they are smashfags
Seriously, name one redeeming aspect outside of asymmetrical sticks

The bumpers are large and curved, fitting fingers comfortably.
The most prominent button used in games is the largest one, increasing practicality.
The left joystick is textured so as to grip the ball of the thumb more easily.

They were babies when the gc came so their tiny hands were a perfect fit. The rest of us hate it.

It's pretty bad but the dpad is nice and it gets bonus points for dat Nintendium.

it's objectively dogshit

awful dpad

retarded face buttons

c stick is useless

you'd have to have autism to like it. SNES is the best pad nintendo have made.

Built for SSB

I liked the feel of holding them, but the face buttons are stupid with dumb colors

Don't forget less buttons than DS2/Xbox controller meaning ports would have had gimped inputs or did not bother porting to the GC.

It’s really easy to slide from the A button to x and Y. It makes games like Viewtiful Joe where instant jump dive kick cancels are important way worse on standard diamond controllers.

Because the duke was retardedly big and uncomfortable to hold even for giants.
Dualshock 2 was arguably the most practical but felt like you were holding a plastic tissue that could snap in half at any moment.
The gamecube controller fit most hands nicely and had actual weight to it.
The best controller was of course the S when it came out later for the xbox.

>ONE less button

Position of the face buttons felt great, especially when playing a game like Metroid Prime.

>no select button
>no L3/R3
>in addition to no L1 button
Seems more than ONE less button to me.

I concur. I hate how close together your hans have to be to hold it.

Never looked back when Wii came out.

What games ever used L3/R3 back in the sixth gen era? The only one that seems detrimental is an L1 button.

Its Kanto you retard.

The central A button easily allows all combinations. Compare to the standard diamond difficulty to combine Y + A. The triggers are comfortable and have a nice feel. Definitely not the GOAT but a solid and comfy design.

fpbp
it is a garbage controller in nearly every conceivable way and everyone would agree if it didn't have a Nintendo logo on it.

it is comfy
>perfect ergonomics
>no double shoulder buttons, pressable analog sticks, or second analog stick the same size as the first causes games to use the best possible control scheme
>comfy
>based
>sneed

DS2 is a solid block of onyx. GC slightly flimsier with a stick that doesn't age as well. Duke felt fine, looked like an accident.

GTA is a prominent example. Other games would also use the L3 button to crouch with additional camera functions mapped to R3 like zoom or look-behind.

>The bumpers are large and curved, fitting fingers comfortably.
They also CLACK like nobody's business and have far too much travel
>The most prominent button used in games is the largest one, increasing practicality.
That literally only helps if you're actually retarded and forget where buttons are. It's not inherently more practical to have one button larger than the others even if it is the most commonly used.
>The left joystick is textured so as to grip the ball of the thumb more easily.
The only valid point.

I like gated thumbsticks, I wish they hadn't phased them out. The button layout felt nice for a lot of games desu. I wish they would just perfect it by giving the c-stick the same feel as the joystick and giving it a good dpad and add a second left bumper button.

I use a wide variety of controllers I don't think the GameCube controller does a single thing better than any other controller today. The triggers used to be some of the best, but that changes once you try an Xbone controller personally, has just as wide of a range while having the perfect amount of force. Only nice thing is that satisfying click at the end of the GC's triggers telling you it's fully pressed.
Besides that, the analog triggers actually provide a worse experience for Smash, the pro controller's digital ones are better since nothing is analog in Smash besides movement and aiming. The notches in it don't give you all directions for every Smash ability, some recognize more than eight directions.

>DS2 is a solid block of onyx.
Are you high?
>GC slightly flimsier with a stick that doesn't age as well.
Okay, how high ARE you?

I've got Gamecube controllers that have been used for Smash for the past 18 years that are still functioning, and PS2 controllers that I bought New in box ~7 years ago that I've barely touched that are fucking falling apart.

Okay ima be real with you
I hate how flimsy and fragile the new nintendo controllers are. My Wii U gamepad left analog stick broke and won't register any movement. I have gone through 2 pairs of Left Joy Cons because of the analog stick on the first one and the L and LZ And some D pad buttons being broken and no longer registering on the second one. Its so stupid how 1 joy con is like 50 bucks and a gamepad isn't sold separately at stores. I don't even play for long hours either I just play on weekends cuz of school and work. Yeah im a bit of a smash fag but I mostly use the GC controller for Smash Mario Kart Sonic Mania Rayman Legends Undertale Delta Rune Mutant Mudds Kirby Star allies and some others I can't remember. I feel it to be sturdy and reliable. I bought the new GC smash controllers when they were 30 bucks and yet my 2004 GC controller still holds up. Just wish they had a wired GC controller with like, mappable home button and capture button and minus button.

tl;dr
New Nintendo Controllers too fragile
GameCube sturdy and has many uses besides smash

If you wanna discuss this further with me go ahead I'm not gonna argue tho

My original ps2 controllers from 2004 are doing fine as ever
