Obscure ps1 games only (You) played
Obscure ps1 games only (You) played
What genre was this?
I played that on PC though
Fucking peasants
I post this regularly in these threads and never have any feedback.
Did anyone else ever play this?
I’m beginning to believe I’m the only one...
Played it on Saturn.
platformer
devs tried to get into the 3d platformer business by making a prototype with gameplay and went to big devs to use their IP. I can't remember if it was mario or sonic but croc was originally supposed to be that but something happened and then they changed it to croc. It's pretty good and had a sequel. Just not enough space back then for another mario.
Holy shit I had this or some bootlegged PC version of it on one of my elementary school's computers. Thank you based user I've been trying to think of what I was called for years.
The only other one I can't remember now is where you played as a bug or some shit or maybe a lizard from a top down point and click type perspective climbing a tree
>crocs on PC
hory shet
That was my first game on PS1
It was Yoshi, but Nintendo shot them down. Thats why Croc was only on PS1 and Saturn in retaliation.
croc was very popular here in Brazil so it's not that obscure for us.
it was better in every way, as usual.
it remains good in my memories
fucking loved this game
Fuck you, Andy Dick...
here's one zoomers never heard of
How the fuck is Croc obscure
>Obscure ps1 games only (You) played
"Croc: Legend of the Gobbos" is the 29th-best-selling PlayStation video game (3,000,000).
why? it's terrible.
how was croc obscure, nearly everyone i knew with a ps1 at the time had it
Everyone played that though. It wasn't good.
The game initially started development shortly following a successful relationship between Argonaut and Nintendo, with the former creating a processing chip for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System called the Super FX that was used in games such as Star Fox to display 3D polygonal environments. It was first pitched to Nintendo as a prototype for a 3D platform game in which the player controlled Yoshi from Nintendo's Super Mario series, but was ultimately rejected by Nintendo, ending the relationship and prompting Argonaut to retool the game as an original property.
Same. It was fun as fuck
yikes
bet you think this game is terrible as well
>Greatest hits cover
>Obscure
GOTTEEM
never played it.
this game is overrated as shit.
Ah yes, the game people only bought to get the FF7 demo.
Not the last time Square would do that, either.
literally missing out in the pinnacle of the fighting games genre
This
I'm not a fan of fighting games. The last fighting game I played was street fighter for the snes and it was fun only because I was playing with friends.
It was a game with little tanks you control, I dont think its Tiny Tank because you could drive different ones.
You could make them jump and roll side ways.
croc isn't obscure I actually love croc 1 and 2 they have a really comfy artstyle that still holds up imo
third person shooter / survival horror with beat'em up elements
whoa. someone else that played this game besides me. what are the odds of that
WAZOO
played it on PC, though
I wish we got a sequel, you just know Snake impregnated Meryl. Only a fag would say no to that.
Croc is the comfiest platformer
T. Brainlet
Is this any good? I tried to buy this game from a retro store and they accidentally put a DBZ Budokai 3 disc in the case.
I havent touched it in like 20 years now, It was ok
It's shit
It's on PC too
Everyone played that op, the commercial was spammed non stop. Fun fact, Nintendo was considering using the Croc engine for Mario 64, but Shiggy thought it was too stiff. So the company made Croc instead.
we know
Pic related is so rare, not even the fags on Glitchwave have added it yet. I have never met a single other person who know's this game exists.
I fucking love Team Buddies. I only wish they hadn't cencored the US version
youtube.com
croc was originally going to be a yoshi game but nintendo rejected it
same people who made croc also designed the superFX chip and the snes games that used it
Everytime i mention it no one knows about it
Why did the earlier consoles have so many games?
Oh hey, I saw this on the Saturn at a second hand store once. Tempred to get it, decided not to.
Now that's a game I haven't thought about since I was a kid.
I played this and didn't understand what to do. I managed to con my parents into believing the game was broken so they'd take me back to the rental store for another game.
games were simpler and could be made quicker and much cheaper
ANYONE PLAYED THIS??????
CXXXXXXDDDFXDX
A true gem...
My dad loves this game.
It's a cave man simulator made by a company that were weird as fuck. The point is to Worship at the altar of the sun.
I think all of Art-Dinks games are unfortunately a candidate for these threads.
I've heard it was Mario, but maybe I'm just remembering it wrong. Now I'm curious though and will look more into it. Didn't know they made the SFX chip.
I have such nostalgia for this game. Played it last like 7 years ago.
Pretty damn good game, too. The soundtrack had a few bangers.
I played the demo on one of the PS1 demo discs.
>genius (for the time) one button system for commands
>genius (for the time) building commands
>every mission it's best to just ignore all the team shit, build yourself a weapon and fuck up the enemy base before they can do anything
Still want a sequel.
I remember seeing the demo on some demo disc. Was this any good? I remember liking how it looked when i was a kid
Everyone played croc, you even see nostalgia memes about it
10/10 game
Great game had a blast co-oping this with a pal many years ago
Co-oped this with the same pal mentioned above
c'mon m8 what about Chris Kamaras Street Soccer, way more obscure
and pic related is the game only I've played
here
i only know 1 other person who played this
A friend of my dad had an atari and this was his favorite game
Love doing coop with my friend's back them. The spec ops series is weirdly bad and good on PS1/PC.
Wutang Clan ain't nothin to fuck with!
Remake never ever
Man, that game was good. I kept losing to that chess boss right before the final boss, though.
That was made by the team that did Earthworm Jim, right? I'd be surprised if it was that underplayed. It was pretty fun, and I think I got a slight torture fetish thanks to that game.
>Not Wu-Tang Shaolin Style
That game was pretty fucking fun, and way less clunky that the censored game it was based on. Loved spamming the chain with GZA's triangle or do the human bomb with ODB.
wish it got a remaster like another world gets every couple of years
the creator doesn't seem to think so though
Anyone play this gem?
This was good. I randomly received a vhs tape in the mail hyping that game before release.
Traded an nes with like 30 games to Funcoland to buy that trash
Top this
I did. I was disappointed because I was hoping for something like Power Stone.
Yes they have, its featured prominently in Ready Player One
Except AVGN covered the story of the contest it held.
t. Zoomer that played Call Of Duty yesterday and will again soon
Apparently this was a sequel, didn't play the original.
Looks like a croc of shit to me
Carlos!
Anybody who played this game should know it was fun af and the music was banging
oops forgot link
youtu.be
If it's listed on databases like MobyGames it ain't obscure buddy
First game was on a demo disc and was a close to launch title if I remember correctly. So I'm sure a lot of people played the game out of inertia alone. Also the first was better, so you missed out.
I remember seeing the ads for this game and renting it. It just felt like an even worse Primal Rage.
Both had a million and one commercials made for them. I remember Wild 9 being critically panned and it was kind of the reason along with the Earth Worm Jim show being cancelled and Interplay imploding that they never recovered. Which partially explains below:
don't lie, you have not played this game
Didn't the Super Best Friends play this?
Fuuuuck
This game is one of my favorite games of all time. It has a god tier soundtrack and I can still hum the theme song after all these years.
Not sure if this counts as obscure.
It's Twisted Metal but better.
One of my favorite RPGs.
>croc
>obscure
Croc wasn't obscure user, it even got a sequel
Fucking loved this game
nah it’s regarded as one of the best ps1 shmups
Don't expect it to blow you away but it's nice. The game's pretty clunky but it's full of charm. Music is very nice too. I'd say you give it a try if it looks fun to you.
OP said obscure.
I played this
pic related
my basketball american
dropped it at level 54
game was awesome but cant stand playing 50hz and b/w screen because shitty tv
>Martian Gothic
Not gonna lie, I like it way more than the old Resident Evil games.
Aight thanks user. I give it a try. Foxes are cool anyway
tbf what is an obscure ps1 game
just downloaded these on my vita thanks senpai
Croc isn't really that obscure.
This was obscure.
And to that guy, yes I played it too and it sucked.
imdb
rotten tomatoes
You mean the contest for Swordquest, zoomer?
Who else hated that fucking bat?
this? I dont know
My first console game. Say what you want about the gameplay but the graphics were fucking good and the music had so many bangers
nope,I played the superior one
Still disappointed I never beat this
>remember playing a game like this but couldn't really remember anything about it
thank you for reminding me, user
Best game ever
The demos of that one and its sequel for PC were featured in those shitty "Juegos para Chicos" CDs here in Argentina. I loved it.
Had a ton of bootleg ps cds one had Kula world written on it with a shaprie but it was some generic jrpg, but my second tdk pepsiman disc was kula world and my 6 years old shit had so much fun with that game.
If you were anything like me you gave up because you didn't know what to do after the first hour.
I played this throughout my childhood and I just realized a year ago that it's a re-skined Ridge Racer.
brilliant
I still remember really over-hyping myself by reading the overtly detailed instruction manual listing all the bosses and their different personal backstories before I started the game up.
But I don't remember beating a single level, or any of the baddies even having in-game dialogue.
Great soundtrack
Croc is the posterboy for obscure ps1 games, ironically making it not obscure. Ur a basic bitch.
this game was legit awesome.
I believe this inspired Kung-Fu Panda since it's made by Dreamworks.
really nice game
what should in order to make a game like this?
Please somebody tell me they've played this, I love this game and nobody ever talks about it.
I haven't played it, but I've definitely seen this posted on Yea Forums before, in fact I'm pretty sure I almost checked it out at some point because of that.
The fuck did you even try to say
>what should I use/learn in order to make a game like this?*
Fucking dislexia
How many of you, if any, played this?
It's easy as fuck and too short for 4 discs but damn the priest guy is the most evil protagonist and probably /pol/ incarnate.
This had surprisingly good voice acting for the time.
Anyone else?
I used to see it in a cheatbook I had as a kid
>priest says the poor deserve to be poor, takes sides with murderers as long as they're Christian, and dismisses piles of mutilated corpses as heathens who deserved death
>regular dude kills defenseless people and calls the girl a satanic witch
>girl just wants to investigate paranormal activity
My Friends Are Cunts: The Game
i have the disc for this but i never bother playing it
This game is a fucking broken, unpolished mess with way too much backtracking... and it's still the best co-op experience I ever had in my life. Definitely recommended if you have three buddies to tag along.
The current game industry could never.
Interplay was nothing more than localization for HoD.
he thinks it's too much work. As he's still just as indie as he was when he made Another World but now doesn't have the time to put in the amount of effort needed it makes sense.
THE FUNK SOUL BROTHER
I don't think this is too obscure but I sure as shit have never seen a single thread in the 10 years I've been coming here.
Me and my cousin played couldn't get enough of this game when we were kids. Best tactic was to knock the fuck out of the goalie before shooting. Commentators were pretty funny as well from what I remember.
We need to start rounding up and shooting the PR companies in charge of US cover art.
We also played the shit out this game. Co-op was really fun and controls were enough to master when we were 10-11 years old.
I played this game because I had a tips & tricks magazine that had a guide for it in the back, which got me interested in the game itself.
I gotta replay it one of these days. It's not very good, but it's one of those games you play anyways because of the charm.
What was Kamiya's fucking problem?
I played this on PC
I love this game and the first. I like the other PS1 Army Men games too despite how mediocre most of them are.
Wrong They All Spoke Like This
Fuckin incredible
Still better than what we got in Resident Evils and House of the Deads.
This game was a trip.
A bit like Lemmings except isometric, and you're a sheep herder
Its been mentioned a few times in threads like these (once by me), I know I have the disc lying around somewhere..
That's like saying the shit I took yesterday was better than the shit I took last week.
a lot of people played Croc, OP.
I doubt any of you played this one though
I've been trying to remember this game forever. Thank you.
Yeah I could never play them again but Army Men games were a massive part of my childhood.
mk8 and saasrt can suck a load of dicks
I don't hear anyone talk about these games, not sure how obscure they are
This fucking game is the one reason I'm waiting on an Xbox emulator.
i played the fuck out of this game and its the only disc i still have
Guarantee none of you have even seen this
PEDAL TO THE METAL
The xbone will play this
Alundra was Kino af
And still no reply lol
I beat this game last month. I fucking hate it.
>obscure
I bought this just because the cover looked cool. I got stuck in the first couple hours and quit. Never played it again.
This game gave me eyestrain. Never beat the first level. Gameplay was barf inducing.
Wanted to like it for the 90s cheese but I couldn't even get to the meat of the damn thing.
