Do you have a job?

>do you have a job?
>"uh yeah i'm a twitch streamer"
playing video games is not a job and twitch streaming for donations is essentially the same thing as a homeless person begging for change.

You don't have a job and you're begging for money.

Entertainment is a service

>do it for a few years
>save a fortune
>get out

the ones in it as a career are stupid desu

entertainment is though. And theyre the internet equivalent of a dancing monkey.

Entertainment is and people seem to enjoy watching others play video games. It's no different from watching people play basketball or listening to an audiobook

>donations are the same as a salary

Ok

Making video games is making entertainment.

Playing video games is not making entertainment. Playing video games is being entertained.

You can't even meme right.

You can call it a job if you want. Street performers also provide entertainment for optional donations and I guess you could call that a job. But if you haven't made any progress towards retirement when people get tired of watching you and the donations stop coming, then you've wasted your time. Does the average Twitch streamer put money into savings? I'm talking about investments, like a 401k, not a Bank of America savings account that gives you 0.00001% interest.

No I'm not, you are.
>Writing comedy is making entertainment
>Standing on stage and performing comedy is not making entertainment
This is your logic. It fails. You fail. Shut the fuck up you dumb frogposter.

I never thought I would have to defend streamers one day.

1. Most jobs nowadays are bullshit. You think a receptionist is a real job? Secretary? Marketing? Office jobs where you just fill Excel tables?
2. They provide entertainment. People watch them. And they willingly give them money for that entertainment. Sounds like a job to me. How is it any different than being an entertainer on a scene, a comedian?

Again, I never thought I would have to defend streamers one day. Fuck you OP.

There are probably a dozen streamers actually making over 100k, I don't think anyone is mad about it because it's rare.

not even a fan of streamers or twitch in general but you are literally providing entertainment in exchange for money, you are more like a busker than a beggar

You provide entertainment for brainlets in exchange for voluntary payment. You might not call it a real job any more than you call street performing a real job, but it is doing something in exchange for currency. What's more important is that it's something they enjoy doing. Sounds like you're just jealous.

I don't even like streamers because of what they're doing to video games but your arguement is weak, OP.

Its way more than that. tiddy streamers make 100k easily, and theres hundreds of them. You only need a few thousand concurrent viewers to make that much, and if you double dip by posting highlights to youtube you can make revenue there as well.

so did you ask this to someone or are you just another retard more making fictional stories in your retarded head?

I wouldn't know. I'm a trust fund child.

I'd compare it more to a street musician, but that's only slightly better than a talentless beggar.

I'm not him but I think the word "performing" is the key. "Playing video games is not making entertainment" is a true statement. The Twitch streamers who make shitloads of money are not just sitting there playing video games, and the people watching them aren't just there to see gameplay footage. If a streamer is worth watching, it's because of their commentary, interaction with the community, etc., not just the fact that they're playing video games.

Your understanding of this is all fucked up

>Implying donations are the only way streamers make money

>Implying donations aren't just tips at a place you are a paid member of or paid a cover for

Like how far are you retards going to stretch this?

>tfw all the frogposter ms in here are worse than zoomer streamers.

Attached: 2007:v:poster seeing frogposting.gif (480x360, 1.63M)

They're called donations, but they are not in the legal sense.
A donation is a one way transfer of assets. As soon as there is even one dollar as a counterpart, it's called a sale, or a service.
Streamers make it their main activity on a day to day basis to provide entertainment, and people give them money in return FOR that entertainment, so it's clearly a payment for a service. There is no direct "human" relationship between the streamer and its audience (so it's not like when your dad "donates" money to you), and it's clearly not for charity or a cause. It's a way that the consumer of entertainment rewards the provider of said entertainment for the said entertainment.
And so it's a salary.

You can read any legal text (civil law, fiscal law, contractual law), there's no way around it, they're not donations (donations are not taxable kek), they're a salary for a service.

Titty streamers are cam whores with more steps, I don't count them as game streamers.

>twitch streaming for donations is essentially the same thing as a homeless person begging for change.
It's more akin to performance arts like busking, standup comedy and the like.
You are providing entertainment for people willing to pay for it.

A beggar asks your pity, a performer asks your patronage.

what a retarded take. if you're earning enough money to live off it, it's a job. that wont change because some stupid frogposter decides it's not "real" enough for them

>do you have a job?
>"nope."

Attached: 1522281290774.png (680x680, 689K)

No, the twitch stramers who make shitloads of money are more often than not playing a character, or have drummed themselves up with a clearcut personality. People like Disrespect, Greek, Tyler1, Asmongold, Ninja, theyre all playing a character, acting and shit to play up for the crowd. Its how they retain viewership. Most people dont watch streamers for the game anymore, they watch it for the person who has built a cult of personality around themselves.

Unions are for minimum wage cucks like burger flippers or warehouse workers so their corporate overlords can't completely dehumanize them.

Ironic shitposting is still shitposting.

Attached: NPCeption.png (656x500, 112K)

It's akin to working as a waiter. You get your pay from ads, and then you get the bulk of your income from tips.
What's the problem?

Its not
But boomers don't know that. They're still living in the 1980s.
You didn't have a job, therefore you were simply unemployed. And the word "video games" will kill any chances at respect.
If if you avoid using the 'video game' word and just say "entertainer" or something, they'll most certainly dig deeper.
Worse, you may just imply yourself as a cam whore or something.

I'm not demanding that you put your money in a 401k, brainlet. I'm saying you need to invest it somehow. If you just let your cash sit there in a shoebox under your bed, it literally becomes worth less over time. Are you aware of inflation? Good luck retiring before you die if your entire retirement plan is just having some cash laying around. I mean, that's fine if you truly have a shitload of cash, but if you were rich then you would actually know how money works, so I'm assuming that's not the case.

Donations and subscriptions are the same shit. Who is even retarded enough to pay $5 a month for like 4 emoticons. Wtf even is that.

Playing videogames for other people is a disservice, not a service.

You just said "no" and then agreed with me, my dude.

I've paid 10 dollars a month to listen to 3 guys talk into a microphone a couple hours a week, for about 6 years now. Got a nice beer glass out of it, but i genuinely just enjoy the guys. Why can't people just enjoy things and pay for what they enjoy user?

sometimes i talk to myself pretending to be a streamer

Attached: 1528376600379.png (495x433, 19K)

I mean, if people pay you it IS a job. I remember reading a Playboy article from an old magazine about an escort who charged $10,000 a session, and she didn't even have sex or remove her underwear. I'm sure a lot of people out there would say that wasn't a real profession either, but the truth is that she was providing a service others were willing to pay for.

merriam-webster.com/dictionary/salary

>Definition of salary
>: fixed compensation paid regularly for services

Hourly workers in the retail business don't have fixed compensation paid regularly unless they're lucky enough to have the same hours every week. Hours are notoriously unpredictable in that line of work; it's why working retail or fast food sucks ass. You can't earn enough to live unless you have a second job, and having a second job is difficult because your manager changes up your hours all the fucking time.

I don't work the same hours every week -- it varies between 36 and 44 hours, averaging to 40 hours over time -- but I do get the same paycheck every week. They don't dick me out of money for taking advantage of the flexible schedule they offered me. I know exactly what my paycheck will be, every week. It's a fixed amount. That's what a salary is.

>Church incoming doesn't count

DSP is an ugly neckbeard who talks like an autist too.
Like I told you, you've got nothing to lose, you're already at the bottom. The only way you can go is up. Just keep doing it and maybe you'll find a niche that enjoys what you do and it will keep snowballing. Stop thinking "what if" and just do.

Only people that get mad from twitch streamers are copefags.
I would kill to make money from playing video games all day. Unfortunately I'm not good looking or entertaining so that's not an option, I am happy for the people that have made it though.

>my only passions are the extermination of the inferior races
Why aren’t you trying to make the jew or Asian worldwide ethnostate then?

it doesn't matter if you *think* it's a *real* form of entertainment, people are entertained by it, they think it's worth enough to them to pay for it, and the person continues to provide entertainment for money. it's a fucking simple concept, and yeah literally anyone can stream but looking at the millions of people with sub 10 viewers on twitch, you have to work to get there and you have to be good at something, either good at video games or have a good personality or gimmick.

I mean the money I get from the people is enough to pay for what I want and need, so it's a job enough for me.
Panhandling also makes better money than most people make at a "real job", by the way.

I feel like getting rid of 'TV' would make the line scan better

i'm friends with a korean girl who is shy as fuck and only streams her hands... i think she's autistic and has no friends, she will sit there and spill her life story out to 1 viewer about how she has nothing and no one, and how her professors hate her. it's kinda depressing as fuck

"Ever heard of ninja?"
"Oh I see now!"
bam

Not that guy, but to be fair it kinda doesn't. I mean, it doesn't count for NOTHING. But one of the problems is that most companies simply wouldn't look too favorably on that period of time. Think about it, as a video game streamer you make your own hours, play video games and manage donations primarily. Maybe you also edit videos for youtube and stuff. What skill sets have you been cultivating for most companies? Not only that, but you've also been doing your own thing at your own pace for years, not having a boss and not working with any teams of people in your field. Yeah, if you have experience with computers and stuff then someone's always gonna find value in you. But depending on the business that might hinder you more than it helps, especially if you've been doing it for a long while

Why would you spit on your own monitor?

Why don't you wife her?

Good joke. Everyone laughs.

Because you think the majority of male streamers are good looking? You can do better than them. Being entertaining can be learned and trained.
The bigger problem is that you don't actually want to get stuck playing one popular videogames for so much time and making videogames itself your job. It's not as rose and flowers as you think it is. A ton of streamers feel depressed and lonely fast regardless of the money they make
It's better to do actual good business and stream videogames sometimes.

Again, you don't seem to have any idea what you're talking about. Keep going, though. I am sure you enjoy thinking you're smart.

Are you some kind of hillbilly homeschooled by your dad?
It's not fucking 1990 anymore.

Well when you go, make sure to attack a mosque at least.

I did 7 before I moved on to another job, why would you stay for 10 years if you only go lateral or sink?

>Ever heard of Ninja????
>No
B-bam?

t: burger flippers

He didn't say making, he said providing.

>45 year old doesn't know what video games are
>retarded "VIDYA IS FOR NERDS" shit despite vidya being mainstream since 74
>pretending video editing, graphic design, communications skills, internet skills etc don't matter
>pretending modern companies themselves don't stream on twitch

Nigger, congressional hearings are on twitch.

shhh the 90's are the last time user left the house

Funny how those two things you listed are actually the least likely to have unions.

Make a good game next time.

None of what I said was true. Please learn how Yea Forums works.

she must be one of those high class escourts only the one per ciento could afford. I don't even make that much in an entire year (after deductibles, which are now over 50% of my paycheck because 20% of my deductibles is retirement, which I honestly don't think I'll live long enough to retire but dad keeps changing it back whenever I change it to 1%)

>dsp talking shit when he is almost assuredly going to have to sell his house cause he cant keep up with debt anymore

little faggot just cant help but run his mouth

I can't tell if you're being ironic or not, the man's been on every tv screen in the country because of how many fucking ads samsung is running with him. He's also been on a shit ton of news shows, talks shows, he was on the ellen show which is basically middle america white woman oprah.

Post your favorite streamer

Cool virtue signalling thread.

If they want to sit in a chair and press buttons for 10 hours a day for a living then fine. Why do you even care?

>I lied about being a fat retarded loser in a website made for fat retarded losers and it's your fault for believing it

>A ton of streamers feel depressed and lonely fast regardless of the money they make
I remember reading about this. One decently popular ex-streamer was talking about how he started retreating from his RL friends, and that after a while he started realizing he couldn't really actually trust a lot of people on the internet in the same way. Mostly because a lot of people are gonna be trying to get something out of you, even if it's just attention or clicks for their own content. And that most of these people watching you really don't actually care about you deep down, just like you really don't care about them. So it's kind of this weird situation most people ignore.

It is evident you are underage and have no fucking clue what a union is. I'm not in a union, I was merely just stating the fact that your mom should have swallowed.

normies, especially older normies, don't give a fuck about the internet, video games, or twitch. have you ever applied for a normal job? it's like pulling teeth on a good day, without any questionable gaps in your employment.

you act like "communication and internet skills" mean something;" you do know that you're competing with like 3k more qualified than you other applicants? plus the manager is probably incentived to hire a minority or a female to meet a quota, so better hope to god that you're not white or male. i sure hope you have a decent university education with good internship experience too.

I'm not wrong though? I've worked in business for years now and I've read plenty of articles about this kind of thing. It's a real issue for most people who are transitioning from being a streamer to working full-time again in fact, rebuilding your resume.

I trolled you so hard fag. XD

>streaming copyright movies is illegal
>streaming copyright music is illegal
>streaming copyright video games is fine
uhhhh....

Attached: Enable- Secondary.png (225x225, 4K)

you talk like you've never had a job interview.

Sorry you're having a hard time getting a job, user, but you dont have to vent to strangers on a Mongolian basket weaving forum. There's such a thing as "good interviewing skills" and from your post it's evident you are a troglodyte.

Most streamers are sponsored and hace streaming contracts by orgs, ie zero and tempostorm so it is a job them

>And I also have more money than all waggies on this board combined.
Ahhhh what poor people say when they end up getting a little bit of money.

Whats your twitch so i can give you my prime

>it's [their performance]
>no, they're performing a character
gee i wonder what the disconnect is

i dont think either of you have ever interviewed for a job before

I kinda wanna try out streaming/youtube just for the hell of it and see where it goes but what the hell do i make my firdt video? I only have a shitty laptop and headset do i need anything else?

>lol i trol u
Sure you fat cunt, you might fool that retarded cat poster but we both know, you are a fat sad sack of shit, that is mad nobody wanted to watch him spout memes on camera.

Just because you are miserable and don’t make much money doesn’t mean other people have to be as well

Movies are sold to be watched. Streaming lets your viewers watch it.
Music is sold to be heard. Streaming lets your viewers hear it.
Video games are sold to be played. Streaming doesn't let your viewers play it and will in fact entice them into buying it so they can play it.

>things are different
Yes, and?

>all those people ITT not even knowing that the most money comes off subscriptions
not a big fan of streamers, but you guys have no idea what you are complaining about

Attached: project 145.png (970x844, 53K)

I've been extremely successful in my interviews. I applied to a place with zero(0) experience in that field and because I wasn't a fucking dweeb I got the job. Again, stop projecting and work on your people skills. Practice in front of a mirror, do mock interviews. But please stop pretending your problems are everyone's, that's the first step forward.

actually that's right it wasn't even at interview i went in and he just started talking about what i was going to do. been there 3 years now.

its easier to generalize though user, it makes me feel like their the problem, i dont have to improve, im perfect. my tendies supplier said so!

>stop projecting
>proceeds to project

lol i trol u

Based. Look at the zoomers seethe

>streaming for donations is essentially the same thing as a homeless person
>Playing video games is not providing a service
Frogposters actually believe this. I guess you don't think that musicians should be paid money for performances either?

I just wish I was rich Yea Forums. I know people say that money doesn't bring happiness but literally all my problems would be solved with money. What would you do if you were rich?

>do you post on Yea Forums
>"uh yeah I'm a frog poster"

You don't know what projecting means. user, I'm really trying to help you out here. It's clear you're in a rut. I guess you could say Im projecting positivity?

Get a house up north (winter is my favorite season), attract a wife with my money, and make babies while the comfy snow falls. Money would indeed solve everything.

Nothing different, I’d just have some security with bills.

The only unions that still exist in my country are for doctors, teachers and university lecturers.

Buy a cabin near some ski slopes. Grow weed in the basement. Smoke weed, ski and play vidya all day long. Maybe try to find some adventurous free spirit whores from the slopes and bring them to smoke weed with me. I've been blessed with ok looks but as a poor unambitious stoner closing 30 I don't attract women like I used to in high school. If I had a ski lodge that might change.

Attached: ski lodge.jpg (2000x1000, 721K)

Why do people donate to steamers? What's the fucking point? I'm not giving some random faggot my money while he/she struggles to play a game.

Streaming is money laundering. Big name streamers are mostly just vessels to transfer money. Much of the cash that goes to them ends up somewhere else.

If you ever asked yourself why some retard being an unfunny retard is getting so much attention and money on twitch only to realize you and 1,000,000 other streamers can't get more than 7 viewers, well there you go. It has nothing to do with what game they're playing, what their personality is, etc. They're just mafia'd in to be a cashmule between nefarious parties.

I’d say it’s closer to a street performer

Their upbringing normalized the idea that giving money to e-celebs was ok.
I'm old enough to have asked the question "why do people pay a monthly subscription fee for a single grindy video game" but nowadays no-one even acknowledges it as unusual.

esports

>I know people say that money doesn't bring happiness but literally all my problems would be solved with money.
Your problems will be replaced by another inevitable set of problems, eventually. That is why people say it won't bring you happiness.
Personally, I don't know what I'd do if I had too much money. Spend enough to live comfortably somewhere secure, not too far from a city, and save the rest in case shit hits the fan.

Attached: YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.jpg (867x1200, 195K)

>getting paid if you do a task isn't a job
i fucking hate frogposters

Get a high-end PC and that's it. I'm content with my one room flat. Also would give my parents as much money as I could. They have been too supportive their whole life and wasted too much on me. I don't deserve such kindness just because i'm their son.

>comparing "playing music" to "playing videogames"
holy fuck you stupid nigger. Holy god fucking jesus.

If you played music you didn't write, that was copyrighted, and got paid to do it, that would be illegal.

Attached: 1545982687991.jpg (1300x994, 113K)

i have super girlish face without htr meme, should i try it?

Your goal is to make money, not suck baby boomer dick. If the dude can live comfortably off streaming, then more power to him.

Attached: 1552352193873.jpg (481x527, 21K)

Will a frogposter ever make a good thread?

I need to replay this and that fighting game with the blonde kid and green track suit at some point. And swords and sandals..

Do you have any idea how many cover bands make a living out there as small time entertainers in bars, local festivals and bigger parties?

How does that fix the problem of you lacking testosterone?
You should instead eat beans and lift.

Having a fair face will definitely help but you gotta be entertaining too.

>tfw too unfunny and uncharismatic to be a streamer
i envy people who can just play vidya and reap money from it. anyone who hates streamers because it's "not a legitimate source of income" are just upset they are also in my situation. if there's an easy way to play the system and you have the tools to facilitate it then you're a fool to not take advantage of it.

Attached: OTEFITG.png (609x667, 444K)

What service does streamer provide? Oh wait.

They are not streamers. They are marketers.

>most money comes off of subs
that's not true except for the super high echelons of streamers, 10,000+ subs. I have 15 subs, and that equates to about $40 a month. Meanwhile, I get around $100 from bits, and usually $50-$60 in donations. I have many friends who have anywhere from 5-500 subs, and it's much the same story for them. Subs are consistent because it's rare you're gonna lose huge amounts of subs overnight, but you'll rarely ever make more money from subs than other sources. ESPECIALLY if you have twitter/youtube and you do sponsorship shit through them.

You can also supplement those things by just being MLG pro.
Ex: Shroud

You can still make it if you're good

And maybe watch them xiaoxiao fighting animations. That one of the stickman vs the mouse cursor was something else too
That 45 tho

Attached: 1545745720181.png (266x190, 6K)

Entertainment is a service
Watching someone like Faker or Shroud stomp niggers at high-level play is entertaining

>speaking about productivity on Yea Forums of all places
fucking retard I swear

Wrong retard, simply wrong.

Charisma is a skill that you can develop.
Practice speaking, groom yourself and learn social skills.
You've probably invested your stats into useless shit like anime knowledge. Reroll your life build.

>trying to undermine law by being a faggot
No wonder the world seems so gay.

You can perfectly fine make a living by performing other people songs you fucking retard, aslong you don't claim they are yours.
That's what many smalltime musicians and entertainers actually do.

>le if you post on Yea Forums you're not productive memay

reminder that not everyone makes it user. most streamers have some professional gaming career backgrounds and have used that to their advantage. the rest pretty much started when twitch was growing as a platform.

it's a meme for a reason, faggot

Honestly what some speedrunners or that no hit Darksouls dude are doing almost daily for 8-10 hours is worse than any fucking "real" job, I'd rather flip burgers honestly.

I don't know how Otzdarva does it, I check on the guys stream from time to time. He looks mentally stable but keeps autistically playing DS2. It's creepy.

speedrunning requires some level of autism. Not in a negative way just straight up, no one who's mentally fit would be able to tolerate it. MMOs have some semblance of variety even in otherwise repetitive tasks.

TiredHobo

>mad as fuck frogposter that he has to beg to mom and dad to not kick him out the house for being a leech, while people get paid to do what they love
Frogposters are the most pathetic bunch on the planet.

Boomers will be dead in 10 years.

>OH NO NO NO
lmao twitch cucks absolutely DEMOLISHED

>work only 6 months a year during summer in a high class hotel where bitches run around in their pajamas and have fun getting fingered by me after I get them drunk as the night barman that is also the hotel concierge
>spend the remaining 6 playing videogames all day and lazying about having no money problems what so ever

streamers are all below me

Attached: 1552697718488.png (674x1000, 1.02M)

I consider it to be in the same category of job as acting, circus performing or being a rodeo clown

Attached: 1430782117693.png (800x900, 646K)

Less than 1% of all streamers on the entire planet are making millions. The vast majority don't even make enough money to cover their monthly expenses.

LMAO, is this the best you can come up with after a whole thread of getting shat on dumb frog faggot?

Attached: 1540915765125.png (650x650, 43K)

Actually, most money comes from sponsorships, if you have them that is.

>What would you do if you were rich?
Become a landlord so then I can leave my future children something after I'm dead. I would like to have children, but I want to get to a point in my life where they wouldn't have to "work" a day in their life if they so choose to do.

no you dont

Back to the wage cage

Let's say being a Twitch streamer is a job on the sole basis: get money for = job
Now, take into consideration the following:
>you're in the entertainment industry, where the next best thing can switch at a snap of a finger, someone being popular for two years can easily fall into obscurity
>you're not getting paid via a salary, instead it's donations which no one is obligated to provide for you
>there's no point in streaming video games if you're shit at them, mediocre, or a bit above average on a regular basis
>you have no benefits to speak off
>any office job, even a low paying one has you have covered in some area, and a lot of employers don't want to go through the hassle to fire you unless you fuck up extremely badly, simply due to the fact they don't want to go for a needless recruitment process again
>most twitch streamers that earn good money with it are in a small minority of maybe 5% of people from e-"sports" scene that are good at waht they do. Sponsors also come along because they know more people watch them
>Cam whore shit is irrelevent for this because it's donating due to someone's pathetic nature
>0 barrier of entry, meaning there's NOTHING concrete for you
People who legit want to take this thing as a stable source of income should really rethink their life decisions while they still can.
