On that note, I think Argenrost did a twitch stream going over Wald advice and matchups on Saturday, if any of the Wald players are lurking. Might be some good stuff in there. I know he at least went over matchups at one point.

Doing the combos isnt terribly harder than any other member of the cast. Doing optimal damage combos in a real match, which basically demand you confirm right away, is harder than most other characters who can beat into whatever into their main combo route.

That doesn't look very legit but maybe I'll try it sometime.

Speaking of trying to zone Wald, I played brkrdave for the first time at DT since he made a rare appearance for lolimaiko weekend and I got completely bodied like 1-10. His spacing and ability to get in past or punish my usual Wald zoning attempts was unreal, I can see why all the other top players at my locals fear him.

Shoot. Almost was able to clear those teleports but got tripped up in the end anyway. Next time!

I believe if you mash 1AD twice you get chain shift instead of just crouch tech shield. In fact I need to remember to try doubletap 1AD instead of 3DD for mashing CS sometimes since it's safer for a lot of situations.

I think I'm starting to get the idea behind rolling through your fireballs like you say other Linnes do, hippie. It's generally hard reads, though it's pretty safe since I can start the roll outside of your bigger button ranges.

Going to a major is always a great time, it's also a great place to learn since you have top tier players right in front of you to answer questions. As for price, I guess it's a matter of budget. Is that entry and games or just entry? if it's just entry that's pretty steep.

Some characters can get difficult at their optimal routes. Aside from the out of context, maybe cherry-picked personal(?) remarks none of that looks too out of line. It's more bizarre that someone went out of their way to make this. This an uni player thing?

You'd be surprised how many "top players" are willing to give new people the time of day to teach them things and play them.
There's also Norcal Dogfights in Belmont, there might be more but that's the main anime one I'm aware of.

It's all in the bay area in the Bayarea. All of that fighting game activity is condensed in one area. It sucks for me because I live several hours from the Bay Area. The closest major city is Sacramento.

White squares take all the colors you were fighting previously before it when it assigns rank. No clue when it's just whites fighting tho

You have to get a 10 win advantage over people of your same square color. Works on white squares sometimes if they're potentially going to get placed as that color too, at least that's what I'm guessing.

Anything in the mission mode is real and practical.

Every character's 4-x mission modes are pretty real aside from Enkidu and Wagner's. Are they the most optimal? No, pros have found new routes to play with but they are definitely usable.

What are some things I should be doing to improve my Phonon game? I've never been super good at these kinds of fighters but I've been having a blast with UNIST and would love to put some good tiem into it.

It is, mostly watching hippie showed me what i needed. All i need to do is commit it to muscle memory so im not just flailing about under pressure. Need to get out of using the same BnB for everything.

Gorilla basically means, you don't need to practice high execution (like delayed inputs, particularly complicated motions, setplay (like traps) and the like) to get good damage.

He has lots of tools that let me get good damage with less work than a fair amount of the cast..

You should try to finish using 6CC -> 236[B] -> EX Kuuga-> (6CC or j. 6[B]), Sai. It gives better positioning when you want to dump meter for damage.

My brain is constantly fighting to escape it's warm, mushy prison but I need it. So not only do I have to concentrate against my opponent, but I must also battle my own brain for dominance constantly. You wouldn't understand my struggle.

Man I don't know if it's lag or my controller but 4f in PC doesn't feel like 4f on PS4 at all.

Also, the game is a 4 button fighting game (3 main attack buttons and one mechanics-specific button) with focus on using the mechanics (like move cancels) to gain the advantage state over your opponent.

Community-wise it's not too big though we have nightly lobbies for about 3-5 hours Sunday through Thursday starting around the OP time. You can also find people to fight on discord and in the anime fighting games general thread (just be wary of the strange behavior that some of the thread displays).

It's pretty fun though if you're having second thoughts, I'd suggest yar-harring the PC version and seeing if it's to your fancy.

PS4 has 6 frames of extra delay just sort of built into the console. So it it says 4 frames on PS4 you're actually playing on 10.

That only makes it feel even weirder that my dashes and assaults are coming out way more cleanly on PS4 then. I guess it just takes getting used to.
