A guy did a video segment describing why osrs will never be like it once was, is simply because of the lack of noobs entering the game.
Lets be honest no zoomer or boomer who never played runescape in 07 and before would be willing to give an endless grindfest if aimless clicking a try.
The content progression of osrs is fucking phenomenal though, but the majority of players are midmaxers who sink 100 of hours on a monthly basis into the game.

jagex is pretty much ignoring rs3, they barely receive any content anymore, i only logon to do ports and viswax for some cash for bonds.

Chaotically looked good. Personal favourite was the cls. Was absolute shit compared to the rapier except at Bandos though

RS2 was MeleeScape, OSRS is RangeScape, RS3 is MageScape.
Finally, combat is balanced.

it's not the lack of noobs it's the fact that most players are older which means they're more efficient/competitive when it comes to hiscores, the only players that haven't really changed is the pvp community, they're still the richest players in the game and play for fun above all else.

I didn't do this and had fun hagglong people for dragon weapon prices. I didn't even know this existed.

Well right now you can go and get a brid fight instantly in edge on the pvp world in standard mystic etc without an issue, back in the day you couldn't because there wasn't a designated world for it so it was mostly restricted to clans/friends that wanted to dm.

If we're talking about balance wise i'd probably say osrs and ~2005-2007 are exactly the same except the fact that people didn't tribrid anywhere near as often back then, in fact people didn't even bring dhide tops to brid because everybody was clueless.

Deep wild is a totally different story though, the dps output you had in ~2005-2007 was WAY lower than osrs.

Mind you osrs went from having auto text, to having a trading post sort of thing where players still have to trade stuff to each other in person, to the GE, which was vote by the players.

Is standing at the GE for god knows how many hours a day "playing the game"? They removed something that was fun and encouraged people to be sociable and actually interact with players to an anonymous soulless marketplace. The main reason RS is remembered fondly is because of the social side of things, and MMO's have become a deserted theme park where nobody says anything besides "gz" and "ty" and shit like the GE is why that happens.

I've been playing Runescape on and off since 2002 and I quite like rs3. Maybe I'm just weird. Or maybe it's the rose tinted autists who are just really vocal about it.

Pvp anywhere in the world exists now, just nobody uses 90% of the map because there's no incentive to do so and it wouldn't pass a poll because most of the game are casual fucks that play an hour a week.
