Depends on the game. In Nocturne for example, it's raw RNG.

The only non RNG elements is that when it comes to actual requests, certain personality types are weighted toward certain behaviours and reactions. For example, the bratty female type will keep asking for shit as long as you keep giving it.

I started with Kyuuyaku and loved it, it's still my favorite in the series. Next, I played smt1, which isn't bad but feels kinda weak after a certain point in the game, then smt2 which is amazing but has a lot of backtracking, then if... which I found really fun and reminded me of kyuuyaku but it has that fucking sloth dungeon which automatically makes it a bad game, and now I'm playing Nocturne and having fun with it. I'd say just go with whatever game looks the most appealing to you

I've only played 4,4A and SJ Redux so far but a recurring issue I've noticed is that around lategame you really start feeling the drought in demon fusions. Like it's 1-3 demons per level so if those particular ones aren't good enough you have to stick to your underleveled demons you've been using or delve into special fusions which rapes your macca supply.

Persona only has waifus as its main selling point, that's why it attracts so much scum.

The music was incredible and even though every environment was grimdark I loved the architecture.

How does DDS2 fare in comparison?

I found it to be an endless grating journey, trying to beat you into submission with it's length, teleporter maze and endless chanting music with industrial noises.
I can see why most people hated it especially if they just wanted it to get over it and close out the game, but I embraced it and it was an entrancing experience far more enjoyable than the endless maze with the fiends for example.

All SMT fusion systems are better than Persona's because it's used for 3 party members instead of 1

I'm one of those fags that forces classes on to my party. I used Serph as a Black Mage type character, Argilla as a healer, Cielo dealt the status ailments, Heat was Physical damage dealer/Tank, and Gale was an all round "red mage" type.
I feel like doing this sort of makes the battles a bit more of a strategic challenge as you need to swap in party members to do specific jobs; because in games like DDS it's all too easy to just make every character the same.

Does DDS2 force your party composition all the time? I can't stand games that do that because it majorly fucks up the class thing. There's nothing worse than losing all your healers for dungeons at a time or your main damage dealer just decides to fuck off.

We can talk about sales all day long, but they objectively had some of the best story and characters in the Persona series. If you unironically think any of the new gen Persona games have better plot, you're the reason why the series panders to the common denominator of waifufags and otaku. SMT 1 is a broken mess gamplaywise, destroyed by zio, hinokagutsuchi and ailment bullets so every boss is piss easy.
It's also famous for numerous softlocks in the endgame so how did you download the game but not pick up on that?

This is my first SMT game, so dumbass me though “hmmmm maybe I’ll beat them in release order” and started with NOT the iOS or GBA remake, but the original SNES game. I had no idea what I was getting myself into and I paid the price for my curiosity. I could just watch the ending, but honestly, with how much time I spent on this garbage video game, it would probably just feel humiliating. I thought this game would be a simple and straightforward RPG, a decent point to start as to where the series got its roots, but what I got was a fucking mess of a video game. Nowhere to go but up from here, I guess.

It's optional since you can just rush to the chaos/law/neutral points anyway
