AoS2 is kind of alive, not as alive as 100% but there's still some active players and online tourneys (with prizes and stream) every month.
But it's hard to find people to play with unless you're on the community discord or have motivated friends

A lot of the characters are downright useless with trash stats and weak attacks while others are complete monsters that can one-hit most others. Buffs are mostly useless with only a small handful of usable ones that won't get you instakilled before you do anything, and some characters get a debuff skill that makes the opponent unable to act for 3 turns with varying chances of success depending on the user.

Online is fun though.

Mira is the combination of 2 soldiers.
One soldier was vegetative and the other insane. Their doctors took the brain of the vegetable and put it into the body of the other. Mira was born out of this.
Out of respect for the other's body, the brain will collectively call their amalgamation "we" but will occasionally slip up and use "I" pronouns.

tournaments are round robin so no matter what, you'll be playing 4 to 6 matches.
Also people playing this game aren't bothered by newbies at all, when I see a new player I'm just happy to see the community grow and if I have to play against them I try to hold back and give them advices.

Iru is so weird to play as. From what i've gathered, killing people with your hyper is generally not a good idea since they don't lose their stars, come back at full HP and you only get a single win, so the best use for it is like a super long-distance shot that you can use to weaken enemies to hopefully 1 or 2hp and then finish off with your passive. Her hyper is probably the coolest looking in the game too.

Every solo games (Suguri, Sora, QP shooting, Xmas, FRB, ...) are, well, solo games. So you just need to play them with your favourite controller or keyboard.

For AoS2 you can take it as a solo game first (with story and arcade) then either know when people play or ask for matches in either discord or Yea Forums

Acceleration of Suguri games are an hybrid between the Suguri/Sora solo games and fighting games, the most active one is the steam version of Acceleration of Suguri 2 but the playerbase is a lot smaller than 100%OJ

At the very least, people on Sora's level can lie around in the wilderness for a ten thousand year coma and still be fine afterwards.

Maybe Sumika synthetises food, or is a good cook herself, with that huge database of her's. Maybe good food is what keeps Suguri sane.
