There is no competition here, you either get Spectrum's internet, or you don't have internet at all. They can and do charge for internet whatever they want, and change it up almost monthly.

But the later you were connected to the network, the better the wiring became. So countries like Romania just skipped copper and that shit from the 90s and went straight for high-speed. Just consider a little what's actually transmitted and you'll realize that online gaming requires almost no bandwith. If you shoot, it's just a point, a direction and the type of ammunition that's shot. Barely a few byte big. Movement's the same. If everyone shares most data, all you have to transmit is some lookups in tables etc.

The even bigger technical problem with that Google shit is latency. You need to keep 25 Mb at a steady latency to keep things smooth. Every dip to >100ms will be incredibly noticeable.

It's more complex than that, but the general gist is correct.
As the graphics are rendered on the client machine, you can let the player literally move like an offline game without any delay or wait for the server.
The trick is that the server calculate what you're seeing on your screen, taking account how old the data is, and your ping etc.. and register a shot if you see a shot happening.
So everything runs smooth, but if the ping is too high, some aberrations happen like you getting shot thru a wall.

Now with STD, it's impossible to do anything even close to that, and it act pretty much like quake 1 did.

Which is why when you "Tax the rich" you use what is called a marginal Tax rate to tax the rich more.

Basically you are taxed for X% amount if you are in that tax bracket, but with a marginal tax once you get over a Y amount of profit from then on you are taxed for a X%+Z%.

So even if mom and pops are in the same "Bracket" as something like Walmart, they will not make as much to reach that marginal profit line. This would let you tax bigger corps like walmart more without hurting mom and pops.

It basically increases the reaction time of your monitor to whatever your ping to Google is. That might work in places like California, but some areas will simply be awful. Also it might be even worse than that, because it's not only the reaction time of the screen, but also carries input lag. Maybe divide 100ms in two for that, but who wants any of that to begin with?

My connection clocks at 63 mbps right now, but it's a shitty shared ipv6 mess and goes as low as 5 mbps during high traffic hours. It's the best connection I can get. I'm German, and 5G is DOA here. Fuck relying on networks. I'll just build an insane 4k gaming rig kthx.
