Why do game journos desperately want games to be politically when people who actually play games want the opposite? What causes the divide?

Fuck off.

Kys resetera

Games journalists need controversy to write about and gamers just want fun games to play

Feels like you are misrepresenting what he said. He is saying that political games should stop pretending to be apolitical.

See

stop shilling for this fat faggot

We just had this thread

No? He straight up said he wanted the game to be more political and complained the devs aren't talking about politics on twitter.

he didn't say that at all. he argued that games are inherently political, infact it's hard to tell any story that doesn't have some sort of idealogy attached to it. and he's making fun of idiots who pretend there aren't meanings behind this shit.
Do some actual research

Watched that fat fuck's video and it was pretty hilarious how much Ubisoft wants to pander to gamers now by saying their game isn't political. Even though it's a Tom Clancy game about overthrowing the government.
His main point was that games are basically all inherently political just because of their subjects. I think the point is gamers don't like Politically Correct "enhancements"/censorship devs seem to keep adding these days, eg. like how Battlefield V has cyborg women in a "realistic" WW2 sim.

Go fabricate outrage in 8ch. We're just recovering from the damage GamerGate caused.

No he said that games like Detroit: Become Human should stop pretending it isn't about civil rights movement.

>Expecting Yea Forums to do anything but throw a hissy fit over nothing

You dont overthrow the govt in the game.
Shitty youtuber makes bad point, spread by idiot user.

because imagine what kind of faggot becomes a video game 'journalist'

PS. its the kind of stupid kid who goes to journalism school

Why were people more hung up about women being in WW2 than cyberpunk being in WW2?

>every game is political
But that's even dumber.

the fuck kind of politics does Vib-Ribbon have then?

>actually defending the fat fuck
What happened to Yea Forums?

They are embarrassed to work in such a low brow medium and want it to be about politics so they can pretend their reviews are important.
Most are only game journos because they couldn't get better journalism gigs elsewhere

Wasn't gamergate caused because some woman was sleeping with journalists for good reviews for her game? How the fuck did it become gamers' fault? Fucking women never take responsibility.

I am not even defending him, just pointing out what he actually said.

Because if games get political, all of a sudden their jobs seem less like failures who couldn't make the cut in actual journalism. The problem is gaming journalism is filled to the brim with faggots who don't like games.

It doesn't take much to fix the problem really. Just stop visiting those sites for """Reviews""". Start finding a channel on youtube that actually seems to like games you do and listen to them if you must listen to something.

Stop shit ass thread likes this would help too.

It started because journos were/are corrupt fucks, but then most retards focussed on bitches like Anita and Zoey. The journos took advantage of that and labeled GamerGate as a "misogynistic movement against women in videogames blah blah" and ruining any credibility it had.

Social conformity. If you don't follow the tune as the game describes Vibri becomes looked upon as less than human, being turned into a fucking frog and worm as punishment. Doing well lets her ascend to Queen, which has it's own social conatations.

yeah figured it would be something like that. journalists need to hang.

It was more the fact journos were literally in bed with a talentless hack whose shitty Twine game was only ever played because she was friends with and fucking with the San Francisco games media. It wasn't until her boyfriend found out he had been cucked that this came to light and before then journos never even thought to disclose that they were promoting said shitty Twine game because they personally knew her.

>Clarifying a statement is defending him
I think his opinions are mostly retarded and he's a cuck, but I also think that you should portray what he said accurately so people know how retarded he is.

A bunch of retards became obsessed with culture wars and bitching at feminists on twitter and turned the movement into some weird right wing thing.

And what's the point of any of this? Did the devs even use these things intentionally? Did anybody who played the game have a single political thought about it until just now?

Saying everything is political is a shitty argument because whatever is in there is utterly negligible in 99% of media because it's both unintended by the creator and ignored by the audience.

Why does Yea Forums get very upset with politics in games now, when the games they praise are political?

They're not real journalists, they're professionally outraged just for clicks.

>Yea Forums
>praise metal gear
Maybe nu-Yea Forums

Look at this post. Yea Forums retroactively bashes Kojima because he was one of the biggest forces that moved players away from Nintendo's model of Cartoon Man Reaches Star being the only game in existence (SEGA had already done much of this work, the biggest example probably being Comix Zone, but I digress)
More or less all game discussion on Yea Forums can be thought of as people raging against the things that made Nintendo barely relevant, and this can include vague abstractions such as Story and Online multiplayer in general, in addition to specific franchises and people like Sonic/Gran Turismo and Kojima/Gabe Newell.
If Nintendo's tradition-obsessed development process couldn't conceive of it and it succeeded, Yea Forums dislikes it defacto.
Truly a site only good for satire

tldr

Nice selfie, loser.

t.incel

That's the whole discussion of the thread. People will find political meaning in fucking anything, even if the creators never intended it.
So should we be looking for these politics or not? Especially if the creator says there are no politics when there most probably is though.

>too retarded to read

>And what's the point of any of this?
not him but idk it's interesting to think about
>Did the devs even use these things intentionally?
why does that make something not political?
>Did anybody who played the game have a single political thought about it until just now?
why does that make something not political?

political doesn't necessarily imply a call to action. don't get mad just because your a brainlet user

>go to read interview
>first line
>FIRST LINE
>"Polygon: It’s a very charged political climate in this country."

VIDEOGAMES

I'm not the one obsessing over a sub dirtying their precious safe space, projecto.

Not him, but developers intentions arent always relevant to how a game can be interpreted. For example, this NPC (youtu.be/He09JaBVZdE) in Deus Ex Human Revolution speaks like a racist caricature, but I'm certain the devs at Eidos didnt intend for it to appear that way.

>call out obtuse post for being obtuse
>"OBSESSED!!!!!!!"

>user see’s a repost of a repost
>tell OP to fuck off
>WTF. PEOPLE DEFEND THE GUYS STUPID LIBS GET DABED ON.

Normal people don't want politics in games because they're sick of hearing about it in real life. /pol/ and Resetera are both insane and I get enough of them browsing Yea Forums, and then when I leave this place I get left/right leaning websites and newspapers constantly posting biased stories with mountains of horse shit.

Just leave my fucking video games alone and take your toxic bullshit with you.

Games are not and should not be inherently political. They are games.

What exactly is political about Mario Kart?

Politics are in everything.
Everything is political.

How's this for a political game, Jim?

Attached: IMG_4107.png (504x378, 210K)

metal gear does not push an ideology, or at least it does not do so very effectively. Perhaps it is political, but it is not very politicized.

The Blueshell is a sign of communism. It doesn't let the most skilled progress in order to favour everyone else being able to compete at a similar level.

I do so love when people change the meaning of words to fit their ideology

>If I stretch the definition passed its actual meaning then I can make anything fit under this word!

that's just reading too much into a bullshit mechanic though

Why did you think this thread was interesting or worthwhile enough to make again OP?

Last time I checked, the blue shell doesn’t take the wealth of the racers, and forms a centeralized economy governed by government officials of the Mushroom Kingdom.
It’s just a fucking race game you delusion 14 yo. Now go back on facebook to tell your friends about how Ganon is Muslim and did 9/11, or how Pokemon is cockfighting with free healthcare.

Not him but the Mario series as a whole features princessess and kingdoms, which indicates the existence of a monarchy.
