Lack of time isn't the problem. The issue is that when you get things for free, you don't value it as much as things you worked for. Piracy is akin to welfare in that respect. You instinctively know that what you possess is unearned, and thus, you don't feel good about it. You don't really feel bad about it either. You just feel apathy toward it. Which is a form of depression.

This. I have a 64 GB microsd card with over 30 pirated games on my 3DS and I felt more of a thrill stealing them all than actually playing them.

doing other stuff besides video games certainly helps, but it doesn't solve it, sometimes you are just bored with games and need a break, I love video games and playing them a few hours a day after work or school is still super fun.

I don't really want to game in my cave until I die alone and rot.

Yes, but I feel like I never have time to play anything, so I'm reluctant to play games that are even mildly time consuming. I get home from work at 5, in bed at 9. That leaves 4 hours of free time. By the time I unwind, cook, eat, clean up and do household stuff, I only have like two hours left. That's assuming I have literally nothing else to do that day. It feels as though I've only just begun playing when it's time to go to sleep again.

Weekends are fun though

I find that I can only get into a game when I've actually invested money in it. And despite having a capable PC, I just end up buying games for my PS4 because the physical copy feels comfier.

Are you me? If the PS4 version is identical to PC I'll definitely buy the disc there but if the PC version is uncensored or runs at higher framerates I'll get it there.

Back when I had a job last year I had to work a few 70 hour weeks and I didn't enjoy games any more then than I do now. I think it's just because I've become far more critical of them as I age instead of just turning my brain off

Years ago i use to work 84 hours a week for 2 years. Sometimes I had the energy to play games for about an hour or two. Nowadays I work a solid 40 and barely play. Most games aren't fun and I rather be out doing something productive than become a sheep buying poorly made games like Destiny, Division, Anthem etc
