Everyone says 2 is shit, should I bother playing it? Just finished 1.

Skip it

Nah. It's legitimately very bad. You can try it if you want and have the HD collection. But you'll probably skip over to 3 anyway, assuming you haven't played it before.

Watch a longplay/"movie" of it instead maybe?

Just wanted to say to that i think what he means is in Japanese, it comes out more like
"So that's the item that opens the thing?"
"Imprecise. It is the item that closed the thing and thus can be used to open it".

Basically, I agree, it's stupid and japanese. I can tell from some of the sentence structure, and having seen quite a few anime.

If you're really bored, sure. It's irrelevant enough to ignore entirely though.

If you like boring yourself, sure go ahead

DMC 2 is a long line of video games that got too much flak. Tryhards hated it because they saw mecha devil trigger as a crutch, because god forbid people just relax and enjoy a game, no matter if it strokes their e-penis or not. DMC 1 fans hated it because Dante was no longer cuhrazy in personality. Waifufags hated it because they wanted more Trish (I'm not making this up, I was around back then). combatfags hated it because Dante wielded the sword with some heft and weight for once, which is a no go for people who enjoy weightless, soulless combat.

I am not saying DMC 2 is necessarily a good game. But I do believe it got meme'd on way too hard I will say this with a straight face, I dare fucking anyone to try and contradict me on it: DMC 5's narrative makes DMC 2's narrative look like the next great video game masterpiece.

Boot up DMC 2 and play around for a bit and you'll notice something is very off. By the first or second battle you should know why. You might die of boredom if you actually play through both the campaigns.

I felt like the sword had no impact to it at all. Stinger was hilarious to me though, and recently became even more hilarious after learning that it was the only "working" move before Itsuno was brought in.

>DMC2
>weight

You can play it on cruise control just for context. If you're a busy guy and wanna "git to the gud stuff" then it's story is mostly filler, and everyone feels a bit off character. Everyone being Dante, the only returning guy with a role in the plot. Gameplay is a snooze fest, don't expect intricate or complicated combos like in the next games, don't expect satisfying weapons, a well balanced DT reward system or interesting enemies with difficult patterns with a spectrum of punishment styles to choose from. Some of the bosses look kinda cool. Some of Dante's animation look cool. DT has more bonus moves than in 1, and 3, but they are less useful or cool. DT Million stab is kinda balling.

Lucia is slightly more fun to play just cause her moves flow a bit better, tho she is only slightly better than a reskin. Too much move overlap, don't expect the wildly divergent gameplay styles of the future characters. If you've only played DMC1 so far, then Lucia does indeed play more differently than LDK did in DMC1. Trish is also kinda fun, she has a hidden command where if you tap i think the weapon swap shoulder button while charging round trip she's stab sparda into the ground and you can go punches and kicks with ifrit's basic moveset. I don't think you get it's sweet DT moves tho.

Lucia's penultimate boss and Dante's final boss look pretty cool imo. Same for Furiatarus and Bolverk. Not gonna lie, would not be sad to see Bolverk or Lucia return with more depth and stuff.

Clearly the Van is a devil arm made from Furiatarus' brother, Minotaurus.

it's like 3 hours, at least play a bit of it and you'll see why people hate it immediately

I blew through it.
It wasn't too bad, I guess. Main villain was pretty entertaining.

Play it so you can have a legitimate opinion

Eh, it's a boring and dull game so just play it as long as you can bear or skip it otherwise. Nothing of value is lost by skipping it.

Good thread guys thanks.

>DMC 1 fans hated it because Dante was no longer cuhrazy in personality.
Dante's not even that crazy in 1, what are you talking about

There are a couple of reasons to play it, namely to see the differences between it and 3, but if you know it sucks and you have a few and if you are curious enough I say give it a go.

I've never seen a post be so completely retarded and absolutely wrong.

How did the DMC series survive after DMC2?

lucia's blades and kicks could make for a fun movest imo, i'd like to see her return

It's terrible. The combat system was revamped into some directional bullshit and you can literally beat the entire game by just spamming ebony and ivory. Bosses were shit, story was non-existent and so was Dantes personality. The only parts of the game I enjoyed when it came out were Dantes costume, and the new stylish moves like surfing on enemies etc which are all in DMC3 anyway. There's literally no reason to play it unless you're a diehard fan/completionist.

Not even worth it.

I'm on the same boat as you. I'll play 2 once I'm done with 1 on hard because I'll rather experience it myself than taking strangers' words at face value.

Maybe I don't need to tell you this, but you should play 1 on hard before moving on. I feel like Normal was the tutorial difficulty and Hard is the real meat; right now I'm on Nelo Angelo's third battle.

>DMC 1 fans hated it because Dante was no longer cuhrazy in personality.
Did you play DMC1? Aside from a few snarky quips, he was pretty reserved and serious.

A certain beautiful man didn't want to be known as the guy who made DMC2 and poured all his heart and soul into DMC3.

did DMC2 have a good villain at least?

>people responding serious to a dumb shitpost
Why is this fanbase so easy to bait lmao

>Trying to S Rank mission 4 on DH
>Not having a hard time, but there are only 4 mandatory fights before the boss
>Two of them are against trash mobs of like 5 empusa and 5 pyrobats, and drag my average score through the mud
Is no-damage the only way to get this shit?

It's not that bad, Fans are just newfags who didn't play either 1 or 2, some haven't even palyed 3.

Play it so we have one less parrot around, it's short too so you won't need much time.
My 2 cents:

Pros:
>Best Dante design
>Amazing music only rivalled by DMC1
>Pretty good atmosphere, mostly because of the music though
>A few really cool bosses
>You'll see how Itsuno came up with a lot of stuff he later perfected in DMC3
>The most stylish Trickster dodges in the series
>Lucia
>Arius' shenanigans
Cons
>Pretty low level of challenge all around
>Some real bad bosses here and there, more than most games in the series
>An underwater level with Lucia, not as bad as those in DMC, but still
>Dante is pretty stoic and more on the cool side, which you might not like coming from the later games
>There's only swords, no DA
>Stinger sucks
>BP gets real sadistic
>Style is hard to keep up due to guns not pumping up enough points
>Red Orbs aren't as plentiful as other games

He had a good design, but I honestly can't even remember what he did anymore. His boss fights were lame.

How can you be wrong on every single point? DMC2 is bad because it was a misguided sequel that capcom wanted to rush and didn't feel the need to install a good director until late in development. The game wanted so hard to be like 1 without the same direction of the original, so we got a boring, unpolished turd that was barely salvagable.

most definitely yes

if you want to fight a fucking helicopter then yes

>The combat system was revamped into some directional bullshit
Literal nonsense, the combat system works exactly like any other DMC.
>you can literally beat the entire game by just spamming ebony and ivory
Sure, if you want to waste an hour for every single mission on normal, maybe, on DMD it's suicide since your guns become peashooters, especially E&I.
>and the new stylish moves like surfing on enemies
You can't surf on enemies in 2.

Go play the game for real this time.

skip it, it's honestly just fucking boring, so goddamn boring, i even recently replayed it before dmc5 release, its still VERY boring

infested tank.webm

WHEEEEEEOOOWW

You will literally miss nothing if you just skip it and pretend it doesn't exist. Shit gameplay, shit story, is never mentioned again in-universe.

There are no pause combos, they work differently in 2. Also, building up DT with guns and then unleashing it as DT'd gun shots is probably the fastest way to play since the environments are so spread out anyway.

Argosax's second form seems like an alright dude

Play it. Its really bad, but it'll give you a better appreciation of the series and of just what a shit game actually is.

That aside, the game's a trip. You'll get at least a few good laughs out of it along the way.

No
No
>Good Atmosphere
Its a hodgepodge mess of environments, its jarring, not immersive.
>A few really coolbosses
Name one. Design wise, maybe, they're all shit from a gameplay perspective.
>youllsee how itsuno came up with stuff
No one cares about what ifs
>trickster dodges
Fucking what
>lucia
shit character
>arius
also shit character

Great design, terrible execution. The concept of some rich CEO trying to use hell powers to become even stronger is a great idea, but he had no personality and had shit bossfights.

Why the fuck do zoomer faggots keep asking about 2? Try it if you're so goddamn curious.

What went wrong in your life?

you sound like a massive tool

He's right though? What's wrong with what he said?

never played a DmC game just saying no one asked him how REEL GAYMURS play DmC1

>"DmC"
>cries about a politely worded post that's just explaining how this series is designed to be played

Attached: flock off.png (465x478, 342K)

Does anyone know the song that plays at 3:30?

it's good for a laugh

holy shit how do you get this triggered by absolutely nothing

Play it. But you have to play with dante then with the other chick to understand everything.

yall seem upset
