Think from the end to the beginning. To get a win condition, your only option is to activate both CRAB IS DEFEAT and FLAG IS WIN. Think how you can get to the flag before those are active.

yes, it's a weird inherent rule that isn't clearly defined

player controlled characters (as in "you") can push the letter but inherently they don't block them. so you can use something else to have a letter cover the character that doesn't have push or stop

It's not an inherent rule, it's the same as all the other rules. Text doesn't interact with object that have no definition, so when Keke Is ____ or Wall Is ____ or Leaf Is ____ text will go straight through it

Yes, but baba is you, and baba pushes text into another baba that is stopped by something that is stop, the text will overlap the second baba.

I enjoyed the early game where it’s mostly about word logic and experimenting, but it gets annoying later on when it’s more about shit like setting up three things to happen simultaneously in one move and figuring out how the game decides on “physics” and collision. Overall still a fun game.

It's not a problem with the physics, it's perfectly logical. The "new" mechanic the Prison puzzle introduces is that you can push stuff on top of yourself unless you have STOP in effect. You most likely have seen overlapping tiles in the previous puzzles, but this is the first time you have to intentionally push stuff on top of yourself. There are no invisible rules for baba or whatever object you are controlling. The only important implicit rule is that all TEXT IS PUSH. When one baba pushes a word block on top of another baba in the prison puzzle, there is no logical reason why this shouldn't happen.

over half the levels i've completed have been sporadic "hey what if i did this instead"

I try not to make any moves until I have a solution in mind. I fear that if I fall into the trap of just exhausting options, then I won't commit a mechanic/solution to memory and I'll be fucked when it's expanded on in a later level.

Zachtronic Puzzle Games are just way different from something like Baba, Snakebird, Witness, etc. You don't actually solve puzzles with oftentimes surprising mechanic interactions in them, but just do incredibly sterile process optimization.

The only thing this game has succeeded at is making me feel like a gorilla-brained idiot. I do not like feeling this way and Baba is mean.

They had a game last year? Last one I played was TIS-100. I didn't even know it was the same devs going in, but I realized while playing how reminiscent it was of spacechem. Zachtronic's a unique puzzlegamedev. Baba's more like Crayon Physics Deluxe than Spacechem, though.

Since TIS-100, they've put out SHENZHEN, Opus Magnum, and Exapunks.

The thing about Zachtronic games is that they rarely give you these mindblowing aha moments. They're just programming games that start simple and slowly builds and builds into something more complex and difficult.

Editing is 100% disabled on Switch and there is no sharing because there's nothing ot share.

The level editor on PC is unfinished and has to be enabled by editing the files. There'll be an official release soon so I'm sure the Switch will get it too along with a share feature.

Yes. You need to not think "This does this" such as "Key opens door" and understand what the WORDS mean.
I.E. "Key is Open" and "Door is Shut."

Work from the end to the beginning. What kind of state must the level be in just before you beat it? What is the step just before that, etc. There are usually less degrees of freedom at the end of a puzzle than at the start, so it should be easier.

You can do two the same way you did in Wireless Connection. The third needs a bit more of a direct approach.

It won't let me teleport the rock unless I remove push, but if I remove push then I just get stranded on the other side.

If you mean Turn the Corner, the answer is yes.

All you can do is commit to finishing it yourself, no matter how long it takes. As soon as you find yourself getting frustrated, work on another puzzle or put the game down for a while.
As much as it sucks when a puzzle is making you feel stupid, you won't feel any smarter for looking up the solution. You have to train yourself to be patient. You'll eventually have a breakthrough that'll make the frustration worthwhile, and it getting past that frustration gets easier every time.

ON puzzles are killing me in garden, is there a secret strat to using ON? All I can think of is shit changing into other shit when on a certain tile or some actions only being possible when on certain tiles, which isn’t useful that often.

YOU can PUSH TEXT because TEXT is inherently PUSH.

Otherwise you don't actually affect collisions at all unless the item has STOP, SHUT, PUSH, or PULL.
