I think Circle is rated just fine, above HoD but not by much. DSS fucking sucks and the overabundance of pallete swaps hinders the exploration.

I don't understand the gripe about the DSS except for completionists, since it's pretty clear you're not expected to get every card in one run. Luckily Wizard mode is a thing. I wish KCEK got to make another 2D Castlevania with more resources. It's a wonder they weren't back brought on considering CotM was selling GBAs and Harmony was such a black sheep. Probably a good thing though since Aria turned out so fantastic.

"Every card"? Try "more than two". Most people I saw that played this game with no guides had around four cards, five tops - and once you see how strong they are and how easier they make a game that's quite hard, it's just even more infuriating. My first run I had the flaming whip and the rose whip DSS, and that's it.
As for Wizard Mode, it's unlocked upon completion, so it's pretty much moot.

Really? I played with Luck-plus accessories and found probably 10 cards total including both rows, maybe more, on my first playthrough.

The Gauntlet arena has a card that is almost impossible to get.

Considering every card has around 2% drop rate, there's no way to knowing who drops what, and only 1 type of monster drops each card, you either grinded the everloving fuck out of that game or you're extremely lucky.

I didn't grind at all. I made sure to wear the highest luck boosting accessories at all times that didn't fully necessitate better defense though.
