Is it possible to beat a mainline Neptunia games without grinding for levels? No DLC allowed. I died so many times vs Black Heart in rb1 as well as Noire's route in VII (since their were no healers in the party and I was constantly broke buying potions).

If you can't read Japanese, then you might as well listen to the dub since the English written dialogue is based off of that. It's difficult hearing one thing and reading something completely different, at least for me it is. Having said that, the dub really is awful, or rather the script is. Nep seems pretty different in English compared to what I was hearing in Japanese.

A casual filter. Life Rings work better than buffs here, iirc you don't have any defensive buffs this early in the game.
You get to LV.25 way before bosses have self-healing, you just can't avoid it even, because bosses give EXP.
So no, you don't have to grind.

I'm pretty sure with 0 grinding you can have two rings, and with minimal you can have three so your whole party has it. You might have trouble if you're purposely avoiding encounters though.
Rebirth 1 isn't too bad without grinding. I beat the game on hard while avoiding grinding. The boss that disables items/skills was bullshit but after throwing myself at it enough I got it.
The only boss I had to grind for was the final boss and that's because by default she just one shots your whole party in one hit. At that point though you can use the arena and get overpowered equipment and get boosted pretty quickly at least, but that might not really count.
Also because this is probably the only time I'll ever get to post it, here's a character tier list, which is kinda important because the balance in Rebirth 1 is all over the place.
