They said they weren't going to update it, then they decided to add the Sheldon's Picks from Splatoon 1 into the game but never gave a time frame for it. Splatfests and everything end in July.

Splatoon 2 is already a fucking demo. Only having 2 maps in rotation every hour is inexcusable, only having Salmon Run available every now and again is inexcusable. The fact that Turf War is basically the only mode if you want to just relax and grind some cash is inexcusable. Both single player campaigns are just time trial challenges.

I love Splatoon 2 but it feels like half a game. I don't know what the latest on S3 is, but it's cheap of Nintendo to release a demo for a game that reaches its EOL in a couple of months.

Map rotation is great and Salmon Run is available 90% of the time anyway.

Salmon Run servers this purpose too. Also Rank basically doesn't matter anymore after they introduced Rank X.

This was from the CoroCoro contest to design a new Gear set to be added to the game. This is like the 3rd or 4th one between Splatoon 1 and 2 but for whatever reason instead of adding this one to the game normally they're going to distribute it by codes that only work with the Japanese version of the game. I'd like to hope there is a chance we'd get it here but considering there are multiple other gear items exclusive to Japan in 2 it seems unlikely.

There is absolutely no reason for this. Fucking none. Rank may not matter, but losing a ranked match nets you absolutely nothing reward-wise.

Only if your team completely shits the bed in the first minute. You get less for losing Ranked but the reward for winning is much higher than turf war so it evens out.

You don't need the Octo expansion, I still haven't gotten it and I love playing Splatoon 2.

Unfortunately, as counter intuitive as it is, timed content and events has shown both in research and real examples that it increases interaction time. The urge to "keep checking back" and the tease of limited content that will be "gone forever" hooks the shit out of people. Other games like Monster Hunter and all those online, gacha, and BR games use it and it's stupidly effective.
Sadly if anything I'd expect for this trend to continue across even more games.

How is Gal Metal? I've seen it in the stores, and considered picking it up.

Its pretty damn fun, learning the first few beats might feel like a chore and the first songs might feel way too easy, while mantaining the beat might feel a bit unintuitive but once it clicks swapping beats feels very natural and fun, definetely worth a pick up.
