God Hand is an inherently different beast to DMC. Any God Hand boss or enemy would be trivialised by air combat and any DMC boss or enemy would be trivialised by the fluidity and freedom of Gene's dodges. Any kind of actual crossover between the two (outside of references) would have to change one or both game styles fundamentally in which case there's no point to it and I can't understand why anyone thinks this should happen.

I was thinking about it while having a shit earlier, despite their promoting it as very easy for newcomers to join in (which it is gameplay-wise at least) 5 is easily the most self-referential game in the series with tons of stuff that would be lost on new people. Griffon, Shadow, Nightmare, Nelo Angelo, Mundus references, Cerberus, Yamato, Vergil, Arkham, Agnus, the Order, Fortuna, Credo, and a fuckton more. Since I know a lot of people jumped on the hype train I'm interested if anyone got 5 without playing through the series beforehand and what you thought about all that, mainly V and his pets and their relation to Vergil. Without any context from previous games does it just come off as an asspull or what? How'd you find it all?

The point is the player will start to get bored and question why he’s even trying to finish the game around the same time that Travis starts to question the same thing about trying to become the #1 assassin. The game works on multiple layers because Travis is a representation of the typical player in more ways than one.

I really want to like this game but I really don't like Nero or V and the game forces me to play half of it with them.

V and his pets definitely seemed like an asspull not knowing that they're previously established. A lot of that still doesn't even make sense, it seems Vergil's goal was pretty much just to rejuvenate his body. A lot of the macguffins are bigtime asspulls, especially the treeheart thing that does literally nothing.
it didn't really detract from the game though, i was way more caught up in nero's angst than the vergil-dante rivalry

Use the neutral gunslinger hat spin. When Dante catches the hat a timed press will let him strike a pose and it pulls all enemies with hats towards him and makes them drop extra orbs. What I did was activate the goddess statue so it creates a checkpoint before the final area, use the hat spin and pull until there are no Chaos left, reload checkpoint, repeat. Got 10 million in like two hours while watching Whose Line clips. I did it on SoS at the time since I just wanted to get the ex taunts out the way and play around with Faust without worrying about orb loss, so dunno if DMD's better; theoretically they have more health so should mean more orbs but I think DTing makes enemies resistant to the pull, give it a try and let us know I guess.

Well For Vergil his Super Corrupt costume just made it so you had unlimted Nelo Angelo play because that was what his DT was turned into but still it was unlimited unnerfed DT.

The only reason why I have any sort of hope for a small, probably 3-5 mission DLC instead of just retreads is because of how the ending cutscene was formatted.
It looks likely that having everyone being able to play every stage will be a part of April's update anyway, so they could make a small campaign then have them playable in BP and normal stages through that.
If they have any ambitions of balance I'd imagine they could start you out with zero orbs at the start of BP and the only resources you have during it are the ones you earn in the palace.

This game is great but the ranking system is fucked. As dante you can just spam sin DT on everything and tank all damage for an s rank with no continues bonus. even if youre trying to score as high as possible and not just scrape by with the S, the system encourages getting to SSS as quickly as possible and stalling there by dealing as little damage as you can. not giving a multiplayer for faster clears and rebalancing to accommodate was a mistake

atm its basically just 'give them an orb for being there', but imo the 'not stylish' option should be a gold orb, and the stylish one should be like double bonus red orbs for that mission or something

if youre stylish you prob dont need the orbs, if you suck then you could use them (plus if you get red orbs you can buy gold orbs anyway or save them for taunts/faust), and itd let people be honest about rating if they want

Final Urizen is one of the hardest bosses in the game on any difficulty, don't give up. Build up Sin DT and spam the shit out of it during his final phase, he's just fucking obnoxious there. You can tell when the phases change when the background starts to shatter, he has like 3.

griffons lunge is consistent if unstylish damage (as is his charge lightning wave (not double check)
side dash and double jump when you see cavalieres swordlance point up (double jump first if ur slow since griffon is more important)
only use nightmare to rez pets, or if youre feeling ballsy let him stay around when the whole arena slows down

it might take awhile, but that was foolproof (literally, i attempted the fight 8 times due to crashing when he went into DT before finding a fix) for me. it becomes more a fight of attrition

Air stinger isn't quite accurate, it's actually a whole new move and can be done on the ground too. Cav R still has super armour, just not as much super armour; haven't done tests or anything but I've used it and shrugged off Caina attacks exactly like normal Cav does.

Orbs are hit dependent as far as I can tell, and DMD enemies can take much more hits than human enemies.

You should farm on Human anyway. You can literally just look away from the screen and mash. You can browse Yea Forums (or whatever the fuck else) while doing it.

you have to use your side hop / griffon hop to dodge for them against some enemies. youll learn this well on mission 14 HaH, its the hardest stage in any difficulty to S rank.

also learn to buffer Shadow's hedgehog while he's in the last hit of a combo since you have enough time, its one of his best moves for keeping everyone safe.

It's my shitty ghetto Star Rave. It's a technical maneuver that's got no purpose other than looking cool if you can manage to do it tightly enough to fit it into combos. Goes like this:

Aerial rave > trickster switch > dash > swordmaster switch > jump cancel > aerial rave > trickster switch

Trickster level 3 lets you teleport towards enemies.
You also get an air-dash, combine that with weapon swapping, and your favorite off-hand weapon and you can come up with some crazy stuff.

>Start with your preferred weapon for combos
>Swap to trickster and teleport to them
>Jump and air-dash away, royal guard, or parry, or weapon swap into more combos depending on the situation
>Rinse and repeat
>Swap to swordmaster or gunslinger for style / stagger potential

But trickster allows you to do other things like
>Teleporting towards vergil when he does his ranged katana bullshit and staggering him out of it
>Having more air mobility in general
>Letting you continue combos with your preferred weapon

as far as I am aware, he'll only use Gaea Rage after a few specific things happen:
1. His pixie has recently cast Dormina
2. You killed one of his demons
3. You reduced his health to half of max
there could be more or I may be wrong, but these are the conditions to trigger his nuke as I remember

It was poorly written and shown. Dante is fucking frothing at the mouth at the thought of having to kill Vergil again and can't wait to get it over with and he mentions it several times. I'd argue that Vergil is less of a fucking asshole than Dante when he revives, since we see him contemplating life when he's by himself. Dante just wants to murder shit, including his brother. They were going to kill each other. That is the entire point of Nero interrupting in the first place, which is why I had a hard time believing Dante just cooled down and he's ok with Vergil all of a sudden, when moments prior to the events he couldn't fucking wait to kill his brother AGAIN.

Rebellion and Sparda have regular round trip, helm breaker without lock on, and prop shredder on one button.

It's honestly all about personal choice. All of them do the exact same damage. (DSD does more damage if you mash summoned swords with it)

I have the same setup, only problem is that sometimes I forget I'm not playing as Dante and do a break-away by accident.

Before Mission 18, Dante was raging but I'm pretty sure stabbing V's gang gave him sometime to cool down. Then Mission 19 starts and he is calm enough to understand that Vergil just wants to beat him so he isn't frothing to impale him again but he still isn't sure Vergil will go on a power trip if Vergil manages to kill him so he's still fighting to kill at that point.

I have shoot on L1, DT on circle, melee on square, and style/cane on triangle; it makes hitting melee, style, and jump in quick succession much easier without having to claw. Nero specifically has bringer on triangle and breakers on R2, since it makes charging breakages easier.

This one move is an exception, Sparda does more damage on all moves where it turns into a scythe/spear

just doing aerial rave in swordmaster while mashing the style button should put dsd ahead already.

If you have problems with it, it might be due to incompatibility between the mod and your game version. Style switcher works on DMC3se v1.3, which is a patch to the 1.1 version (the one that came out originally). You can check your game verdion by clicking on the properties of DMC3se.exe. If you have 1.1 and try to install style switcher, the game won't open. Find the 1.3 patcher on the internet and apply it to your game folder, THEN download the mod and follow the instructions. The mod has been streamlined to be foolproof to install as long as you read the instructions.

That's what happened to me and it worked wonders after I updated to 1.3. If your problem is not related to this, then I don't know how to help you.

All of you got it wrong,

Assuming Yamato doesn't split Vergil cleanly 50/50 since V and Urizen was more like 90/10 in terms of personality but 10/90 in power;

D will be cutscene Dante who is like DMC3 on crack but has to be skillful and stylish enough to pull it off without demonic regeneration and strength.

Ante would be the mindless version of Sin DT but perpetually growling monster that just destroys demons and MUNDUS for screwing his life. Potentially, he could be as strong as Sin DT if he seppuku'd while holding Sparda.

I think the only way multiplayer could ever work is if they somehow created a system that could display the game on 2 seperate displays on the same computer.

You can't have a single screen because you need all the realestate (so no splitscreen) and the camera only following a single player will screw the other over.
Online can't really work because so much shit is happening at once I can not think how that wouldn't absolutely destroy anyone's game with lag.

It literally exists in mission 13 though? It's not like Bloody Palace levels are super intricate. I would be surprised if it isn't the case.
