Well that's a deciding factor in which race you want to play, isn't it? Some folks pick race purely for cosmetic reasons, but plenty of others go for racials too. Either way, I'd tell folks to not pick the faction but instead the race they want to play as. If they have friends or a guild that exclusively plays one faction then that just narrows their choices.

What if Blizzard went full schlomo and the next faction is a subrace called DirtHuman and they are darker toned, and have a new city called Dirtroit. It can be be very hostile and several parts of it have rap and hip hop music play. They are rather into sports and usually take free money from stormwind. The reason the HvA conflict continues on unchallenged is the alliance are somewhat hindered and have to constantly give taxes to Dirtroit to keep them afloat. But B.Humans are really great subraces and enhance and strengthen stormwind because blizzard feels like it. Also if you want any drugs on azeroth you could buy them there, but only if you befriend one of the DirtHumans. DirtHumans usually use that money to buy the substances from Tauren races on Kalmidor.

Vanilla was good because it was completely new and unknown to everyone. Everyone knows every inch of the map, BiS and cookie cutter builds for both PVP and PVE, gold farming methods, every single boss encounter and so on. It'll have an active PVP community, but that's about it. The novely wears off fast.

Honestly the only one that competes for me a little is Mulgore. And I still think I would give it to Dun Morogh because as Alliance you'd already have Elwynn for green comfy area, while Dun Morogh provides variety with snowy comfy area. Most Horde starting zones are just various shitholes that are sometimes depressing to even look at.

Also a fucking train connecting them for easier travelling. Fuck, suddenly I'm nostalgic for those areas, I haven't played since Cataclysm and back then I had to join Horde because of my friends.

Private servers are unironically the closest you'll get to an actual classic experience. Classic is not anything like vanilla. You don't even need to eat between fights, or even use potions to survive tough fights. People were auto-attacking things to death in the preview while losing 10% health.
