Is it possible to not pick a side at the end? Like can I get rid of light spirits and dark spirits equally?

it don't matter. none of this matters

You have to do that for the true final boss and ending.

Just kill them all.

I swear that I enjoyed this mode the least of anyone who's ever played this game. It was worth it to unlock Galeem's theme and change the menu music, but I don't look forward to doing it all again for the final-battle achievements because I fucked up and overwrote my save file.

I'm playing on normal, is there any reward for playing through the whole thing on Hard? Cause I really don't want to

no, but bosses like Galeem and Dharkon get tougher fights and worth doing if you wanna challenge yourself

Not only possible, but recommended. Try to keep the balance.

No, don't think so.

That's a relief, this was fun at first but then felt like a grindfest after a while so having to only do it once is great

>One of the challenges is to complete the skill tree
>Don't get enough spheres through playing it once
It's so boring doing it again

I think you do if you don't plow through it with OP spirits

I did the first playthrough using the recommended spirit teams the whole game. On NG+ i took a look and it spirit power doesn't seem to matter, you still get 1/2/4 skill spheres for the fight

The game mentions something about higher rewards if you intentionally use weaker spirits than the enemy's. I sure as hell didn't do that, this shit took long enough as it is

>99.67% complete

FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKKKK

The amount of time and effort that must have went into World of Light and Spirits as a concept is depressing.
All I could imagine while playing it was what if they had actually made something fun instead?

>stage builder, trophies, and custom moves died for this
>we will never get a subspace emissary style adventure mode again

worst of all,
>smash run died for this

>switch hardware could handle 8 player randomly generated smash run maps
>instead we get a glorified JPEG collection campaign

its a bad kind of feel, man

Subspace was never good.

Shit opinion, Brawl's general wonkiness made Subspace iffy but the exploration, cutscenes, and sidescrolling was fantastic. Imagine what they could have done with the Ultimate 3rd parties like Castlevania and Megaman on board.

To be fair though, unlocking custom moves in Smash 4 was complete AIDS. Smash Run would've been good though.

>we will never get a subspace emissary style adventure mode again
Good. Subspace was a dull, uninspired chore with lazily recycled assets. The cutscenes didn't save the sluggish gameplay and the majority of the cutscenes weren't even cool things like the ship invasion or fights, just characters staring at each other or the entrance to the next generic location full of Kingdom Hearts rejects.

I think the cutscenes would have been a lot better, that's only based on the character clips from announcements.

The sluggish gameplay was because Brawl itslef played like shit and it was their first attempt. Subspace in Ultimate could have been amazing with themed worlds like in WoL instead of boring OC no one cares about in Brawl.

>The sluggish gameplay was because Brawl itslef played like shit
Yes, but it's even worse in SSE because every stat is lowered to make stickers worth a shit. WoL is a drag and missed opportunity, but the gameplay is good.

This bothered me even when Brawl came out. Nintendo has some of the most iconic characters AND settings of any company and they just completely forgo using the latter. That the Halberd is the only recognizable setting used is a fucking travesty.

>the gameplay is good
you what
>play as intended until you get a busted spirit that gives Slow Super Armor or Ore Club
>completely wipe the fucking floor in every battle until the end
>scavenge the fucking map for characters you actually want to play and spirits you need to progress
>10% of battles are actually interesting and the other 90% you can basically set up yourself in custom smash
Ultimate plays infinitely better than Brawl but WoL is a fucking braindead time vampire.

Spirits mode ended up being nothing but boring buffs with many characters just being identical to others. Did anyone else think that you'd actually get the abilities of the Spirit? Like I thought that if I equipped Otacon I'd always have ROB as a partner or I'd be able to set stages on fire myself with many Spirits. I beat WoL and did like one Spirit event and have ignored the feature since.

>Best bosses in the series
>No boss rush mode
Why

That was pretty much what disappointed me the most.
One of the first fights is Don Bongo which is a giant DeDeDe. I thought equipping the Don Bongo spirit would make you giant for the duration of the fight. It's actually a sub-par defense spirit that has no special effects. Quickly killed any hype I had for WoL.
The fights that basically require immunity spirits are also a fucking slap in the face. Low winds, reverse controls, stage flip etc. are all manageable, but lava stage or very high wind fights are a fucking snore because they're impossible without the proper spirit and a fucking cake walk with it, just not fun since you have to unequip a spirit you might actually want to us.
Really hope we get more new game modes with DLC since stage builder assets are already in the files, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

To be fucking honest, played on normal till world 3. Then as all the fights started to become bash your head against wall(fuck you Giga Mac) I popped it in easy to just unlock all the bosses then put it back up for the final fights. That master hand section and final boss rush were fucking great.

>they're impossible without the proper spirit and a fucking cake walk with it
hmmmm
now what does that remind me of

Really its fucking bullshit. And the whole adventure mode map is basically a mario party 2 board. Its depressing.

And then in classic mode each character has the same exact bonus stage. They really made it feel like a step backwards.

Yeah the final section really felt like a huge tease for how awesome adventure mode could have been...
