What would you like to see in a new Warcraft game?
Also, would you want it to be an RTS sequel or something else?

Never played wow but was a big fan of wc3, I would like to see the wow story in rts form.
Wc3 expansion on top of reforge
Maybe an action rpg experience. I’d like to have responsive controls and exploration within Azeroth.
Azeroth Mount Racing
[Spoiler]only half joking
Warcraft doesn't need new games.
Warcraft 3 editor can make whatever game we want. I just want Blizzard to improve the editor even further.
I was thinking about that the other day.
I loved WC2 as a kid and what made me interested in WoW was that the world that I loved was for me to explore.
But RTS are ded so MMOs are dying too so what else can they do with the world?
I thought about something like Borderlands/Destiny in third person maybe. I would like something big that kept RPG elements in it.
for it to ignore WoW
Current retail wow is basically an arpg.
Huh, they added ability to attack/shoot/cast spells on the move to all classes passively? No? Then its still old static MMO.
Seriously, I was considering coming back to WoW around Legion, but couldn't stand all the standing around while casting/shooting.
I'd like to see Warcraft III Alpha developed into complete game. I was an interesting concept.
Trust me, you don't
Learn how to play better then faggot
Let a smaller studio make a Chivalry/Battlefront game with Warcraft lore and design.
That or a fun spinoff city builder/civ clone
I would like to see Blizzard die a horrible, painful death.
That's all.
Its not about not being able to dodge, its about the feel. Standing around feels stupid and not exciting.
what about Warcraft: Total War
Nothing. Warcraft has lost my interest. There's much cooler universes out there.
Incredibly distant prequel.
Factions are:
>Titans
>Trolls
>NElves
>Black Empire
>Burning Legion
Yep. I simply don't care anymore. Wouldn't care if we ever got another Warcraft game. Fuck nublizzard.
This isn't some garbage world where you can flick a wand and say words and shit explodes.
Magic requires you to draw mana and shape it into your spell, requiring attention and detail. For those going into battle with it, it would be honestly a dangerous job that the fastest casting spells are low damage and puny.
Try running and doing a crossword at the same time. That is what spellcasting in WoW is like.
FPS RPG
Like Skyrim.
May be.
But it still makes the game feel static and boring.
>meanwhile, blood elves exists
git gud
>Titans
Ugh, one of the worst features of the setting, and that's saying something when it also includes Gnomes.
I really don't understand Blizz's titan boner.
Blood Elves aren't exempt from this. They too must rely on some protection to cast meteors or Blizzards. The Lord Admiral herself stands still to cast magic to freeze an island sized iceburg on the ocean and change the weather.
People who want fast moving shit should stay to modern video games where Aim Assit helps them. If not, they cry for Splash Damage weapons. They don't understand the need of focus and are hyperactive shittards that die fast. Like
Pardon. Meant and not
Ulduar was dope, but also they lost all sense of mystery with it, I included them because they can be a stand in for humans while trolls are a stand in for orcs.
>Aim Assit (sic)
We are talking about MMOs, you idiot, where spells are generally homing
And you obviously need more focus to move and execute rotation at the same time than doing only one or the other at any given moment.
never ever
this
Ugh, this actually hurts. Almost physically.
I'm so glad I bought original Warcraft 3 some weeks before before they removed it from the store.
Git gud and accept harnassing massive power is cooler then running like a faggot and flinging cantrips
>WRITER Christie Golden
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
Solo game that would play like Gothic or Dragon's Dogma where you are not some no name but actually a chosen one who would meet a lot of famous characters from WOW.
>Jaina and Sylvanas
Went from wanting to buy it to not even wanting to pirate it.
Fireball is not massive power. Shadowbolt is not massive power.
In general, MMOs with free movement do have occasional spells and attacks you have to stand still for - and those indeed have the feel of harnessing massive power, because they are so rare and have powerful effects.
But standing still to execute your class's basic attack move is beyond stupid.
sadly, I'm pretty sure they will hide some of editor's functionality in exclusively in Reforged editor
then again, I can just pirate Reforged for editor and import maps into normal Warcraft III.
the story is cool until cataclysm. wow story died with arthas
A total reboot of the entire series where it return to it orcs vs human roots. Though even that couldn't save it since there's just too much baggage and expectations
WoW killed it, there's just no going back, so better to just let the series die and make something new instead.,
I enjoyed Pandaria and its lore.
It was decent but so disconnected from actual Warcraft it could've been a separate game in separate IP.
how do they manage to shit out so much worthless trash yet never released a second expansion for warcraft 3
>story died with arthas
So Frozen Throne then?
Not warcraft specific, but i'd love to see this.
Git gud and accept that having good gameplay is preferable to having good lore.
HoTS visuals
Wow number of factions
RTS
>Garona and that queen chick from Warcraft movie are revealed to have been main driving forces, with Llane, Lothar and Blackhand being simply dumb muscle, while Gul'dan is designated scapegoat to pin all Horde atrocities on, so they can retain their honour.
that would be amazing
I wanna see a single player RPG based in the alternate timeline draenor in BFA.
The cool one where the draenei go full fanatic and the orcs use industrial technology together with guns and motorcycles.
That shit would be cool.
>a new Warcraft game?
I don't want to see it, Nublizz is trash.
>wow number of factions
so 2 shit factions?
>return it to its humans vs orcs roots
Please god no. WoW tried that almost as much as pokemon panders to genwunners and every time its terrible. Like it or not the series peaked in WC3 with undead and nelves; while passing over genuine human and orc campaigns in the expansion.
Warcraft story died with Ner'zhul.
When they announced that Arthas "killed" the spirit of Ner'zhul and is sole personality of the Lich King was the most disappointing moment in the whole of WotLK for me. It even beat the "Illidan is a villain now... for no reason. And we kill him just because." from TBC.
I feel like the main driving factor in Warcraft is the story. If Blizzard can’t s factor, any Warcraft game, no matter the format, will be pretty bad.
So... Starcraft?
its time for a Warcraft-themed diablo rip off, blizzards specialty
So you want a warhammer game?
This is literally just Starcraft if the Terrans were replaced by “Orcs in Space”.
on a mobile
Eh, why not? Those are pretty good lately.
2D Fightan Warcraft
never ever
>industrial technology together with guns and motorcycles.
No, this shit ruined the setting. It was okayish in War3 where it was only present in traces but WoW just went full retard with it, along with the spaceships and aliens and shit.
Well, yeah, just without the zerg and with the draenor specific races like the ogres and those bird-fucks (arrakoa?).
The shitty scenario for mag'har orcs in BFA was more appealing to me as a game than the entirety of BFA.
Playing an orc with a gun riding a motorcycle in a desert on an alien world just sounds so metal to me.
No you can still include that. I mean more just go back to when that was more of the main focus/backdrop rather than *insert generic once good now corrupted BBEG wants to destroy/dominate/purge the world for the 6000th time*. Back to when it felt like Warcraft had some sort of actual identity of it's own rather than just being a generic fantasy world.
Though it would still be better just letting it die and making something new.
>WoW tried that
They haven't "tried that" since vanilla wow.
If you are talking about BFA its fucking joke that spits in the face of anything related to "war" and "craft"
give it more of a poe / mmo feel and blizzard would hit the jackpot
That's why the alternate timeline fuckery of draenor is perfect.
Who gives a shit about ALTERNATE TIMELINE which is literally a fancier way of saying non-canon.
>arrakoa
I'd love a game with more focus on them
Actually a Warcraft 4 that plays on Draenor before Warcraft 1 could be cool. Just seeing the struggle between the different races there.
Maybe throw in some general survival elements like food gathering and shelter building
RTS with single-player campaign focus.
>arrakoa
>I'd love a game with more focus on them
consider the following
>Orcs have kidnapped Arrakoa eggs and hid them in their fortresses
>flightless Arrakoa developed catapults and try to destroy the fortresses by launching themselves at them
>Warcraft Angry Birds
>do you guys not have phones
>footman has actually sensible armour, not counting oversized greaves
>LET"S GIVE HIM STUPID OVERSIZED MEME PAULDRONS AND SENSELESS HIPGUARDS!
jesus christ
its like modern Blizzard management actively HATES everything older Blizzard made and purposefully takes a huge steaming dump on it
They should just make a second life of Warcraft. Start with stormwind and orgrimmar and expand out.
The lore is the only good thing to come from the IP
No way I can trust current state of blizzard on doing a good video game regardless of genre
Is it just me, or does the footman have weird as fuck proportions? His upper torso looks too long
Mobile games are looking better and better
Of course they do. Shitting on the original game is literally what remakes are for.
They even turned down the setting in the comparison screenshots of WC3 and the Reforged one to drive the point home.
Was it this one?
I haven't played AoE remake yet, but screenshots at least look good
Nigger, Warcraft was always about the "rule of cool", which means humans having to wear oversized and overdesigned armors and big ass hammers, orc wearing almost no armor and using huge wood cutting axes, and other retarded magic bullshit.
That's why it's called High or Epic Fantasy. It's about feeling cool and powerful, and not about realism. And if somehow it doesn't tickle your fancy, then you can fuck off some other fantasy thta follows realism to the absurd levels.
there were no meme pauldrons before WoW though
>there were no meme pauldrons before WoW though
sure thing, chief
>posts Reforged version
haha nice try faggot
Yeah. Shadows are turned off, for instance.
I heavily dislike the practice of remakes. Now, that's not to say the people behind it actively sought to fuck up, but in AoE's case, they changed the artstyle quite a lot. The game is top-notch from a technical standpoint, but rubbish from an artistic one. Which is undestandable, it was made by a random rabble of modders who have proven themselves to only be able to do stuff for AoE2 already.
There's a new soundtrack and slight improvements to the game mechanics, but that's about it.
Huh, I mostly saw the screenshots, especially the one you posted, and it seems kinda faithful translation of original game. Legion are spot on, for instance.
But I haven't actually played it yet, so I'll trust you.
Truth be told, the grey blobs that WC3 uses as shadows would hardly work in WC3 favour in comparison.
Imagine defending wow's combat system
There's nothing more illustrative of old Blizzard vs nuBlizzard than pic related
I don't think Total War model would work for Warcraft
>Warhammer: Total War
bajillion playable factions and bajillion NPC factions
>Warcraft: Total War
Horde
Alliance
You underestimate just how gigantic an impact on scene quality shadows have.
There's no way for it to look better than a game from 16 years into the future BUT the game's visuals are definitely degraded by the lack of said shadows.
And there was literally no reason to do that other than a quite literal "Look how absolutely shite this game looks and how much better our version is."
WC3's downgraded screenshots have the same issue like this recent shot of the supposed VTM Remake.
Does this look good or off? It looks off. Why? If you try and look closer, you'll see the lack of shadows all around the place. Like the chair in the lower left corner which should be casting a fuckton of shadows but is just placed there over a plaininly visible reflection of strong light. That's what makes visuals look game-y and why even those amorphous blobs back in 2002 made a world of a difference.
>vampires cast no shadows
>its a chair that probably belongs to a vampire
>its a vampire chair, so it casts no shadows
makes sense to me
What happened to soul?
>tfw even with shadows turned off the top looks better because the shadows are built into the textures.
Give me a (you) if you're old enough to remember when WC3 was originally supposed to be a strategy/role playing game, that got canned and eventually turned into WoW.
I still remember the screenshots of the wolf riders in the magazines back in the day.
What I'm saying is: we need another shot at the RPG thing.
>the series peaked in WC3 with undead and nelves
said nobody ever
455060696
which is what I said here no (You) for (You)
The first time ever I heard my father swear was soon after Warcraft III came out and as a little kid I was playing exclusively "cool" Undead and Night Elves, and Dad exasperated said "Why do you only play these shits?"
BASED DAD
Not the alpha you nerd, the original plan before they tried the stuff that later games like DoW2 would do.
Like way before.
That was Alpha, you faggot
No you moron. Do I literally have to repeat myself?
Just remembered how good the WC2 soundtrack is.
It was done before Warcraft 3 too
Check out Rage of Mages games, I think they were first to do that.
I want Blizzard Smash
Okay, then I have no idea what you're talking about.
Earliest I'm aware of was WC3 alpha, where you had a hero or two and a few regular units and it played like RPG with 3rd person camera. You had a mostly static base that you occassionally upgraded and got units from, and that's it. And Necromancer used mana to cast spells on the base instead of building shit.
I'm not aware of anything before that.
Damn straight, Human 2 could be the theme for the entire franchise. Warcraft 3 is in my top 10 games ever and even I admit Warcraft 2 was the peak when it comes to music.
A roleplaying game.
Let's have a moment of appreciation for Death Knight's voice lines
Honestly perfection all the way through.
I'm old enough to remember that they made the whole thing, played it and found out it sounded good in theory but was just a trash game in practice.
Also, WoW had nothing to do with it, the game was developed and cancelled alongside it. If anything, it was somewhat like what Dungeon Siege would end up being.
why are hots models so fucking good?
a br game set in the warcraft universe
you can have flying mounts
you don't loot equipment but random talents
spells can interact with the environment, you can freeze water and burn trees
Warcraft 2 music was ALL great, but Warcraft III had more tracks. And you have to admit these are awesome.

HotS team is apparently the last people at Blizzard who appreciate Blizzard games. See their portrayals of Thrall, Sylvanas, etc. I guess they put same care into models.
>Arthas' Theme
I'm kinda sad this never took off
It's the classic Blizzard quality (old team members and philosophy) but with modern tech and resources, most of their other teams are completely new, for example the Reforged team is all new hires first brought on for the Starcraft remaster. They're all WoWbabs and are exporting the model work to China, which is actually fairly noticeable in the remaster itself.
This is the very last thing they should do.
If anything they should do the very opposite, and ignore WoW and the WoW expanded universe, 100%, And just make WC4 as if WoW had never even been a thing.
The way WoW forced them to just churn out new story and more lore and then more lore and new story again and again, and again and again and again ad nauseam. Killed Warcraft. But to keep people subscribed the game needed more content and that required more writing. It became clear that they started to write because they needed to over actually writing something because they had good ideas.
And yet in spite of that they just kept going. The novels don't help either.
>turns your soundtrack into kino
I bet the sheep don't even explode in nucraft
Why are all warcraft books so poorly written and how do they keep managing to sell them?
It's not as if they're lacking money to get a better writer.
>ignore WoW and the WoW expanded universe, 100%, And just make WC4 as if WoW had never even been a thing
I'm trying to make a multi-map RPG in Warcraft 3 based on that premise. When you try to follow logic and established story threads instead of cramming the world into MMO package you get a surprisingly different outcome. E.g. I came to conclusion that new main kingdom of humans would be Stromgarde, not Stormwind. Stormwind is too far and too beaten up, Stromgarde was basically untouched by the Scourge and natural place for Lordaeron refugees to go to.
>mfw they brought it back for BFA
Besides Lore, WoW also fucked up Warcraft from gameplay perspective (which also translates into lore fuckups, in a roundabout way).
They took rich and unique classes like Blood Mage, Warden, Priestess of the Moon, gutted them, and stuffed bits and pieces of them into the blandest, most boring, most generic D&D-tier classes. Ugh.
Warcraft M&B: Bannever
Exactly. WoW is just too fucked up and compromised as a direct result of its format.
>reforged has their arms still attached to their bodies
I know it's not a huge deal but I kinda miss when WC was a bit edgy
>They're all WoWbabs and are exporting the model work to China, which is actually fairly noticeable in the remaster itself.
Actually, it's Malaysia.
And I wouldn't blame Lemon Sky for it. The people didn't only work on Starcraft, Warcraft and C&C remasters. They actually have a pretty great pedigree, but when WoW-babbies in charge tell you the game has to look like WoW cinematics, then there's fuck all you can do to change that.
every franchise and series would only improve with a kart racing entry
>Kel'thuzad in a little floating Naxxramas
At least part of the crew working on the editor is old Warcraft 3 fans (e.g. a few people from Hive), and presumably some others in Classic Games crew as well
but from what I understand, Reforged is not managed by Classic Games crew
if you mean the hand in the final shot, it twitches even in the original cinematic so it wasn't cut off
>this thread
I like it
>Ragnaros being carried on the shoulders of Majordomo Executus
Arthas, how could you kill your father! And now I have to kill peasants?! What is going on? I don't want to play as a bad g...

...my life for Ner'zhul!
> tfw I'm still interested into Warcraft despite WoW's latest blunders
fucking drug it is
Cause it looks closer to a remaster of WC3 than Reforged, shame about the game being casual garbage though, it had so much potential.
it totally comes off, which makes the twitch SOOOOOOO BRUTAL
RTS with no hero units.
youtube.com
It feels like small kittens crawling all over your chest cavity, doesn't it?
Mate, twitching is the one thing you expect severed things to do.
>yeah I think I'm done with WoW for good
>*trailer for a new expansion drops*
FOR THE ALLIANCE
We're going home, bro
I don't think that's even legal nowadays.
...and then it turns out trailer is the only good thing about the expansion.
I would like to see blizzard dead
well yeah because the gameplay is shit
Music, artstyle, the world, even parts of the story? I still dig all of that.
This is unacceptable what the fuck
Panda ass
>the world, even parts of the story
normally i'd be with you, but IMO BfA hit a new low in making the story boring and even sometimes revolting
MMOs are the worst game format for coherent and interesting stories and worlds.
>can't have major story development if it's not an expansion
>all the important characters are bosses but can't kill off anyone permanently
>the entire world and every zone has to be defined ruining any sense of mystery
>the art style has to be exaggerated in order for "epic loot" to look more appealing
Even in Warcraft 3 the scale was implied and not meant to be literal, the world felt real. Then in WoW you see e.g. the entirety of Eastern Kingdoms and it supposedly contains a total of a hundred houses, give or take.
>all the hours I'm going to sink in to Classic despite getting my life finally in order again
>all that career I could build up
>all the self-improvement I could do
>literally anything else than play the same game I've played since 2006
>hear this
youtube.com
Yup, we're going home bros.
>MMOs are the worst game format for coherent and interesting stories and worlds.
>can't have major story development if it's not an expansion
>all the important characters are bosses but can't kill off anyone permanently
Guild Wars 2 are an MMO who averted those pretty well, I'd say, but too bad the game itself is much too bland and boring. But it IS possible. Shame few MMO makers are willing to experiment.
>blizzard in this day and age
every single fuckin game is the same, every storyline is the same, characters are the same, refferences are the same, achievement names are the same, developers are the same
and the developers are incompetent old sacks of shit that earned everything they have right now back to starcraft and korea and world of warcraft
this company didint make anything good they just got extremly lucky with the time frame settings
I want a female panda to sit on my face
Does anyone know if a bigger version of this map was ever made (by fans, ofc) or if there's a tool to make maps in this style? I really need full Lordaeron subcontinent map in this style.
But what if she accidentally farts
A game that's more than sitting around waiting around to grind tiny increments of faction rep locked behind a timegate would be a good start
AAAAAAAH I CAN HEAR THE CONSTRUCTION NOISES
Hiring writers that know how to make someone give a shit about characters, or story in general. Don't serve all content to everyone on a silver platter, aka introduce difficulty.
looks pretty good, but I like the HotS staff top better
