Never played any FF game before ive heard decent things about these but wanted to hear more opinions are these a good intro to series?
Are these games good?

X is, X-2 isn't.
what about any of the other PC versions of final fantasy? Ive heard about XV but thats the only one ive heard anyone talk about
My friend is a huge fucking FF nerd and wanted me to get into them so I started with FFX / X-2. I only ever ended up playing a few hours of it cause I have no attention span but what I did play was really enjoyable.
>I only ever ended up playing a few hours
thats how i feel i might end up being with these games im not really into JRPG's so idk if this would be something i could enjoy
i just looked theres 11 hours of cutscenes in this game? when the hell do i ever play
I never played a final fantasy game before in my life but I really enjoyed FFIX, and I played it like a couple of weeks ago for the first time, I had a very casual approach however, I didn't do most sidequests, just focused on the main story.
X / X-2 is dirt cheap when on sale so you have nothing to lose really. I'll probably go back to it at some point because it really was pretty fun, but I just see gaming as a huge waste of time in general these days. It's no reflection of the game itself, just my mindset.
X is the last really good "classic" style Final Fantasy game before Square started experimenting more with the brand (and I say that as somebody who enjoys XII).
It has a good mix of pre-rendered backgrounds with 3D models, an interesting battle system and it really makes you feel like you've gone on a journey by the time you complete it. If you have any interest in classic Final Fantasy it's the best place to start.
isnt the game like 100's of hours long
I picked up the double HD collection for PS4 but havent ever had the time to really get into it.
Don't be that autistic like me. There's a part where you have to play a match of blitzball, a mini game. If you win you get an item which you can farm in the late game anyway. I kept losing and eventually got bored so I dropped it. Returned years ago and ended up loving it and 100% (vanilla on ps2)
it's only like 40-50 hours long just main story actually
>huge waste of time in general
basically what im trying to do tonight with gaming instead of hw
>interest in classic Final Fantasy
im more interested in the FF story that revolves around lighting and cloud and i thought these games were also part of their stories so i was starting here
that sounds interesting but is the plot just weeb shit or is it good?
I haven't finished it myself, but 10 hours in I'd gotta say i'm hooked
It's mostly fine, but there are some things that are pretty "anime" about it
i just looked at XII this looks pretty good imma gonna try this first then give X a try
Dude, just download a PAL ps2 iso and go for it, the HD remasters aren't worth it.
HD per se no but adds the international version content so late game bosses
That's why I said to get a PAL version; that includes all the extra content. North America got shafted for no reason :(
The HD remake is really bad. Emulate it or even play it on PS2 instead.
Just a reminder that this is all canon:
>Tidus and Yuna go on vacation after Tidus returns in FF X-2
>Tidus and Yuna get into an argument and Tidus kicks a bomb he mistakes for a blitzball and it blows his head off
>His head lands next to Yuna and she faints
>Yuna brings him back from the dead but he isn't the same
>Months go by and now a girl name Chuami shows up and she claims she's Auron's daughter
>She's the biggest cunt in the entire FF series
>Yuna is back being a Christfag which completely erases all character development she got in X-2
>Tidus and Yuna break up because lol reasons
>Sin returns because somebody literally wished for Sin to return (I shit you not)
>Now Yuna has to defeat Sin again once and for all for good this time.. again
I want to fucking cry
XV is comfy, but I wouldn't say it's fun.
Do NOT play FF XV. It's a boring mess
7 > 9 > 6 > 10 > 5 > 4 > 8 > 12 > 3 > 1 > 15 > 13 > 2
Not a bad list but I'll never understand why people like 9 so much.
It was the first FF game I played and made me kind of addicted to the series for a few years.
I think it's one of the best to play first. The is good with a great way of world-building.
The gameplay is easy and quick to get into.
It's worth it for the mod

>I think it's one of the best to play first.
It's the best for non-rpg fans to play first but anyone else should play a 2D game or 7
I was assuming that if OP hasn't played any FF game yet, he can't be that experienced with RPGs
fpbp. I'd go beyond that though and say X2 is a fucking abomination and was really Squares first shameless cash grab which would continue unabated since it worked
okay i already have pcsx2 so ill get an iso
ive played some RPGs before but ive never actually completed and RPG game besides skyrim nothing thats FF style
Will is just a non canon joke Square released while higher than kites on meth and you cannot convince me otherwise
I do recommend playing 7 first then but 10 is okay too. Just get the normal USA iso, the enhanced version is a bit more complicated imo.
As for PCSX2 enable hardware hacks and turn on "alpha" and set skipdraw to 1. It will remove the blur you can see in this webm, makes the game's cutscenes look a lot better.
>I do recommend playing 7 first then
then could i just get the steam version of VII? does it play the same way
PS1 Era so 7, 8 or 9. X was OK but the voice acting isn't so great, and they did away with a true world map.
If you like exploring, stick with those 3.
Yeah I think you have to mod it to fix the music though, only thing I don't like about that version is the shadows which to me look better on PS1. You can just emulate FF7 too, it'd be easier.
I have a question about the steam port of ffx does it use the original save screen? I know the ps4 just uses the system default save screen which fucking sucks
HD port sucks man
