16 years later and still the best snowboarding game ever.

Absolutely. I fire this up on Xbone regularly.

undeniably, yes.

I prefer Tricky.

the extreme sports game boom from the late 90s to the mid 2000's was one of the best times to be playing games

Tricky > 3
Also when it comes to snowboarding games I have a huge nostalgia boner for Cool Boarders 2, I'm sure it doesn't hold up to SSX but I sunk hundreds of hours into it as a young teen. I never had the chance to play 1080 but I heard the N64friends at school saying it was incredible. Shame SSX as a franchise went the way of Burnout.

because you have better taste

I used to jerk off to the canadian chick voiced by Lucy Liu. Elise I think was her name?

>Tricky > 3
Let’s not get crazy here, 3 was undoubtedly better than Tricky in mechanics and customization.

But in terms of atmosphere and vibe, Tricky definitely comes out on top.

SHOW ME WHAT IT'S FOR
MAKE ME UNDERSTAND IT

>play ssx3 as a kid
>fucking master it and On tour
>years pass, steep is free on par
>oh cool I hope it's just as good!
>more stuff to play with but nothing feels right
>maybe ssx3 wasnt as good
>emulate it on PC and make it run decently
>immediately start having fun and head bang to jerk it out
Why does steep lack so much personality

why did developers stop making snowboarding games

Tricky's biggest strength over 3 are it's much more interesting courses

I like Tricky more just because of the Tokyo Megaplex

I prefer the process of seeking an optimal line in the dense tracks of Tricky than the more freeform tracks of 3. I get that 3 was trying to merge the feel of Untracked with the core gameplay but for me it had to be all or nothing, Untracked works because it's such a huge departure from the rest of the tracks, and because Finished Symphony is godlike.

Thats not SSX Tricky

extreme sports became for women

I really liked the 2012 reboot. It was a weird bizzaro world where EA actually listened to fans and the DLC was great as well.

Tricky plays worse

I miss extreme sports games bros

>no more good snowboarding, skating, bmx, motocross, etc games

I like On Tour, there I said it.

>Literally don't know any normal music that isn't from a Burnout, SSX, Wipeout, THPS, Midnight Club, Rollcage, Aggressive Inline or Gran Turismo game
>Music tastes forever stuck between 97 and 04

>ATV Offroad Fury
>SSX Tricky
>THUG
>early Need for Speed/Burnout
>Midnight Club
>all gone like tears in the rain
Well, at least we got Steep.

Correct

What killed 90s extreme and early 00s post extreme aesthetics? Was it the realism meme? Why can't we go back?

who /productplacement/ here?

They have different feels but are both good in their own right

America isn't white enough for it anymore.

Somewhere along the line we went from extreme sports to action movies, just like what happened with the Fast & Furious franchise where they went from thieves who like fast cars to mercenaries who skydive with cars and steal tanks.

>dnL will never come back

You could unlock a pair of hot pants for her but it was one of the most expensive and late-game unlocks along with just a bra top
Same, good times

Anybody ever play the browser version of this online?

>EA actually listened to fans
But the characters and customization was absolute garbage

00’s punks grew up and moved on is what happened.

I recently replayed SSX3 and then started up On Tour. Holy fuck is the framerate unplayably bad. How did they get 3 so right?

how did it end up like this

The early 2000s were a lovable enigma.

I'm just saying in comparison to the usual MO of EA, they were very receptive to what fans complained about.

>Game is announced as an edgy survival reboot and everyone hates it
Changed into a more lighthearted game, but keeps the survival stuff
>"We want to see Eddie come back"
Eddie is the first DLC character
>"I don't like the redesigned characters"
EA releases classic costumes for every veteran
>"This game is still too serious for me"
Mt. Fuji and Mt. Eddie along with songs from Tricky being put in the game
>Next DLC character is a literal who nobody cares about
EA makes the DLC free
>"I'm a poorfag."
EA makes all the DLC free

It was a weird time.
