>new system
>no backwards compatibility
New system
Nintendo and Sony don't do BC anymore, and no one cares about Xbox.
Why do you think console manufacturers make closed garden boxes with no swappable components to begin with? The whole format is designed to keep you paying for shit you don't technically need.
who needs BC wghen you can just emulate.
>new system with backwards compatibility of your last 2 systems
>Worst selling console in the company's history
Really makes WiiU think, huh?
It works for me on PC
Oh yeah, how are those DOSbox games without using a VM?
>it sold bad because of BC
Youre legitimately retarded
Why without? If it works, it works.
He's saying that BC alone doesn't make or break a console, you fucking mouthbreather.
It clearly doesn't work if you have to emulate an older version to play them. If it worked then no extra steps would be necessary outside of standard installation and play.
>how is that backwards compatibility without the backwards compatibility???
What did he mean by this? Also DOSbox is the emulator to begin with, you are probably talking about DOS games which still work without emulation but can have crazy issues like running at 100000% speed since they were designed for the slowass processors of their time.
You are retarded, stick to your shitbox threads instead of making a fool of yourself.
This. You faggots have shown you'll buy a non-BC console and, what's worse, you'll rebuy a game you own in digital format for only that console.
>playing old games
didn't say it sold bad cus of it. But it certainly didnt help sales. Maybe that's whys companies don't give a shit?
Especially when you look at Xbone. It's easily going to be last place this gen and their backwards compat work has been fucking exemplary.
Also Switch has resold about 35 million units worth of WiiU ported games again alone.
>buys new system to play old games
so this is the intelligence of consolefags
>cus
Yikes, a phoneposter
>DOSbox games
Well when you look at the Xbone and how it upscales and can even improve performance then why not?
>excuses anti-consumer practices like artificial compatibility barriers
so this is the intelligence of corporate drones
>without using a VM
Why not
>Nintendo and Sony don't do BC anymore
Nintendo dropped the PowerPC architecture from the Nintendo GameCube, Wii and Wii-U family to give third parties a little more flexibility. The Switch is using a modified Tegra chipset. Backwards compatibility wasn't possible for the Switch because of manufacturing costs. Guaranteed that Nintendo's next system will be BC with the Switch, though.I doubt Nintendo will switch from ARM.
>Guaranteed that Nintendo's next system will be BC with the Switch, though
It won't.
Like said, they realized they make more money selling remasters of last gen games, rather than including BC.
So it won't have it.
Metroid Prime 4 will be a dual-release game like BOTW was. No BC
>It won't.
Why wouldn't it? Does your uncle have insider knowledge at NOA? If Nintendo goes with another ARM chipset, then there is no reason not to include BC.
>Why wouldn't it?
I just explained why. Did you even read my post beyond that line?
It's pretty likely that both next gen consoles will have BC.
i think chances are the switch won't be BC with the next console, but mostly because i think it'll use discs and not carts
impossible to tell though
Not really, reselling old games is hugely profitable right now and Nintendo loves to fundamentally change their console every generation which makes it even more unlikely.
But how will they give loyal players from previous generations (or people who win at the yard sale lottery) an advantage over newbies in the Pokecollectathon?
>paying 3 times more for a game because its new
Publishers normalized the practice of selling old games for full price nowadays so that's not an issue anymore!
>i think chances are the switch won't be BC with the next console, but mostly because i think it'll use discs and not carts
>impossible to tell though
Not if they make another hybrid handheld. disc drives are a drain on battery life.
microsoft has fully committed to the whole backward compatibility thing, both playstation and xbox are going to be based on the same architecture as the previous consoles, and both consoles are gonna need to justify themselves with no games at launch
>Not if they make another hybrid handheld
that's what the impossible to tell bit it about
unsure if they make another hybrid or not
>sip crack
aah nothing like playing pokemon gold on the newest nintendo
You just buy high brand games I suppose. There are plenty of 5 dollar or less DS games if you really wanted
