Obviously the Switch and a lot of the games in its library were being developed while he was still alive.
Now we've gotten to the post-Iwata era of development and suddenly the games have dried up. 2018 was sparse and so is 2019. Prime 4 had to be canned and restarted under Retro.

the wii u was the only worthwhile console for a good chunk of the generation, and one of nintendo's best consoles. the 3ds had games packed with unique ideas you just cant get elsewhere. the ds is the best handheld ever made, and the wii had an admirable focus on one of the most important factors of a game that was (and still is) slowly being forgotten: fun.
this man was a ceo that actually had worked in development for some of the greatest games ever made. he clearly made some bad business decisions, but when it comes to the games he was responsible for and the impact he had on the industry, it's possible one could consider him to be the best person to have ever been in the business. he didnt do stuff for nintendo, he did it for the players.

Kimishima had a lot to do with the Switch succeeding also, including marketing. Marketing was on point unlike Wii U.

Unless you speak of 3DSWare titles like Pushmo and Dillon type games Im not sure what the fuck you're on about, 3DS got the standard slate of sequels and same shit, aside from a few notable exceptions like Kid Icarus. First 2 years of 3DS was very trash. It did not pick up until 2013.

2019 has more titles than 2018 & 2017.
