The End Days

Since the gaming industry is crashing hard who else is stocking up on games? I'm going to go out thrifting and hit up some pawn shops to pick up some classics from last gen and prior. I hardly have a sizable backlog but hopefully I can find more stuff to hoard in the event of a complete stream-only future that'll last me till I die. Also going to save up for flashcarts and such and probably buy some used consoles to replace ones that will, inevitably, break in the future. Things like the Saturn or PS1, most definitely picking up multiple PS3s and 360s and putting them on ice until my current ones burn out.

I already have 2 hard drives filled with every possible ROM and ISO from when emuparadise crashed thanks to niggertendo. So I'm good on vidya untill the world explodes.

based. What's your organizational scheme like? Mine for ROMs is a little fucked, but I'm going through them with the Good Set verify-er to get them all uniform. All my games for PC are just in a folder with no regards to naming conventions whatsoever.

Why haven't you taken the speedrunpill yet bros?
>get to play your favorite game(s) and nothing else, can always try out new games if you really care to
>learn all the ins and outs of your game, constantly gaining interesting knowledge you wouldn't have imagined possible before
>knowledge and skills culminate to the point where your gameplay seems almost wizard-like to over 99% of the past and present playerbase
>have an actual time that you need to beat, therefore an actual reason and effective motivator to play besides simple entertainment
>if you ever get good enough you can start streaming to make money and meet other enthusiasts, many successful speedrunners have even been able to avoid using a facecam and mic since the audience is primarily there for your sick gameplay
>save money and arguably time if you can just keep to a reasonable schedule for practice
Literally why would you force yourself into a cycle of new games, expensive hardware, and ultimately disappointment?

I should get into that somewhat. SMB seems like a good game to get gud at

I started going with console>genre>year but I soon realized that there were just so many fucking games that I reverted to just console>genre. I think I'll upload it somewhere if another big ROM site goes to the shadow realm.

tfw no iku wife

Hello future trannies

That's cool. I'd like to organize by genre but there's so many to go through. It'd be cool if there was a DB I could somehow link it to that'd let me sort through them with a bunch of parameters.

>Who here /paranoid/?
You're being stupid, not paranoid. Were you even alive for the first "video game crash"? Are you even American?

Hey if that's a worry of yours, by all means try something else. There are fighting games, other forms of high score or measurable challenges, you name it. I just think that people past the age of 18 should be able to pick out what exactly it is that they like in their hobbies and try to stick to that for a while, really get your money's worth and come out a little happier than stumbling through it all blind. I don't really understand the tranny thing or why it's prevalent among hardcore game enthusiasts, but I've found that they are still just a vocal minority and something you can avoid for the most part.

Streaming is going to take over, and there will be more aggressive push for removing pirated games online. I feel like there's something brewing.

There's enough books, games, and movies already in physical print to satisfy the most voracious consumer until the end of human existence. The only cap is your own attention span. Stop looking forward to new media and look back to all the things you've missed. That's where happiness can be found.

How did you find this picture of me

Don't forget your tinfoil hat and picket sign before heading to the Google headquarters parking lot.

Even if it crash, torrent will always be around. Well, except if you live in a shithole who jail person for (((piracy))).

Hopefully he'll St. Nasim you instead, Google employee

>every platform doing great
>THIS IS IT GUYS VIDYA IS DOOMED
thats retarded

Sorry dude I don't have autism.

You wont be laughing when your games are gone forever. What's wrong with having a personal archive?

I don't trust anything that isn't on my machine to permanently be there when I want it.

I am looking back. I missed a lot of games growing up, and plan to work through them as I get older. I won't have anything new to turn to if all the new stuff is stuff I can't own.

I know I am.

Since when?

Google is the vessel through which Satan enters the world. The nearer it gets to anything that you like the more worried you should be.

I am glad there is someone hoarding physicals

Why? What the fuck did you do, user?

You can't hide it from me user

Attached: 5185943229497279.png (500x371, 88K)

Look up Stadia. Or don't. Don't give it the time of day.

I don't have a large collection but I'm looking to pick up a ton of physical stuff for the PS3 / 360 stuff. That stuff seems like it's the least likely to be archived in my opinion.

Not autistic enough to want to play the same game over and over again in quick succession. When I got a game over in a game when I was a kid I did one of two things, put in a different game or do something else.

>You wont be laughing when your games are gone forever
>he said as he saved digital copies of games to his hard drive and his physical copies get disc rot or have internal batteries die and wipe saves

godspeed then
I'm hoarding everything digitally for possible future emulation but I haven't checked if any PS3 or 360 collections exist

>That stuff seems like it's the least likely to be archived in my opinion
Nigga, you can pirate/emulate both.
>mfw I can play Scott Pilgrim any time while stupid moralfags cry about it being gone

I speedrun. All I fucking do is play Megaman all day. All fucking day. I swear I'm retarded. It's not worth it. There's nothing to gain. Don't fucking do it.

Head to /g/ if data hoarding is your thing. Use tape or some sort of millenium disk to make sure it last for a long time. I trust the Internet more than myself at hoarding data though.

>who else is stocking up on XYZ?
People have been paranoid about shit for years, whether it be games, music, movies, anime, whatever. None of it has vanished, you'd have to be crazy to think that it will over night.

Fucking hell now I get what all the doom and gloom is about. Google feels like some kind of evil Katamari sometimes. My first thought was that this obviously won't work for all the reasons it hasn't worked before, but this is google after all. If anybody could make it work it's probably them. I really don't want game streaming to become any sort of standard.

see what

Attached: 1543296692872.jpg (588x644, 34K)

I don't live a swamp and saves can be backed up. I can just keep making backups and store shit on tape drives if I need to.

They're almost too big for any average person to have a backup of. I mean, shit, the average PS3 game is like 20 gigs, and a fullset is around 1100 games. Around 24200 GiB worth of data for that alone. Christ.

I know you can, I personally have a hard time finding reliable uploads of a lot of stuff.

It won't go overnight but little by little. You don't sink a boat by nuking it from orbit.

/g/ is full of retards from Yea Forums who just want to know what the best GPU is for the $2000 budget. Asking stupid questions like
>is the 1080ti gud????

Roughly how big is the entire console library up to and including the ps2? Are there easy downloads that just include everything so I don't have to manually download every game? About to order 8tb more storage.

Just stop then

Attached: 2967487_p0.jpg (700x700, 270K)

see what?

Anyone have a link to all the roms and isos cached from emuparadise?

/g/ like any other boards, will call retard to anyone. Just lurk. They usually have data hoarding general concealed as home server general.

You are right, it's not. If it were then a lot of things would already be fucked. There's nothing wrong with starting to hoard games that are in no way guaranteed to stick around on their own, whatever the reason for doing so. It's a time consuming process and the more people who do it, the better.

Everything up to PS1, is roughly 500GiB, not including the Saturn, nor any other disc based systems.

Here's a no-intro set to get you started. Try googling "emuparadise script" if you're dead set on that.

AND WiiShop stuff, not including DLC

Torrents are a godsend.

>There's nothing wrong with starting to hoard games
Good luck, then. But honestly the chances are that you'll get bored of the games long before they vanish anyway.

My backlog will keep me busy for a few more years and that's if I go fast.

Weren't around for OnLive?

>/g/ is full of retards from Yea Forums
>said the /x/-tier retard

I was. That spooked me too. Better safe than sorry is what I say.

>That spooked me too
so how dumb did you feel afterwards

Why does she need condoms?

Not at all. Like I said, better safe than sorry. I do feel dumb for not starting to backup stuff then.

Where?

Bottom right. Also some pantsu

Way ahead of you, OP. I've been doing the same thing for a couple of years now, and my backlog has grown to outrageous proportions. There are some games that I haven't even taken out of their damn box.
I'm slowly making my way through it, but it's hard to not keep coming back to THAT game, you know? The one that you can just boot up and have a blast with it, the roguelike to be more specific.

In any case, I am pretty much covered for the years to come.
I'm a bit concerned about my cartridges though. From what I understand, they all have an expiration date, right?

Attached: 9A5A76AE-81AC-4083-A5A4-9C44F0FA21CC.jpg (1200x1170, 253K)

idiots

You are a fucking retard if you didn't hoard porn, anime , movies, music, games and mods since the 90's.
A lot of stuff is gone from the accessible to mortals web forever already and it will only get worse from here.

Attached: 1346978412860.jpg (560x451, 69K)

you seem pretty based. wWhat games do you run?

I'm not sure about cartridge's and their expiration date, though I've heard varying claims stating they'll die within the next 5 years or in like a thousand. Just keep backups and you'll be fine, I say.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best is right now.
Better late than never.

I think you're being to optimistic about a crash happening soon, people are buying more and more games, also emulation makes stockpiling old games pointless

Doesn't help that some stuff is stuck on private trackers or downright never shared. Is anything substantial missing besides maybe some old anime?

I'm also planing on scanning any manuals I come across. Not just games. I find a lot of old manuals to be of absolute shit quality so if I can store them so they can be rescanned at a later date then that'd be great.
Also where do you think those dumps of games to be used for emulation are being sourced? I will, for sure, pirate what I can, but I'll be sure to do my fair share back and find some way to contribute to it.

There's thousands of japanese / non NA region games that are just rotting places never being dumped.

>Better late than never
Actually, no. You've already missed too much.

Then share your stuff, user. I'll be sure to dump my own shit if it's not able to be found.

Data he can't have is worthless to him. It may as well have never existed, and there's plenty more content to fill whatever imaginary void you try to impose on others with your exclusive hoard.

Also you need to understand why the first crash even happen, the market was oversaturated with shitty games and consoles and no one was buying, with only 3 consoles on the market and reviews being easily accessible plus social media, another video game crash is really unlikely to happen

Why should I share with someone who has less than me?

youtube.com/watch?v=BeFnQrgtZ9k
>Google stadia controller
>Button in the middle of the controller for sharing to youtube
>Another button, also in the middle, for starting google assistant
Ok, I take it back. There is no way this thing will succeed, even if it's google. They have obviously not thought this through enough.

Attached: 1517180412486.jpg (520x600, 97K)

>I'm also planing on scanning any manuals I come across
user if all you have is PS3/360 stuff you really aren't contributing.

>roleplaying
yikes

she's a girl, even if she's a disgusting slob she could still find some mongrel that'd fuck her

While I admire what you're trying to do, you're jumping on the archival bandwagon a little late like others have said. But at least you'll be good for seeding.

NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND
THAT TWO YEAR EVENT IN BURGERLAND DECADES BEFORE I WAS BORN
IT COULD HAPPEN!!!!

I'm not really sure how I'll contribute them. I'll find something I guess.

Why would I want to play my games less?

Attached: 1542007304356.gif (420x305, 3.46M)

Maybe crash is the wrong word. Maybe "Demise of the Way We Know Games" is more apt.
