It's being reworked as a PS5 title in the Decima engine; the game got held up for years and basically had to be scrapped and started over because Wild Sheep ran into huge problems with their own internally developed engine.

I've waited 5 years for this game to come out before I just gave up. Looked fucking good.

Rumors say it hasn't come out because the devs got tapped out on money and resources that was from their own pockets, and had to give up. One person on reddit said the game was almost complete, but the dev got too burnt out or depressed or some shit to finish it. Makes me wonder why they were so reluctant to just start a kickstarter or patreon though. I'm just convinced the game didn't really exist, and was some sort of college project, or the game sucked dick and they decided to silently give up on it.

From what I read the head dev didn't want to croudfund unless he could be totally confident that he could deliver a satisfactory product or the game was more complete, something along those lines, and he received an offer from at least one major publisher for funding but wanted to keep total control of his project.

I read an article less than a year ago someone had contacted the devs and the response was that its not cancelled and its still being worked on but because of financial issues and personal problems development is going very slowly and they don't want to update the dev blog until they have some very big news for followers.
as much as I want it I'm still not holding my breath on it ever coming out

Atomic Heart is real, the 'it's all fake' news stories were all wrong (literally rumors from college student interns) and later officially retracted by the actual sources (after being invited to the studio to play the game themselves) but western journos never bothered. It may wind up delayed and it probably won't be great, but that was always obvious. It is a CG vehicle of a game, a walking sim with first-person-animation based 'melee combat' and totally impactless shooting. Will be worth playing in VR if they do wind up making it available, just to look at all the pretty, otherwise you might as well watch a letsplay.

Never really existed. Concept dreamed up days/weeks before the E3 announcement purely for the sake of being announced as a Sony exclusive. Development (unsurprisingly) ended up going nowhere beyond that, because they never really had any good ideas/plans for it. Some supposed concept art 'leaked' years later and that was all that was ever heard of it.

basically , they ran out of money/will to continue pushing for a timely release and went off to get jobs. Supposedly still in slow development as a passion project, whenever devs find the time. Will probably eventually come out as a tragically dated mediocre experience some time in the next decade.

I don't know why Yea Forums likes Dying Light so much. I thought it was a decent game. The core combat it's fun but it never changes. What you do in the first hour is what you will be doing in the next 19 hours. Its not like Dead Rising where crafting weapons changes gameplay and adds more variety. In Dying Light when you craft all you do is add status effects. Bleed, electricity, fire it's all the same so it gets old fast. You don't get new moves or attacks and gun variety is really low. There are like 1 handgun, 2 rifles and a shotgun.

You can see how trash it was going to be just by looking at the concept art though. Not to mention that the main enemy was going to be scrin instead of nod.
The real disaster was Westwood getting shut down before they could finish their Red Alert Renegade game.
