last I checked PSO2 is dying in Japan and it's not a MMO either since it lacks a persistent world environment, everything is lobbied to a instance from start to finish. now FFXIV is stealing all of PSO2's deals with yokai watch, monster hunter, nier, etc. hell even PSO2 added a FFXIV boss into their game.

Everyone talks about the return of PSO, but what about a single player Phantasy Star game? Could you imagine how bananas it would be if Sega made Phantast Star V and it was absolute JRPG-kino? Square has set the bar pretty low.
I love Crazy Taxi so much but I don't think there's much they could do with it. The original game is basically perfect for what it is.
Whereas there's tons of directions they could take something like JSR.

Sakura Wars is outright getting a new game, they announced it last year.
Puyo Puyo is still a semi-active franchise. Puyo Puyo-Tetris only came out in 2014, and they just launched a new digital version last year.
Monkey Ball is the most interesting one. Series hasn't had a game since those shitty 3DS/Vita spinoffs back in 2012. Hopefully it's next on their lineup for franchises to retool, ideally it'll be like the first 2 games.

I don't trust Sega with a Skies of Arcadia sequel. I don't see what they can even do with it? Prequel to the game? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless it's through Vyse's dad point of view. Sequel to the game? Would be awkward since the game ended on a happy note with nothing negative unless they pull this "100 years into the future something goes wrong here's a new protag". I just don't see what is there to expand upon in a Skies of Arcadia sequel. At most I'll take a remake or HD port that adds quality of life additions.
Internal politics. Sega of Japan lets Sega of Europe do what they like with PC ports but not console ports. The Valkyria Chronicles console port was a different port to the PC port as SoJ did the prior but SoE did the latter.

There is stuff wrong with the genesis version but it's mostly due to the UI. There is nothing in the game that says what spells do, the shops don't say how strong a weapon or armor is, no quest log for the guild, they could easily touch all that up with a remake. And fix bugs like the lvl 99 thing.

I don't know how much I trust SEGA to make a proper PSO sequel. I'd much prefer just an HD remake with prevention against hacking and glitches.
