FACT: Games with sexual content on average have higher replay value. FACT: Games with sexual content tend to statistically have better game design, mechanically, dynamically, and aesthetically. FACT: Both men and women can enjoy sexually stimulating games. FACT: The average age of a 'gamer' is 34 years old, with 72% of 'gamers' being aged 18 years or older.
QUESTION: Why aren't more games with sexual content being produced?
because they don't sell not even in Japan unless you want unity asset-flips like Senran and Nep.
Bentley Ortiz
Cause it's vapid and shallow. People who play games just to look at sex really? How sad must you be.
Reminds me of that dude who asked if Cyberpunk 2077 will feature sex scenes and shit
David Cook
Calling games you never played shallow How ironic

Eroge sells! It has a market.
Embracing your sexuality is a sign of maturity friend. Feeling awkward about it is just childish. You haven't even played these games if you're calling them vapid and shallow. Most eroge I play have more compelling stories than any AAA title I have played.

>Eroge sells! It has a market. It sells very little, to make profits be worth the time and effort it has to be a small production, even DoAXtreme is reusing almost every major asset.
FACT CHECK #1: You are more likely to wank to eroge than a AAA game. Therefore, you are more likely to launch an eroge game to wank. If we assume that two identical games are released, the exception being one without wank content and the other with it, the wank-content game will have more replay value. Assuming that there exists identical games in design to an eroge, the eroge has the higher replay value due to wank content.
FACT CHECK #2: There are less eroge in the world than there are AAA games. Therefore, the average of eroge games will be affected greater by one new game, rather than the situation with AAA games, where one new game doesn't change the average AAA game rating. Since eroge has a lot of 'highly ranked' games, their average game design is better than the average AAA game design.
FACT CHECK #3: It takes two people to have sex. Usually it is between a male and a female. Both sexes enjoy sex, so both sexes enjoy sexual content.
I'd say these games have higher replay value, and the game design isn't great. I am saying that you are more likely to have a well designed game if you add sexual content.

Bayonetta isn't an eroge. Featuring a woman in a game doesn't equal eroge.

I like my porn and games to be separate, thank you very much
>Post some sales numbers. Asset reuse isn't an indication of poor sales. >DoAXtreme3 - 0.06m >Senran Kagura; Estival vs - 0.18m >SNK Heroines - 0.05m >Bullet Girls Phantasia - 0.02m
Michael Jenkins
I wouldn't be surprised that most of DoA Xtreme 3's sales came from /pol/-types falling for KT's "boohoo feminists don't liek our gaem!!!!" marketing
Julian Cruz
DoA, Senran Kagura, SNK, and Bullet Girls Phantasia are NOT eroge.
Eroge typically contains fully uncensored adults only content. We're taling AO rating. Not to mention, eroge is dealing with pornography. While Senran Kagura is pretty ridiculous, it hasn't crossed the threshold yet. This also disqualifies games like Manhunt as eroge.
I see that you can argue that games "that are erotic are eroge" but I assure you, that is not what it means.

ah sou sou... sumimasen, user-kun
could you provide the honorable sales numbers, then? Otherwise it's safe to assume they're below 100k
Ryder Moore
Belittling aside, I found total numbers from an untrustworthy source.
万本 means million. If we are to assume that the data is correct, and we are to assume these 'millions' are copies, with an average price of an eroge game ranging from 10000¥ to 3000¥ (in 2017, let's take the midpoint of these maximums and minimums) then:
6500¥ * 32,000,000 * ratio from yen to usd = 1.872 trillion USD.
That's a huge industry.
James Green
Rance 10 was a great game, but don't act like most porn games don't have trash for mechanics and just rely on the sexy pictures.
>万本 means million You're off by 2 digits. 万 means 10k and 本 in this context means units.
Joshua Harris
The western porn game industry never took off until recently, where it instantly flew off the patreon cliff. Now we have a payment model that encourages bullshit hype and unending dragged out development. Add in the way patreon disallows certain content and you get a whole heap of bullshit.

>FACT: Games with sexual content tend to statistically have better game design, mechanically, dynamically, and aesthetically. Proofs?

>thread about porn games >oppic shows the game where porn is one of more weak and forgettable parts What did he mean by this?
Christopher Reed
18.72 million USD, then.
For such a niche market, isn't this figure still a bit high?
