gameplay fucking when?

I dont know but im fucking excited.

Abe's exoddus is one of my alltime favorite games. One of the first games ive ever played. I can pop it in right now and play it start to finish in a few hours and get all 300 mudokons. I swear if they fuck this up Ill burn their studio.

Don't think there;ll be much conversation about this yet until we see some gameplay.

shame it's pushed back to 2020, but I'm hoping it's early 2020 at least

E3, a dev on discord said they have gameplay footage that's been approved for public showing, and hinted that considering they're only a small team they're saving it for where it'll get most impact

big if true; do you have proofs?

Soulstorm brew? So this is a Exodus remake?

Looks really good visually.

it's amazing to me how a little studio oddworld inhabitants has stuck around for so long considering the long periods of time between game releases

Quick rundown on Oddworld?
I remember playing it when I was a wee lad on my cousin's ps1

I know about the 2020 release, I meant proofs for a dev confirming gameplay footage being approved for public showing

it's more of a reimagining that uses Exoddus as the spine of the game; Exoddus back in the day was developed in only 9 months and a whole load of ideas and mechanics were never implemented as a result
they're following off of New 'n' Tasty which is now considered part 1 of the Quintology, with this being the 2nd
after this we'll move onto the 3rd, 4th and 5th, with the 5th taking place in Nolybab which is pretty much cyberpunk Oddworld (Lorne confirmed all of this)

and just so everyone's aware: New 'n' Tasty wasn't developed by Oddworld Inhabitants, it was done by Just Add water who aren't developing on this game

Why does everything look so fake and weightless? I remember the bone train from the intro of the original game sounding incredibly visceral, af if a real train was driving past my room. Here, everything is lacking a sense of momentum and weight.

oh, here

is this from an official discord managed by the devs or what?
I need some more context here

it's the official discord yeah, that guy is a developer at OWI, a couple of them hang out there

interesting, E3 showing seems plausible then (especially considering a 2020 release target doesn't leave them much more time to avoid showing gameplay), but I can't help but wonder where they'd show it?
I guess they could just dump a showcase video on their youtube channel around E3, though.

also in case you haven't seen it, they shown off the shaman too

The art and audio aesthetics of the original games were something very few games even today can match. I mean the atmosphere was incredible, it felt visceral. Mudomo and mudanchee vaults felt like these vast barren caves ancient beyond comprehension with nothing but creatures living in peace trying to kill you, things like fe co depot felt like a literal moving breathing machine.

So far, its way to early to speculate how this new game will match that tone, but I feel a lot of it stands in the idea that modern graphics just feel too "clean" by comparison.

The music also plays an important role, and that hasnt been shown yet. Hearing a modern revamp of these two will be either the best thing ever or the worst, I sincerely hope its the former.

Oh god, that music paired with those gorgeous backgrounds. You're right, I can't remember many things coming close to that sense of both dread and wonder.
