I'm selling my vive since I can't be bothered with setting it up and pulling my HMD off my face when crouching in games
Beat Saber will make this a garanteed commercial success
I'm waiting for the Vive Cosmos because I wanna be able to pirate games.
>meme saber without mods
lol
You will pay for the Monstercat DLC like a good goy
this and this
Facebook's plan all along. A nice locked down platform to exploit. It'll probably backfire though because the hardware is too weak for VR unless it's simple minigames like OPs example.
There's a fair amount of full PC games getting announced Quest ports already (Superhot VR, Robo Recall, The Climb, and Moss)
Also the guys who made in Death were named as a partnering developer at OC5.
It will be a really cool piece of tech if you keep your expectations for graphics in check, but even on the oculus go or gear VR good devs could do some suprising things with the mobile processor
youtube.com
This processor is 30% faster than the Oculus Go, but also overclocked and cooled so throttling won't be an issue.
My main concern with Quest is that it's gonna be very locked down like PSVR so you won't able to do stuff like VR Mods or piracy
>who needs mods when you can just have official stuff
vive vs oculus is slowly turning into pc vs console, wew
I hope Quest doesn't have any exclusives.
Carmack confirmed that the sideloading process for the oculus quest will be the same as for the Go.
All it required was you going to the developer site and unlocking it for dev mode. It's a hassle but it's an open unchecked process, literally needing nothing more than entering a made up company name and hitting enter, then it's less than 10 minutes to download some things.
The QuakeVR dev already announced that he wants to do a port, anything made with OpenGL is entirely possible
Wait there's a Quake VR port?
its shit just like quake
just play gzdoomvr
How the hell does a 2.5D game like Doom work in VR?
try gzdoomvr and find out
i just want to play a proper mmo in vr. not orbus because it's shit. i want to see wow in vr.
>Only on Mobile VR
dang it
>$400
still too expensive.
But it's an all-in-one product, no PC upgrade required
pcvr requires so little hardware power that if youre a pc gamer chances are you can run vr very easily
What if you only use a laptop?
laptops arent made for gaming no matter how much the manufacturer might claim so, laptops cant have good enough gpus due to heat
So wouldn't the Quest be a good choice if you don't have a gaming PC?
yeah but its a locked up platform like console = no mods. mods are extremely important in vr
>mods are extremely important in vr
Do you mean mods for VR games or VR mods for regular games?
i meant mods for vr games but now that you mention it, vr mods for regular games is also a valid point. i personally play every first person pc game in vr with vorpx
Is Vorpx worth paying £30 or is it better to pirate it?
i never found a torrent for it, as for if its worth the price id say yes if you can handle vr with mouse movement
Is there a compatibility list?
>The only good VR game on Quest
lmao rest in piece big budget headsets.
im sure there is one on their website. the list is fucking huge but due to me being a special snowflake i mostly used it for obscure games not officially supported. pic is a personal setup ive made for myself if you can understand it
What games do you like using it for then?
used for metro exodus, prey and STALKER most recently. im pretty sure STALKER and prey are already officially supported and metro exodus has half-support meaning you gotta deal with vertical mouse movement
Isn't Prey getting VR support anyway for the multiplayer mode?
And the MP mode is fucking dead and shit anyway
i thought so too but apparently the official vr support is only for the multiplayer mode which i never played anyway
He already said that user, a bit weirdly but still.
The pricing was pretty standard for music game DLC. Quit whining.
Also the tracks were very good.
recorded my thicc gf playing it in a bikini, made it worth it
apparently turtle rock studios is working on a quest exlusive rpg game
I just hope the upcoming headsets are easier to get in the UK
wtf does this have to do with the show One Piece? Get this gay shit outta here.
souce
not tripping on cables alone is going to make the Quest better than PC headset imo
Vive already has a wireless addon
so is this just a better oculus rift or is it like a console where you have exclusives and very limited compatibility with random pc content
The latter.
Though the Rift is rumored to be getting a "Rift S" that sounds like the current Rift but with the inside-out tracking and lense/resolution upgrade of the Quest. So you'd have the choice of "tethered headset with PC horsepower" or "wireless portable with portable-tier graphics". I don't know if that's true or the specific details though. Just gotta wait for the remainder of GDC this week and F8 in April.
Are those games all confirmed? Sairento without wires would be nice. Granted, I could just spend the Quest's planned 400bux on the Vive wireless addon and Valve's Knuckles when those are out... damnnit, ideally I'd just have everything, but why the fuck everything gotta cost money?
