What epic is doing is making people build a library on their storefront so that people will be more inclined to buy games from them. At best people will relent and use Epic to buy games that are limited time exclusives, but given that Epic has to pay a considerable sum for that exclusivity, I can't imagine they're turning much profit.

Devs are fucking tired of paying 30% to Valve to sponsor their bullshit initiatives that never work out while their store is mired in shovelware and controversy.
There's no reason to pay 30% on an open platform. On iOS, Android, Playstation etc you're paying because the platform holder had to develop the platform and create the market. On PC that's not the case, and the only reason Valve has gotten away with it is because they were the first store, and had the halo effect of their amazing games. They could have gotten ahead of this, but instead sat on their arse wasting money on Steam Machines, the Steam Controller, Linux gaming and all kinds of stupid bullshit.
They deserve what they're getting, and they'll inevitably reduce their cut and when they do the devs will stop jumping ship.
