For playing games from disc the earliest model slims are the best. Small, quiet, and fairly cheap. For piracy then somewhat mid-gen fats are pretty good. Though every model aside from the very last revision works fine. The only issue with fats is that their lasers seem to burn out relatively quick, so you may have to replace or forgo the disc drive entirely.

I never had that online hookup, didn’t even know what games supported it back then.

God damn the PS2 was so good, so many good games and memories tied to it.

I played Battlefield 2 on it. One of the last games to be removed from online playing, I even had to get the username from somebody else cause there was no way to register a new one. Now you can play online through X Link Kai or through an alternative server games like CoD3 and a few others youtube.com/watch?v=hmHtp8dluvQ
