It sold more than the prior two games did, both of which sold on Steam. It sold more than twice as much than Last Light did on Steam only a week after launching on Epic. Epic placing developers over consumers worked great in in favor of them and the developers, and the consumers played the game they wanted anyway.

You realize that Epic is literally essentially buying the game for you when they signed the minimum purchase contract with the developers. They cover the developers loses due to pirating. They're essentially begging you to pirate the game. The developer wins, you don't spend a time, china gets fucked.

If any game gets an exclusivity deal with Epic you should be happy because it essentially means a free game that the developer gets paid for either way.

I legitimately don't want to deal with multiple launchers, steam was there first so it's what I use. If other launchers existed even 6 years ago, I may have been willing to switch over but at this point it's definitely a sunk cost issue.

The too many launchers thing is sorta a valid point. At least with AMD though there's that gaming tab on the GPU settings where you can pretty easily pick whatever you want. Only thing that doesn't work directly via it is Overwatch, that only works when launched on Battle.Net for some reason.

The thing with Epic is that I don't really feel like going out of my way to enrich the latest asshole millionaire on a quest to build his shitty monopoly by bribing developers, journalists, youtubers and just employing shills overall. This is not a selling point, or a sign that it will get better. They have intentionally made a garbage client because they think that all they need is exclusives to get people on board. I think that they underestimate how willing people are to pirate. Steam's convenience made me drop piracy for a long time, but I have no qualms about pirating a game if they're gonna throw barriers in the way of me paying for it.
