got this for free this month

every time I think I understand the rules, and am excited to try the next puzzle, I just get shat on.

anyone else feel really dumb after playing this? I want to beat it without looking anything up, but some of it just feels unnecessarily obtuse.

any tips that won't spoil anything? In particular I'm at the area where it shows what to do with yellow squares. everything made sense until the puzzle that has a single yellow square two spaces above two horizontal yellow squares, and four vertical yellow squares somewhere in the top right.

help anons I want to know that I'm not alone in my apparent stupidity

Add the shapes to make a bigger shape

that worked for the two previous ones, but that just feels impossible for the one I'm on

Post a pic, I recently did a nearly full playthru this week

no one knows what you're talking about, if you want help post a screenshot
the game is really great, and extremely fun, but it's not easy. the whole point is that you're constantly challenged though.

it's this one

Make a bold L (holy shit u were one off
Upside down l

Up to the top, right 2, down to the bottom, right 1, up 4, right 2, up.

Let's keep it to tips not guides

Oh, right.

well thanks I guess
I was on the right path at least

every puzzle element has a tutorial area
you will make it

My experience with this game was:

>do first few puzzles in set
>try next one, fail completely
>stare at it for a while
>look up the solution
>feel guilty
>repeat for 8 hours

game is pretty pointless unless all you want to do is solve line puzzles.

the audio clips and videos hidden in the island hint at some sort of plot but turns out they're nothing but self ingraciated intellectuals jerking off into their own mouths.

what are you talking about? that's just a random screenshot i have saved (first reply)
lmao how the fuck were we one away
when you have a puzzle like this, think about how you're FORCED to use your biggest piece. in this case, you know you need to stretch at least 3 squares to get the single square, and you only have one piece that can do that - then you need to utilize what you have left to get yourself to that piece that you need.
these tetris puzzles are often way more about managing your tools and your space than they seem - that will become apparent in later puzzles where you are dealing with tetris pieces and other mechanics you've seen elsewhere at the same time.

I stopped listening after finding the one on the mountain with the astronaut bitch talking about no borders. thought it was meh, and wouldn't have cared otherwise if it didn't sound like it was ending, only for the bitch to just dramatic pause her way to another way of saying the same thing

Smooth brain spotted
There are philosophers in the bonus puzzles
I meant you guessed his puzzle location very well

Don't start with the lines. Try to visualize a way to arrange the pieces so they can all fit within an appropriate enclosure. Then draw it. Many puzzles become easier when you try to picture the solution based on the puzzle's constraints.

apparently when you assemble all the messages and videos, you get a complete set that just mocks the jerk offs that like this, so it just alienates everyone since the early stuff is self masturbatory and then mocks that crowd

i like it but its fuckin weird

My favorite game of all time

brainlet
brainlet, but owns up to it
you're not a brainlet, you can do this 100% and it will only make you a better person. the witness trains your perceptive brilliance.
if you start getting bored of the game, climb to the top of the mountain and think carefully about what you find there.

I don't think I ever did the ultra-super-secret shit.
Is there a lot more beyond that Hall of the Mountain King puzzle and the elevator ending?

You're in for a treat OP. I have been absolutely loving this game. The further I peel back the layers to its puzzles, the more I understand how it could have taken so long to make, and been delayed so many times.

>you can do this 100%
well I read the solution that guy wrote
but thanks for the encouragement

There's the ending you get from the first area of the game.

Allegedly the water Lillie's in the lake represent found audio clips and the very first first first area has the biggest secret of all with the alternate ending

Sorry, I see a puzzle and I do it.
The Tetris stuff is most people's weakpoint. Maybe go try the tree house area if you get stuck; the way that area teaches is better.

Nah, tetris land is the toughest part besides the endgame stuff. If you made it this far, you're absolutely going to at least finish the main game.

As a Myst veteran, it was somehow disappointing, even though I enjoyed it. Most of the puzzles were easy after you discovered the gimmick (look a the dust reflections, listen to your footsteps, look at the puzzle through this filter, etc) and the logic of a maze puzzle typically just isn't that captivating. My favorite puzzle was the one on top of the mountain with the statues that could only be solved from certain angles, and that was because it felt more 3 dimensional than most of the other puzzles. If only the rest of the game had been that innovative

The extra line segments were fun to find and I listen to the Secret of Psalm 46 at least once a year

>tetris land is the toughest part besides the endgame stuff
well now I don't feel so bad
excited to drain all the shit and see what's down all those stairs now

I always found the treehouses the hardest as they progressed

Because there's no logical solution, you just have to bruteforce

still haven't messed around there yet, all I did was walk around the ground floor and saw a couple of those shadow "puzzles" that light up the monoliths

Not sure if bait
You can literally cut out pieces of paper, draw or use addition and subtraction in the later cases

The puzzles were really well designed and intuitive if you take the time to really think about them.

The hidden messages, however, were fucking pretentious bullshit and don't get me started on the ending. It should have at least tried for a cool plot instead of going up its own ass.

Finding a solution that fits within a given space isn't a logical deduction. You try solutions until you find one that works. Most of the earlier puzzles just have a very small pool of valid options, but the hard ones (like the one where you have to solve 4 separate puzzles together to form a master puzzle) are just pure brute force, and yeah, I cut out pieces for that one

hey I think I'm on this one too
