why does Yea Forums hate this game
Why does Yea Forums hate this game
Other urls found in this thread:
I hate it because of the horrible 'gameplay' with there only being like 3 voice actors and the even worse Bethesda grade writing.
Elder Scrolls was never good.
Quests suck too
>Awfully repetitive after 5h
>lvl scaling
>shitty and non engaging plot
>Hailed as second coming of Jesus despite being at it best 8/10
Because its shallow and boring
I like it, I have a lot of fun playing it everytime
I don't even care
I don't hate it, I probably have a couple hundred hours with mods installed. Vanilla is lazily designed, with terrible gameplay, and shit loads of bugs though. I can't even imagine trying to play a mage vanilla now, the thought is horrifying.
Not flashy enough for the average Dork Souls fan.
Yea Forums is also too stupid to mod it correctly.
>Vanilla is lazily designed, with terrible gameplay, and shit loads of bugs though
It is, but to be fair, it also was an incredibly ambitious project back then.
As a base structure for mods it's really good.
Modding doesn't fix how shallow it is, no matter how many mods you install its just a stupid action game and only an RPG in the loosest sense. No amount of lolis and floppy horse cocks can change that.
>it also was an incredibly ambitious project back then.
No it fucking wasn't, it was just a more casual oblivion with better graphics, which was just a more casual Morrowind with better graphics, which was just a more casual Daggerfall with better graphics
>it also was an incredibly ambitious project back then
???
It was less ambitious than the three games preceding it. Daggerfall was the definition of ambitious
I loved it, but I can see why people were disappointed with it.
The game was heavily streamlined, a lot of the depth of the earlier games had been cut out, and the writing was absolutely atrocious.
>its just a stupid action game and only an RPG in the loosest sense
Wrong, my modded Skyrim plays like a mix between Infinity Engine games (icewind dale etc), Dark Souls, and with open world.
they don't understand skyrim as a autistic camping game
>it was just a more casual oblivion with better graphics, which was just a more casual Morrowind with better graphics
Those 2 games were also very ambitious tho. You act like they didn't have flaws too.
>8/10
If you’re talking the vanilla game, 5/10 at best is more accurate.
What about Skyrim was "ambitious"
Explain yourself
Bugs
Bad magic system
Bugs
The dungeons feel the same
Bugs
Bad voice acting
Bugs
Mediocre combat
Bugs
Bad writing
Bugs
And bugs
you can never run faster
you can never jump higher
fall damage is always the same
you cannot interact with the world in a meaningful way
it's not an RPG.
If that’s true, I’d really like to see what mods you use to get that kind of experience.
Bethesda has never made a good game and it got paraded around as the best thing ever for close to a decade despite being a downgrade from its 2 predecessors that atleast had interesting parts
>What about Skyrim was "ambitious"
The shitload of content? Creating an open world game with such graphics and so many quests and dialogues is always ambitious.
>Bethesda has never made a good game
Based
Skyrim has always been ugly as sin, its "infinite" repeatable quests being the same five you get after finishing one of the guild/college/DB storylines and the dialogue is just laughable.
I don't use many mods (apart from clothes and armor mods).
The main mods which are essential to me are:
>requiem (to completely overhaul the game and make it more challenging and immersive)
>skyrim unbound (to start playthroughs wherever i want and as whatever kind of build i want in the game)
>EFF (to be able to get more followers)
>lock-on mod with the team add-on (to be able to controll my followers much better)
That's it.
>being a downgrade from its 2 predecessors
It was definitely a downgrade from morrowind but, Skyrim = Oblivion. Oblivion's level scaling is that bad
>requiem
>buy car
>it's shit
>call it shit
>"lol you retard didn't even replace the transmission and install some brakes that aren't garbage, the car is actually quite good if you do"
possibly the worst combat of all time
Yea Forums attracts many contrarians alike that will hate a game due to its popularity.
A recent poll, conducted by the owners of Yea Forums, found that 93% of Yea Forums users are "massive fucking faggots," while the other 7% are "even bigger faggots.
Looks like OP is the 7%.
>requiem
Yea Forums is a console fags infested board
Elder scrolls are the best games mankind ever made
Skyrim sold a lot more copies on consoles.
Perhaps you enjoy your meticulously modded version of Skyrim that no one will ever be able to recreate, but most "people" ate Todd's shit raw, without ketchup.
Your hyperbolic ways are DISGUSTING...! VILE...! And outright INACCURATE...!
Most people agree Skyrim's combat is one of the best in the RPG genre.
Sorry it doesn't include dice rolls, you fucking nerd!
>Creating an open world game with such graphics and so many quests and dialogues is always ambitious.
But it has less quests, dialogue and locations than Oblivion
requiem is the only mod which makes the game similar to Baldur's Gate style games (which are the only good RPGs ever made)
>Yea Forums attracts many contrarians alike that will hate a game due to its popularity.
>tfw if a game is popular with normalfags I'm not allowed to think it fucking sucked because they'll all group together and say I'm just being a contrarian
>it couldn't possibly be because I played Morrowind and Oblivion before Skyrim and genuinely think it fucking sucks in comparison and wasn't fun
>but most "people" ate Todd's shit raw, without ketchup
What. You eat everything with ketchup, you fucking man-child?
I like these games but i also never play them till a year afterwards so the mods have really rolled in and fixed most of that should have been done before they came out. then they can be pretty fun.
>camping
What about some RPG elements?
because its popular and mainstream
Yes user, I literally covered Skyrim in ketchup to make it better.
It didn't work anymore afterwards, and that was a noticeable improvement.
Oblivion vanilla was also pretty fun back then when I never played such a game before.
The thing is, that the more experience you have with these games, the higher your expectations become. That's why so many people are so critical with Skyrim.
I wouldn't call it the worst combat ever (looking at you DMC2) but it's definitely not good.
Because they're comparing it to past games that they like better, so that must mean it's bad, rather than just not as good.
>>Yes user, I literally covered Skyrim in ketchup to make it better.
It didn't work anymore afterwards, and that was a noticeable improvement.
What brand of ketchup?
>half of games are at least as good
Fuck no. Skyrim is like a 7/10.
>Baldur's Gate style games
isometric?
choices that affect the outcome of the story?
solid quest lines?
The truth is that all modern games are shit. Morrowind is shit, Oblivion is shit, Skyrim is shit.
But at least with Skyrim you can mod the shit out of it and then it becomes really good
Homemade.
Store bought has too much sugar.
>muh story
I am more of an Icewind Dale fan. It's a much better game than Baldur's Gate
Sounds like someone didn't utilize shouts.
If you mean leveling, skills, perks and other boring things. I don't really care about the RPG elements.
I fine with exploring, looting, crafting, surviving. To each his own
howdy todd
to each his own
naw, story faggots like you just ruin games
that's why literaly movie-"games" like witcher 3 become "goaty"
>play morrowind
>OMG THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER
>oblivion comes out
>WTF TODD, THIS LEVEL SCALING IS RETARDED WHERE DID ALL MY SPELLS GO!? FUCK YOU
>skyrim comes out
>p-p-please todd, im sorry for saying i didnt like oblivion, *wheeze* please make the game fun *cough*, please i need my spellmaking and rpg mechanics *dies*
You actually spent time making things...?
The only thing I make is myself cum.
It's a "Character Progression Game," you retard.
Skyrim is as much a RPG than a transexual woman is a woman.
k
Thank you for agreeing with me.
>movie games
When will this dumb meme die? A movie game isn't a game with over 2 cutscenes. I only use the term for games like Until Dawn, or anything that QD or Telltale makes.
you're welcome
>requiem
if you had the kindness of putting that shit in caps lock you could have saved us the time of reading your stupid post
too boring
Words to live by, user. I'm honestly inspired
You play the role of "dragon born"
You have no idea how deep the modding goes for this.
Never should have come here
I don’t hate it, I just think it’s a shallow, mediocre experience that’s poorly designed in a lot of places in addition to being buggy. My ire comes from people acting likes it’s a 10/10 gold standard.
A movie game is a game where it's all about graphics and cutscenes.
That's what witcher 3 is all about. People only like it because of the cringy characters, cutscenes out of the ass, and impressive environment graphics.
The actual gameplay in it is a joke only braindead retards enjoy.
>hurr durr in mario you PLAY THE ROLE as plumber
I agree, I think Skyrim is a 6.5/10, but people think it's the best game since Mario came out in the 80s.
>God awful combat that was forgivable was forgivable in Oblivion but there's no excuse for a company as successful as Bethesda to not have improved significantly in 2011
>Graphics were lackluster for a game of its time
>Dumbed down the RPG mechanics to appeal to the Call of Duty audience
>Narrative was largely uninspired, especially in the case of the Dark Brotherhood questline
>Spell casting was unsatisfying, poorly balanced, magicka system punished you for not carrying a melee weapon in the early game
>Removed skills like unarmed and Alteration for no reason
>Dual wielding actually gave you less options overall, in oblivion you could simultaneously equip a spell, 1h melee weapon and shield for example, in Skyrim this isn't possible, also dual wielding weapons made it impossible to block even though in real life an offhand weapon was largely used defensively
>Weapon favoriting system was unintuitive, no option to bind 1h spell AND 1h shield to one button for example, which would have made significantly more sense
>Bethesda once again relies on modders to fix issues like lighting and interface
>One of the three expansions was a ridiculous series of fetch quests to build a fucking house
>Cities felt cramped and lifeless despite being filled with patrolling npcs
>Still have to use console commands to set FOV in a first person PC game, still clipping issues with character viewmodels when setting FOV to a playable number
>While the number of Voice Actors has increased considerably since Oblivion, it's still painfully obvious that you're talking to the same voice actor over and over again.
>The game was universally praised as one of the best games of all time, leaving Bethesda little reason to make any positive changes in future installments
The truth is I hate Skyrim because I love the Elder Scrolls, and I know what this game could have been.
It's a fun game insofar it's not demanding, simple, and endearing. Something to relax to. But it's also extremely shallow, demeaning, ridiculous. I won't say I wasn't entertained but I certainly wasn't challenged.
tl;dr just turn ur brain off
What I don't understand how Yea Forums shits on skyrim but praises BotW when they are both shallow open worlds, I guess its okay when nintendo does it.
BotW at least had some interesting designs in the divine beasts and more interactive environments.
And Skyrim has dragons
There are as many threads on Yea Forums shitting on BOTW as there are threads praising it, BOTW also had better freedom of movement, narrative, combat, and if you think BOTW's world is even half as shallow as Skyrim's, then you definitely did not play one of those two games.
Ah that's right. Dragons, the shitty boss fights that get recycled and repeated ad nauseum and spend 85% of combat flying around in circles menacingly 200 feet up in the air
Na, people shit on BotW too. The fanbase is just fanatic in defending it. Like, generally, Skyrim and BotW are both overrated, but still solid games, I think the difference is people who like Skyrim are content in the knowledge of this and people who like BotW aren't
It has the depth of a puddle
Skyrim Dragons are some of the most disappointing enemies I've ever seen in a video game.
So much buildup for enemies that become regular mobs within 2 hours into the main quest.
>And Skyrim has dragons
what do dragons have to offer wrt to interesting game/level design? that's what I'm talking about when I'm mentioning the divine beasts. I'm not talking about challenging opponents, if I was, I'd bring up Lynels
Terrible combat. Hitting anything doesn't feel like hitting anything. Terrible game I can never understand the popularity.
Yea Forums is really just a cesspool of mentally ill weebs
I don't know, user, puddles are pretty deep. Especially if you don't want to get your socks wet.
>Remaster after 5 years
>Still get broken quests even while having an unofficial patch installed
boring gameplay
boring combat
boring world
boring dungeons
boring compass quests
boring characters and stories
People loved BOTW and Yea Forums can't get over the fact that it's a better game than all the shitposting they can do.
Dragon fights were a main feature in the game but the fights are disappointing. Most of the fight is spent with the dragon in the air, when they hit you they do hardly any damage and when they are on the ground you mash the same button over and over again, chipping away at its health bar.
Repeat that 3 or so times and that's the whole fight.
As soon as you step foot into a town you are immediately bombarded with quests, you literally cannot walk through a town without being thrown at least two. It makes towns less exciting to explore, every house feels like a copy paste.
The sheer volume of content thrown at you feels exhausting, but then you realize there is no depth. It is an ocean as deep as a puddle. Go to this cave, find this item. Go to this fort, kill this guy.
No real interaction in the world or acknowledgement of your achievements aside from the same three lines said by the same voice actor.
The level scaling is atrocious, the game is too easy and their attempt at increasing the difficulty results in enemies with 10x the health they had who hit slightly harder. No real challenge, just a timesink.
That being said I enjoyed the game and have about 500 hours in it.
This board is constantly bombarded with "muh depth," but, more often than not, fails to deliver any real improvements to quests.
Sexlabs only
You had to stoop low enough to compare a AAA released in 2011 to fucking DMC2, an unfinished game from 2003. That should tell you how bad the combat is; and at least DMC2 had the decency to give you some cool movement options like wall running, jumping more than 2ft in the air, and a dodge roll.
It’s not my job to write for Bethesda.
I'm not a game designer, I am a consumer.
The product I purchased felt incredibly samey and was loaded with quests that served as filler with little memorability.
>I didn't like this aspect of the meal I purchased
>OH WOW BIG CHEF NOW HUH? WHY DONT YOU COOK AT THIS RESTAURANT INSTEAD?
Depth applies to gameplay as well.
Here are some ideas off the top of my head.
1. Speed up weapon animations.
2. Make enemies have less health and deal more damage.
3. Add a side-step/roll maneuver.
4. No pause during combat.
Because it's a western rpg and not a Jrpg. If this had a shitty anime tier art style Yea Forums wpuld be singing its praise
You faggots just have impossible standards.
Watch my 5 hour Oblivion retrospective and you'll understand. youtube.com
Almost every game has the depth of a puddle.
>Food analogy
Could you actually try next time?
>remember when skyrim released
>its already been 8 years since then
>Oblivion felt ancient at the time but it was only 5 years old
man where does the time go, also I all my gametime in Skyrim was with sex mods, I dont even know if its fun or not.
This video is shit.
It fails to address my dick in your ass, faggot!
Have you ever considered that maybe you're too autistically pedantic to play video games?
idk I'm enjoying myself
I enjoy a lot of games Yea Forums hates. It's not great by any means, but it's mod-able and is fun to play once in awhile.
It's probably the last "Good" TES we'll ever get, that being said it's still mediocre in a lot of ways but unlike Fallout 4 I was able to sit down with this at one point in time and finish it.
I like Skyrim.
>quests that can be completed more than one way
>quests that aren't just fetch quests
because it's popular
Well, you shouldn't.
>1 ring slot (only self-enchanted ones were any good)
>1 amulet
>no capes/cloaks
>no parry for dual-wield
>terrible magic system that looks pretty but is weak
>mandatory spellcasting stance
>movement speed and sprint are bloody terrible
>mounted combat terrible
>no actual ridable dragons
>your horse is slower than you when sprinting
>terrible itemisation
>most of unique items are garbage
>dragon shouts are useless or just a plain gimmick
>nonsensical quests
>level scaling
>terrible perk system
>no classes
>no attributes
>no way to add more skills/player values
It is a very big mediocre pile of "MEH".
>I don't like this aspect of the haircut I just received
>OH WOW BIG BARBER NOW HUH? WHY DONT YOU CUT HAIR AT THIS BARBERSHOP INSTEAD?
There is no camping in vanilla Skyrim. You have to mod it, or buy that one mod of creation club for Special Edition.
Its like saying Skyrim is a jewelery crafting game once you add a multitude of crafting mods. Get the fuck out of here.
We can all agree the Skyrim is a lackluster game. Also WE ALL CAN AGREE that Skyrim is only substitute to make up for it lacking features is Mods.
>Hair analogy
Could you actually try next time?
Why do people pretend magic in morrowind was good when enchants make it completely obsolete?
look
stfu
Because enchanting is not mandatory.
Why even have it in the game in the first friggin' PLACE...?!
Gosh, I'm so angry!
If somebody fucks up your hair you can cut and fix it yourself?
>Barber analogy
I don't like the aspect of the shitposting I just received.
I don't hate it but I have played the vanilla version more than enough times to notice its faults, specially when compared to some of the stuff Morrowind and Oblivion already did better. In terms of graphics and animations it was an obvious step above compared to the previous 2 games but now that it's so old it doesn't really matter.
>no spears
>no levitation pants
>no mysticism
>no classes
The main gameplay conceit is fighting dragons and fighting dragons in the game is boring and tedious and unsatisfying.
They're essentially mobile oblivion portals. Easier to deal with obviously, since you don't have to go into a mini dungeon, but they're also more frequent and can interrupt your business in the middle of a town. Same with the vampires.
>no classes
Go play WoW if you want that garbage.
>Download Requiem
>Download a bunch of item/content addition/variety mods
>Download a bunch of graphic/sound/music/UI/immersion enhancing mods
>REQTIFY that shit
Proceed to play a fucking fantastic game
Go choke on dick stealthy bowman warrior wizard...
The game loses its luster after you realize the only character with an actual personality (even if it's shit) and who talks WITH you, not AT you, is a vampire who you can't even marry because Molag Bal cockblocked the DragonBorn harder than Dragonbone armor.
Why not? Its your choice whether to use it or not.
This. If Skyrim could benefit from some old stuff, it surely is levitation. And then there were throwing weapons.
It's because Yea Forumskiddies are bad at video games. They can't even follow quest markers let alone figure out the controls of how to attack.
No matter how much "fun" i had, even with mods, it became so shallow compared to say, New Vegas. The way I could fuck with characters and change the course of the story was more fun than dual wielding lightning after 1k hours
I'm not sure if you've been here since 2011, OP, but just so you know, the game completely BTFO Zelda fantards in that year. Remember when the fantards keep spamming Yea Forums with "Skyward Sword is the GOTY!" and "Can't wait to see Skyward Sword getting the VGA GOTY!"
Guess what, despite many paid shills and fanboy journos giving SS undeserved 10/10s, Skyrim won more GOTY than SS. What's more, the consensus of the average gamers in that year was, the contenders for GOTY are Skyrim or Dark Souls; no one, save for paid shills, fanboy journos, and Nintenbabbies, cared about SS. You can see why Nintendo decided to make the latest Zelda game a Zelda Skyrim Edition after that humiliation.
For fuck sake Can't a man have a bit of BUTT PIRACY?
Excellent analysis man. Do you have some kind of PhD in game design because I'd never be able to make a video like this?
I don't hate Skyrim, but I don't like it either. It's just boring. You horde shit, wave your sword around in the most boring way possible, bring a companion to tank hits since they never die, be stealth archer, and rinse repeat until the game is over. Also a number of quests I deliberately chose the evil or bad option I either get a small smack on the wrist or rewarded for it by the person I'm supposed to be opposing, shrinking any and all fear of consequences for my actions in a role playing game.
>spellmaking
First thing I went to do once i got it, didn't know about carriages and hauled my ass to winterhold lvl 1. Couldn't figure out how to make spells yet, looked it up. mfw.
You sound like a weak, manlet, little virgin INCEL
>Ordinator
>Sexlab and/or OSEX
>CBBE or UUNP with HDT (or CBP if you're playing SE)
These are the bare necessities if you want to actually enjoy this game
What's this meme about requiem being bad?
Last week there was a thread that couldn't suck that mod off enough
Maybe it just wasn't American hours when that thread was posted
What an unfortunate event it would be if someone were to rip my clothes and ravage the area.
