Party building thread.
When I get to the explorer's guild I need 5 party members with names. Excluding duplicates I will make the party out of the first 5 posts with a class and name. I will leave it up to you guys if you want a farmer post to be skipped. I'll wait on portraits until after the party is put together. We'll figure out their backstories as we go, so save that.
Here's the description for each class:
>Prince/Princess: Support class that can buff either row. Has passive healing tied into their buffing.
>Gladiator: Front line offense that can use swords (cut) or clubs (bash).
>Hoplite: Reduces damage the party receives.
>Buccaneer: Follows up attacks made by the party. Can be used in the front with rapiers or in the back with guns.
>Ninja: Can cut its HP/TP in half to occupy a party slot with a clone. Has a variety of skills such as status, damage and evasion tanking.
>Monk: Healers that cast fist. They have damage skills but they suck.
>Zodiac: Your standard mage that can support the party by reducing their TP costs to 0 for a turn.
>Wilding: Summoner class that can occupy a party slot with a summoned monster that can do damage and status. You don't have complete control over summons. Also has debuffs.
>Arbalist: Attacks with a giant crossbow from the backline. Your standard backline DPS.
>Farmer: Exploration and material gathering class. Pretty annoying to use in a boss fight, but great if you need to get money or evade some annoying tiles in the dungeon.

Gladiator named RapeMaster

Welcome to Armoroad, port city of the south where a legendary labyrinth is said to sleep deep below the sea. Our curiosity piqued, we made our way to the city to discover the secrets laying at the bottom of the ocean.

Attached: 2.png (256x384, 46K)

Our first stop is the Explorer's Guild where we'll recruit explorers into our guild.

Attached: 3.png (256x384, 47K)

We're going to need a Hoplite. Let's call him Cockmong.

I'll lend you my Princess:

>Class: Princess
>Name: Mickaela

Have fun, OP.

Attached: 1550233590174.png (1600x1500, 754K)

Our guild shall be known across the seven seas.

Attached: 4.png (256x384, 33K)

Sunlust

And the guildmaster approves.

Attached: 5.png (256x384, 46K)

Alright, go time. First 5 posts from here. Guys who posted already, re-reply.

Attached: 6.png (256x384, 33K)

OP needs a Prince, the labyrinth is no place for royal women

Attached: 1536835557148.png (720x960, 568K)

Farmer named Shitposter

Wildling
named N'wah

>Princess
>Mickaela
>Blonde princess portrait

Attached: 1534347534343.png (600x800, 744K)

Hoplite
Cockmong

Oh yeah Prince named Duke

Attached: 1550583298462.jpg (700x554, 322K)

Could you be any more faggy?

Sure. He could be you.

Shut up, nigger.

That's 4 by my count. Need one more unless we decide to skip Shitposter.
strawpoll.me/17628978

A cute Arbalest, call her Pepper.

Attached: 1551874872938.png (500x500, 191K)

Arbalist named dickass

Enjoy your virginity, incels

Gladiator. Dante. swords.

Alright, here's our party. Sorry Prince poster, but the Princess post beat yours with a name.
Up first for portraits here's the Wilding.

Attached: 7.png (256x384, 60K)

Fourth.

You're a cool dude.

Attached: 1550167719669.jpg (397x472, 23K)

Alright. Got the Princess, the Hoplite is next.

Attached: 8.png (256x384, 61K)

Gay as shit dude, guess that's my fault for giving you some wiggle room to decide for yourself.

Too many females. Bored.

I laid out the rules in the OP, specifically saying the post needed a name and class.

Then pick male portraits while you have the opportunity.

3rd

Good thing there's no Zodiac.
Next is the Arbalist. Unless the original post had portrait 2 in mind?

Attached: 9.png (256x384, 62K)

Yeah, I say keep 2, since 4 is usually the common choice.

Attached: 1551875659868.png (500x500, 254K)

Well you got the post regardless.

Finally, the Gladiator. (Who will totally be subclassed with Buccaneer for guns.)

Attached: 10.png (256x384, 59K)

>no farmer
Welp, I am out. OP is a faggot

1

>literally 0 votes to keep farmer

Blame everyone else, not OP.

With our party formed I now want you guys to think about how these guys are going to be built while I post more facilities and story stuff.
Here is the skill sim: intothelabyrinth.net/etrianodyssey3/skillsim/index.html
They get 3 points to start with, so consider the early game. Also I've never used a Wilding, so this will be very interesting to me.

Would've rolled with it if you named them anything but Shitposter.

Attached: 11.png (256x384, 43K)

First up is the Aman's Inn where we can restore our HP and TP and save the game. This is our innkeeper Aman.

Attached: 12.png (256x384, 41K)

What a cute girl.

Next is Napier's Firm where we can sell materials gathered from the dungeon and buy new weapons, armor and supplies. The shop is run by Edie who's not so subtle about her intentions.

Attached: 13.png (256x384, 66K)

>

Everyone gets 3 points into combat study. Roll a new party.

The Butterfly Bistro run by Missy is where we'll be getting quests and rewards from.

Attached: 14.png (256x384, 42K)

Gladiator: Three points into sword mastery. Rush cuhrazy blade.

Best girl

This is the port, which I'll go into more detail in a later thread probably. I don't actually know his name, but he's the Portmaster.

Attached: 15.png (256x384, 44K)

What's the party order? Because if Arbalist is staying on the back forever then no reason to go for Front Mortar.

Get Wild Mastery, Dismiss Beast and Call Snake

Sorry but her name is canonically Napier now.

>tfw no EO3U

Attack Order, Guard Order and Royal Veil for starters in Princess, gotta make sure she gives orders to the peasants.

This is Via Senatus where Armoroad's seat of power lies. We'll be getting our story-progression missions from their representative Flowdia.
I'll accept the first one now, which is to map the first floor of the labyrinth.

Attached: 16.png (256x384, 50K)

Godspeed, explorer.

You better paint under doors

Attached: 1521051503086.png (429x800, 49K)

Before we go into the dungeon, let's discuss how we've built our party so far and who gets the starting equipment.
>Dante: 3 points in Sword Mastery
>Mickaela: Attack Order 1, Guard Order 1, Royal Veil 1
>N'wah: Wild Mastery 1, Dismiss Beast 1, Call Snake 1
Our Hoplite and Arbalist need some discussion. Hoplite is a one trick pony, so I don't expect much there. Arbalist we have the option of swapping to the front row to focus on using Front Mortar or we can keep them in the back row for now to be our source of elemental damage for now. We can always rest later.

Next, how do we distribute these funds? I would prefer to use the 500en to get armor for our front line and Dante needs a better sword if I can't rely on him having skills for a little while.

Attached: 17.png (256x384, 59K)

Disgusting

A shield for cockmong and dante

Done. 300en left.

Hoplite: 1 into shield mastery and then max line guard because its almost the only thing hoplites do.
Arbalist: 1 into bolt mastery and 2 into heavy shot because we front mortarin' soon

Best weapons dante and pepper can use.

Done. 140en left.

I say Arbalist should remain on the back for a while until she gets better armor and Hoplite can protect better so she can later abuse Front Mortar. I think Wilding works fine on both rows anyway.

So yeah, focus on Heavy Shot meanwhile, it's cheap and later opens Front Mortar.

Attached: 49076490_p9.png (500x500, 154K)

das boots for everyone

Alright. I'll keep Pepper in the back line for now. I'll switch Mickaela to the back so the front slot is open for the summon.

40en left. That's enough to put gloves on one party member. Who between N'wah, Mickaela and Pepper gets it?

How much did resting cost at the start? 5 En? Mickaela by the way

Buy 2 Medicas instead, just in case

Rest costs 5 levels in EOIII if I remember correctly. If we're smart, we should not need it.

No I meant at the inn for when we get fucked in the ass.

I think he meant the inn, which is 5 x highest level in party.

Yeah 5en. It shouldn't be a problem.

Too late.

That's correct.

Alright our party is geared up and skilled up, so it's finally time to take our first steps into the labyrinth.

Attached: 18.png (256x384, 52K)

Oh yeah, 5 En and it increases 5 extra with each level gained.

The first stratum, Waterfall Woods. Around us is a lush forest filled with waterfalls casting rainbows across the landscape and bright tropical flowers. What possible dangers lie in such a beautiful place?

Attached: 19.png (256x384, 95K)

You are already dead

We'll see.

Attached: 20.png (256x384, 69K)

the lynx giveth...

Attached: Clipboard02.jpg (640x600, 197K)

Alright now for the most difficult discussion we will ever have.
Do I paint under doors and stairs?

Attached: 21.png (256x384, 19K)

NO

Attached: 1478353726938.jpg (600x668, 203K)

You better

Attached: gun.jpg (400x397, 64K)

Paint them yellow.

Speak now or forever hold your peace.

Attached: 22.png (256x384, 65K)

ABSOLUTELY NO

Fuck no. And don't put walls around the doors either, you madman.

Walling off water, however, is acceptable in EO3 given the lacking tile color options.

Alright choice time. First post goes. North, South or East.
No peeking at gamefaqs floormaps.

Attached: 23.png (256x384, 78K)

You paint under those doors and stairs
I don't want no half assed maps with breaks and spaces where they don't belong
You paint under doors and wall around them too, not in front, but across the sides you can't access

Attached: 1549753166768.png (451x415, 149K)

Yes. You pass through them, after all

North

This but unironically
On Switch soon

East

can someone tell me the appeal of drawing a shitty map as you play

North it is. I'm not going to ask at every crossroads because that'll take forever, but I will at every 3 path crossroads.

I know these maps too well to play along
You can't go east until you complete the mission

>Painting under stairs and walling around doors.
I can't even find the words to describe how disgusted I am.

Fuck you. Being able to draw a map and visualize dungeons as I see them is half the fucking appeal of the game.

1st encounter, two fanged fish. We'll see how our party fares. I'll post any new enemies or formations, but will otherwise take my own initiative during encounters. Feel free to make suggestions on the best way you think is to deal with them.

Also I forgot to post the dungeon theme: youtube.com/watch?v=KYELHg_Qv68

Attached: 24.png (256x384, 49K)

Because it's hard to navigate without a map and being able to view the completed map is a reward.

Most floors have unique things to find and each person catalogs them differently.

Small chip damage, but otherwise we're good. The TP costs for N'wah and Mickaela are going to be problems early game.

Attached: 25.png (256x384, 31K)

Whenever I play Strange Journey or something I find it fucking retarded that I have to run into every trap and damage tile just so my map isn't an incomplete mess

>The TP costs for N'wah and Mickaela are going to be problems early game.
Oh yeah you can summon/order like, three times before its over.

You could leave Attack and Defend Order at Lv5 and then focus some points on TP Up.

New enemies: Forest Frog and Deadly Durian.

Attached: 26.png (256x384, 51K)

Focus the durian, always.

It's time.

Attached: 27.png (256x384, 75K)

PAINT

Attached: 1477428009316.png (1041x1259, 440K)

And beyond the door is a clearing with our first chopping point.

Attached: 28.png (256x384, 76K)

>nobody in the party can chop

Attached: 1507241325408.png (522x472, 46K)

>walled around door but didn't paint under
absolute madman

And nobody can use it because we haven't had anyone invest in a chopping skill. We'll have to come back later with some chop investment, a sub party or break the game with a sub farming party. I will leave which up to you guys.

Attached: 29.png (256x384, 71K)

>Walling around the doors.
Imagine being this terrible.

Unfortunately this isn't Nexus, so we don't get a free refresh every dead end.

Attached: 30.png (256x384, 59K)

New enemy: Great Lynx
The moment you've been waiting for.

Attached: 31.png (256x384, 50K)

inb4 the first wipe

Attached: 1529604761976.png (640x475, 165K)

showtime
call snake will probably make him easy

Attached: 1430768890670.png (291x197, 48K)

I gotta ask here, how is Nexus and is it worth checking out?

Hey, I appreciate those refreshes, especially since I play on hard mode.

just joining the thread but i have to say only faggots leave doors unwalled and unpainted

Nope. Dante took the hit like a champ, but I really need to run back for a refresh now since we didn't buy medicas and I have yet to find a chest. Also
>1

Attached: 32.png (256x384, 35K)

based and redpilled

awful for a first game
great if you've played previous games, excellent if you've played all of them
oc dungeons are samey, repetitive, and boring, but the rest of the game is astounding

Worst 3ds EO in my opinion. It has its moments but it's tedious as fuck. Ironically the least tedious parts of the game are the returning dungeons - the "new ones" are a single tileset and gimmick repeated four times, and then they change the music and visuals slightly for two more dungeons. The result is you have 26 floors of exactly the same dungeon.
Also most of the classes feel terrible due to severe nerfs, except for the handful of classes that got overbuffed.

After selling our loot and resting we have 40en. We can buy gloves for Pepper or N'wah, buy 2 medicas or save it.

Attached: 33.png (256x384, 61K)

Is there a path under the door? Are there walls on the side of the door? No? Then it doesn't get walled or painted.

Farmer, Tyrone

I see. My only EO experiences have been 4 and 5, really liked 5 even though people say it's shit so I don't have a great point of reference for something that's supposed to be referencing past games.

you're right, my bad, i forgot when i open the door to the hallway theres no floor under the door and the door is actually just floating there because theres nothing to the side of it

I bet you paint between one-way shortcuts too

Might be worth buying the medicas. Mickaela's going to be mana screwed for quite a while.

>even though people say it's shit
purely memes, 5 is contender for best one
Save it

People don't like 5 because they're fucking babies about sub classing not being in the game.
Sub-classing is a shit system compared to mastery classes.

Went with your suggestion. Don't want to keep running back every time I encounter a lynx. Time to finish the north branch of the map.

Attached: 34.png (256x384, 80K)

I was one of the people shitting on V when it was the newest game but I dislike Nexus even more.

play the untolds and 3, then nexus if you want the full experience

That would've been useful earlier. Oh well.

Attached: 35.png (256x384, 69K)

I can't participate because I'm playing EO3 and don't want spoilers, but cheers for making a good thread.

Thanks.

New formation: two Forest Frogs.

Attached: 36.png (256x384, 45K)

Reminder EO3 was the peak of the series.

Attached: 1532649210318.jpg (1200x712, 234K)

In the secret area we find a chest containing an amrita and a locked chest.

Here's something to discuss: do we go full autism and give our party members backstories?

Attached: 37.png (256x384, 73K)

Shall we take a rest?

Attached: 38.png (256x384, 53K)

Sure, what could possibli go wrong?

I disagree. V is definitely the best Etrian Odyssey.

The party recovered 15hp and then I killed a lynx before it could attack. Shortcut back to the stairs. Make a quick pitstop or keep going?

Attached: 39.png (256x384, 81K)

You can sleep when you're dead, keep going.

Always ALWAYS take a pitstop when you're right next to the exit.
It saves your threads, gives you a chance to heal, and most importantly, let's you save the short cut in case of an accidental party wipe.

Pitstop.

Yes, but not all at once. Let them do some deeds first.

Well we kept going and found a room with treasure. 100en and a medica II.

Attached: 40.png (256x384, 76K)

>Hunt down the centuries old robot shota, or the eldritch monster loli
>No, I will hunt down the equally underage futanari mermaid
Truly a story for the ages

>not 5 farmers
op sucks dick

yeah some people do it wrong. I'm being punished with busywork because some people want to draw their maps incorrectly.

We find a field of flowers while finishing the north branch. Do we take a rest?

Attached: 41.png (256x384, 66K)

do it faggot

You will regret that purchase.

The party recovered 10TP.

At this dead end we hear an animal's cry. Do we investigate?

YES

Did OP got fucked by a lynx yet?

Whoops. Forgot the image.

Alright. We find an animal caught in a trap. Do we release it?

Attached: 43.png (256x384, 58K)

A labyrinth is no place for women period.
Old Male monks only.

Get out.

Yes

We freed it but its parents might be pissed.

Attached: 44.png (256x384, 59K)

RIP.

Well we tried.

Attached: 45.png (256x384, 59K)

New enemies: Great Platypus.

Attached: 46.png (256x384, 47K)

Dante and Pepper got poisoned. Fortunately we had 3 medicas, just enough to pull through even with the poison chip.

Attached: 47.png (256x384, 35K)

You need to get the fuck out of there. Maybe next time you will be wise and make a pitstop.

We would've had to run back anyways even if I stopped back in town. Time to start on the south branch.

Attached: 48.png (256x384, 78K)

All that was in this branch was a chest with a nectar. Time to see what the guard thinks of our cartography.

Attached: 49.png (256x384, 69K)

Job well done with zero casualties so far. We'll go turn in the mission then talk about updating gear and distributing skill points.

Attached: 50.png (256x384, 66K)

bump

Attached: 1550129607559.png (500x500, 129K)

Hey man, early game Nectar are a godsend. Either 100 free gold or a safety net.

This character needs more lewds.

Now we have access to Ariadine Threads and voyages. It's time to update equipment and skills.

We have 3 skill points for each member.
Here's the skill sim again: intothelabyrinth.net/etrianodyssey3/skillsim/index.html
And our current status:
>Dante (Gladiator): Sword Mastery 3
>Cockmong (Hoplite): Shield Mastery 1, Line Guard 2
>N'wah (Wilding): Wild Mastery 1, Dismiss Beast 1, Call Snake 1
>Mickaela (Princess): Attack Order 1, Guard Order 1, Royal Veil 1
>Pepper (Arbalist): Bolt Mastery 1, Heavy Bolt 2

Attached: 51.png (256x384, 59K)

Why the fuck haven't you out at least one point into every resource point skill?

The thread hasn't told me to yet. Tell me who can spare the points right now and I'll do it.

Don't lewd Napier, please. She's a respectable businesswoman.

Maybe keep focusing on Bolt Mastery on Pepper? So we can unlock some AoE elemental damage for later.

Attached: 1551336690867.png (409x1000, 257K)

Every single one of them should at least have 1 point. None of this bullshit faggot "second party" shit. Only losers create more than 5 characters.

That is the patrician choice, along with only adjacent walls for shortcuts.

I need you to be more specific. Do you want me to burn all our skill points right now to get everyone mine/chop/take 1? Or do you want, say, mine 1 on Dante, take 1 on Cockmong and chop 1 on Mickaela? If the former I disagree, but I'll do it if I get no objections. If the latter, who specifically?

I meant the former, since you have 3 points ti burn on everybody. But, I suppose the latter should be fine for now. All I know is that the princess needs at least 1 point in monarch march.

you need aoe for the fish

there's no reason not to make a ninja/farmer for safe stroll mapping and gathering and another ninja for sea quest cheese

I don't know EO3 or its classes but here's my choices
>Dante
Two points into Break and one into Rush.
Cockmong can probably afford take/chop/mine. Tank classes in EO tend to not suffer that much from delaying their primary skills once you have a couple points into them.
>N'Wah
One point wonder into Alertness and then two more points into Wild Mastery
>Mickaela
2 points into Reinforce and one more into Royal Veil
>Pepper
2 more points into Bolt Mastery and one into Strafe

I suggest you read the beginning of the thread to understand how I'm running this. I need suggestions where to put points specifically like this post We're going with this if nobody has objections.

Looks ok for me. Pepper needs all that Bolt Mastery for better skills and Heavy Shot can remain with low TP cost for a bit.

Time for gear. We have 688en.
Here's new equipment we can use:
>Kopis (sword atk+28): 200en
>Tetsukiyari (spear atk+29): 220en
>Scale Jerkin (light armor def+9): 170en
>Light Muffs (gloves def+6): 190en
>Strap Shoes (boots def+4): 90en

Cockmong, N'wah and Mickaela still have daggers. Everyone has the starting boots. Everyone has the default armor. Pepper and N'wah are lacking a 4th piece of equipment.

Attached: 52.png (256x384, 59K)

Cockmong and Mickaela don't really need weapons, so they could appreciate a boost in defenses with some actual armor.

Hoplite and Princess can't use light armor.

Oh, there's still no new heavy armor? Well, Give Dante a new sword at least, buy an Ariadne Thread and three Medica just to be sure.

Done. 328en left. Buy more or save?

If N'wah is attacking on the front row, buy him a spear. We should be fine until the end of the stratum.

With that sorted, here's our first quests. First one's a gather monster materials, while the second is find a location. Second one should be simple enough.

Attached: 53.png (256x384, 35K)

Simple is best. Go for the second quest

Grab them both, let's go exploran!

Ez money.

Attached: 54.png (256x384, 59K)

>Not marking places where events occurred.
Not gonna make it.

In one trip both quests are done. We'll start exploring the rest of the floor then I'll end the thread and start another one tomorrow.

Nobody told me to until now.

Attached: 55.png (256x384, 36K)

And now we can forge at Napier's Firm. This lets us imbue our weapons with extra effects like a damage boost or an ailment chance.

Attached: 56.png (256x384, 64K)

New formation: two Forest Frogs and one Fanged Fish.

Attached: 57.png (256x384, 48K)

New formation: three Deadly Durians.

Attached: 58.png (256x384, 48K)

Well that was quick.

Attached: 59.png (256x384, 72K)

UNSTOPPABLE

We found some yellowish sprouts. They look edible. Do we try some?

Attached: 60.png (256x384, 58K)

What's the worst that could happen?

>Wait a minute. This isn't pizza.

Attached: 61.png (256x384, 59K)

...but it strengthened his resolve! Healed off 10HP. Somehow.

Attached: 62.png (256x384, 59K)

Secret area with two chests containing a bravant and feather armor. That armor is medium armor, so I'll put it on Cockmong.

Whoops.

Attached: 63.png (256x384, 76K)

That's it for the first floor. I'll rest up the party then call it quits for today. I'll make a thread tomorrow and hopefully we can make it to the boss before I have to go again.

Attached: 1453020026893.jpg (2025x814, 1.22M)

Thanks for the thread, OP.
