This is true but Sony is a Western company now. They're based out of California now and that's where they get their marching orders. The PS4 is practically identical to the Xbox brand in how it functions and way they peddle their services to you. Only Nintendo still makes games machines.

Or when they made an overpriced console so they could shill their bluray tech? Sony sold out at the PS3, the PS2 was the last Japanese philosophy console that came out of them.
Sony has literally been around since ww2. It was formed as an effort to rebuild Japan after the war. And they have been one of the most influential tech companies for the most part of the XX century.
I mean in terms of UI design philosophy and commercial plans which they sell to the user. This is not a console kiddie war shitpost, I'm talking about commercial philosophy, including the kinds of game they prioritize.
If this thing picks up momentum it'll unironically be the end of AAA games.

and they still get major support from japanese companies like Atlus, Sega, Square Enix and Capcom, hell even going as far as getting exlcusive releases from those companies without even paying them

I mean, I've enjoyed their products. But Sony has also announced that they want to move away from small niche things and move towards even more big blockbusters games like Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica games so don't expect Sony to be giving Japanese creatives much attention in the future.
