my dad bought tons of these things. But it’s not like you had many other choices to watch media on portably.

I bet your dumbass dad wishes he had them on dvd now

I don't think you realize how well those usually worked, and how fun they were to clone and share with friends.

You must be incredibly young.

I never had the patience

>buy blu ray
>get digital code too
this should be an industry standard for games and movied

Files were smaller, and still loaded as fast as the system could handle.

this kills the /thread

They never put enough adhesive on the clear plastic to connect to to the white plastic, I had so many games where the plastic fell apart just from regular use, making them unplayable

I was going to say vinyl, but this.

>Buy download card for game from GameStop.
>Find out the company went away several years ago so it can't be downloaded.
>No refunds.

I think everyone did that.

I don't understand why anyone buys those cards, why do you need a middle man for digital games

>$19 nintendo tax on each cartridge for the publisher, which got passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices
>had jack shit in terms of storage space, forced you to buy a $50 expansion pak to play any remotely ambitious game
>single-handedly took nintendo from industry leader to also-ran

I bet you weren't even alive then. The expansion pak was 30 dollars, and it was included with most games that required it.

>no locoroco
>no patapon
obvious b8

It's usually as an alternative to providing payment details to the company, remember that fuckup Sony did with customer's details a few years ago?

All things considered, UMDs really weren't even close to being the worse.

I remember when they packaged autorun-install software on their movie DVDs that would wreck DVD burners in any PC the disk was inserted into.

I loved using these.
>press open *Clack!*
>slide in a different game
>close *ka-pop*
>console starts vibrating a little
>*crunch* *crunch* *wiz* *wiz*
>gets hotter the longer you play

It was just so fucking tactile.
