I have recently been watching Dragonball, and I still enjoy it more than Z. The peak of Z is still the Frieza arc and got bogged down by the Buu saga. The cell saga was meh in comparison, but had a way better conclusion than the Buu saga.

Dragon Ball had some adventure in the first arc. Then it went into tournament territory where it focused on fighting and training. Then it went back again to the "adventure" of searching for the dragon balls again with the Red Army saga. Then it went back again to more tournament arcs and it hasn't stopped since. Literally. Tao Paipai and the bullshit water were the first power level asspulls Toriyama brought out of nowhere. Once King Piccolo hit, Dragon Ball went into "serious mode" with power levels and shit ever since up until the Buu saga. The whole "Dragon Ball was so much better it was like Journey to the West dude it never focused on fighting or bullshit powerlevel miracle asspulls fuck DBZ!" is a huge overblown myth designed to weed out the contrarians and hipster fags.

For me the biggest red flag for spotting a contrarian is when they claim to love how silly and whimsical DB was and then proceed to have the entirety of the Buu arc fly completely over their heads with what Toriyama was trying to do with it.

Radditz is so god damn cool. His appearance changed DB entirely, and he was clearly the next level. Strong implication that all the little earth battles were low tier and Radditz was just on another level. And the fight was super cool and one where they used actual strategy and not just relying on some new powerup to win.

But I do, and let me tell you brother why. Just to clarify, I segment Z into 3 parts, ending with the death of the main antagonist of the arc, IE Frieza dying or Cell dying.

Dragonball is a well paced action adventure following Goku's story and his interactions with the world. While being more light hearted than Z, it does not detract from my enjoyment of the show nor its action scenes. But it took its time with its training and the results of Goku's training was much more tangible, making it much more rewarding. But it knew when to tip its hat when King Piccolo rolled around and Krillin died.

As for Z, from Raditz to Frieza, the show has a very strong first act. Frieza is the best villain the series ever had, as much as I liked Picollo Jr. in his fight with Goku. But I think it was a mistake that Frieza got blown up and replaced by Cell because he was the perfect heel to the series. Goku uses his power to help those around him while Frieza uses his power to oppress others and rule over his empire. In that respect, I think Super actually made the fight choice to bring him back and he was great in the Broley movie. The Cell saga was okay, but it had a few too many charge up scenes and the overall pace was a bit slower than it should have. However, I think that it had the perfect ending because it brought Gohan's character arc full circle. The Buu saga reverses all of Gohan's progression and by far has the worst pacing of the series with drawn out battles and should have shorter than what it turned out to be. There was some great character moments front ended in the saga, like Vegeta's redemption.

Maybe Kai fixed my problems with the pacing, but I don't like how the character progression was handled. I also understand that it took out the filler, and some of it was legitimately good and helped flesh the series out. Fake Namek was retarded though and there is no contestment on that.

Frieza is a totally run of the mill generic villain. I honestly think I even have him below Buu. Cell is by far the best. Do you like DB and DBZ? Hell, do you like Frieza? That's Cell. Red Ribbon, androids, Saiyans, Piccolo, Frieza, they are all a part of him. And it's not just something that the show says is the case, it is shown through in his character or actions. He's a literal ode to the franchise/culmination.

Kid Goku carries it 100%. It's hilarious too. But a lot of it is legitimately boring. The adventures are not as fun as people make it out to be. The First saga and Demon Piccolo arc deserve all the praise but everything else was good at best. And the last few episodes with ChiChi? Probably the worst spate of episodes in the franchise, maybe even including Super.

Again as I said, I think Frieza would have been better if his impact was much more long term, but he was a great heel to Goku as I stated earlier was the perfect opposing force for that saga and could have benefited the series as a whole. Dr. Gero's existence was a stretch, but Cell's existence is a flat out ass pull so the editor could be happy. He is still leagues ahead of Evil Buu but he diverted too much from the androids which had way more development potential.

As for DB, what makes that series is the character interactions, the adventure is the framework. So far Muscle Tower was the weakest part of the show that I had recently seen. It is just Goku piddling around and General Silver just sits on his ass watching Goku, but it gets better when Android 8 gets involved, the ninja was meh and properly got disposed of. You might be right about the last few episodes, I only really remember the afterlife episode.

And also the to this day common misconception that Toriyama meant to end it with the Frieza saga, which is why it's generally considered the best. Cell was far more interesting. A better conclusion(as in the very moment of death), and Vegeta vs Cell was one of the best parts in the franchise. Semi-perfect, and perfect.

Well I am not one of those people that think that the series should have ended with Namek because Toriyama was obviously was building up Gohan. Maybe this whole thing just comes down to preference, but I can't help but feel that Cell was missing something that could have made him better in my opinion. The original SSG was supposed to have a cape, yellow hair and a hairstyle that was between SSJ3 and 4, but he just went with the red one.
Even SSJ3 was, in the concept arts, just a bang-less SSJ2. Then he added the longer hair.
The lack of eyebrows was just a mistake, he forgot about drawing them in an issue and then just went with it.

It's back when knowing martial arts was the biggest factor, so the scenes are more intense with the punches and shit, blasts came in almost purely as finishers after a fistfight. Literally nobody was even city destroyer level. Maybe king piccolo I can't remember. I think Arale had ridiculous power as well.

It might not be EXACTLY one, but I chalk it up to him trying to execute the attack himself, only partially succeeding. Also another character who made mines: piccolo with hellzone grenade.

Since the anime/manga have definitely shown that they're following the life of the first saiyan to live life outside of the saiyan way of life, who ultimately reunites with them, who are controlled by Frieza, who makes everyone super strong, then turns super saiyan, then trains his son to go beyond super saiyan, then masters the level beyond that after he dies, then meets the highest of the supreme kai, then meets the god of destruction, then meets the god of gods, then fights the strongest mortal, I think the trajectory is near it's apogee, but there's ONE more level in between Goku and Vegeta being SSGSS, Broly and Kale being LSS (which is apparently stronger than SSGSS). I think what may happen is Broly being the LSS and attaining SSGSS form might be the ultimate form, and he'll get it and become the new GoD, maybe even destroying Zamasu or something. f they were going to add another Goku, then I don't know why they didn't do Ultra Instinct - which is actually the only one that I can see that could play massively differently compared to all the other Gokus etc. Start the fight in UI Sign, and have great defensive powers (maybe even lacking chip damage) but relatively limited offensive power. Have to build up enough power in order to take on UI Mastered install mode, which gives you access to new moves including supers/ultras which add great offensive power as well. So yes, temporarily you'll be overpowered and all, but then he falls back down to a "depleted" power level where you are far weaker for a bit before returjning to UI Sign.

Fits thematically/in terms of lore, AND provides a unique idea for play mechanics. Yes you'll make some people rage about him being overpowered while he's in UI Mastered (which should take a while to unlock. Maybe all 7 bars? But then you STAY there for awhile, so it isn't like your fun runs out 10 seconds after you unlock it) but can easily point to other characters playing smart to beat him during UI Sign and/or getting him to expend lots of energy so he can't go unto Mastered etc. Personally I thought if they will add another goku it should at least be the one that is quite a bit different.

Strange they didn't add Toppo (which also could have neat mechanics with the Destruction God Candidate mode) and UI Goku close to Jiren.

Even then, he's always depicted as being darker than Bulma, who's pretty much the closest thing Dragon Ball's fictional earth has to white. Saiyans as a whole are described as having "yellow" skin, while all humans are described as being "white, brown, yellow, black" in the official guidebooks.

Nah, beings like Majin Buu are unaffected by Baby, so by extension, so is Buu. Omega is by far more broken because his regeneration is absolutely insane as well as his powers. Super 17 has a great energy absorb tech as well as palm hands, but he needs to stand in 1 spot in order to absorb energy. If Omega Shenrons power was from the earths dragonballs, imagine how broken he’d be if they used Supers Dragon balls. He’d pretty much make Gods and angels shake in their boots

I dunno if is due the dubs, but Baby wasn't really bent on destroying the saiyans and he was content with simply making them his slaves. He settled on Vegeta because he was the stronger Saiyan around and he found appealing the idea of combining the Saiyan royal lineage and the Tsufur one into one.

Goku on the other hand was just a minor inconvenience, and Baby even offered him mercy of he submitted to his will. But after Goku survived again and again, returning to challenge him was when Baby went nuts trying to kill Goku at any cost.
