You can probably just sign in to xbox live or so.

No. It means you can get achievements and stuff like that (clubs? friendlist?). It's like Minecraft Bedrock Edition on all the platforms it is (including Switch) or Halo Masterchief Collection on Steam, you get integration with Xbox Live specific features. Xbox Live is free, it's Xbox Live Gold that is a paid service and that's only on Xbox

Microsoft should stop making Xbox and be a 3rd party developer, like Sega did in 2001. If they give all their games to another platform I have no reason to buy an Xbox.
