Is this dare I say it, the most SOULFUL game in existence?

fuck i miss this series. the music, the atmosphere, i hate getting older.

that song
no, that would be LBP1
best song coming through
All of media molecule's games are soulful. Sony should treat them better and actually market their games
But 2 improved everything 1 did but I also have more memories with 2 so I guess im biased
Their soundtracks for both games were kino though.can't wait for their next game dreams
Man, I remember when I used to make really shitty levels that took me entire afternoons of work. Now I wouldn't have the patience to go through that.
I love 1 and 2 equally but I like 1's arts and crafts style more, 2 still had it but it was more streamlined, 1 was very mechanical with how you could see all the logic bits at work, and I just personally like that a bit more, this only applies to the storymodes though
LBP2 abandoned the homemade arts and craft feeling when they went with sackbots and voice acted NPCs. Some worlds had a weird scifi theme too. It's not bad but it lost something in the transition
I just loved grabbing stuff and swinging around.
LBP2 was one of my absolute favorite games from the past generation. Everything about it was fantastic from start to finish. I had high hopes for 3 but I really couldn't get into it compared to the first two. The more I played it the more I kept finding things I didn't like, such as choppy framerate and some hubs needing to stop and load as you travel them. Also doesn't help all the costumes and content packs I bought from the first two games couldn't transfer over no matter how many times I tried.
Dreams has received a shitload of marketing and it still isnt out, that's on them.
Personally I loved the more sci fi feel that lbp2 it may have abandoned the original feel the game had but it still had that creative innocence feel that both games had rather than feel like generic sci fi crap
>I had high hopes for 3 but I really couldn't get into it compared to the first two
It was handed to a different studio (sumo digital). They're incompetent
All that supposed marketing and still nobody knows the game exists, and those who have heard of it don't know what it actually is. Great marketing Sony
3's biggest downfall was simply that the community had died down a lot, most of the really great creators hadn't even stuck around for 2, and I still think that all the best community levels were made during lbp 1, I think the limited amount of tools allowed for more creativity
Nothing made me more hype than that first trailer
>tfw a platform for games
youtube.com
that one level that was essentially a top-down dark souls.
>had healthbars and hitboxes
>dashes, blocking, 4 different weapons to choose from that made you play differently
>super moves that required you to charge them up
>boss fights and challenging gameplay
>an interesting lore behind it
Was it, dare I say, the best LBP2 level ever created?
Dude I didnt even know the game existed til last month but it does look like it may have just as much SOUL as lbp
youtu.be
So who the fuck was latinplayer anyways?
i just hated the influx of cinematic shit and topdown levels desu.
What level?
What is a top down lvl?
>latinplayer
Who the fuck is that
Damn im out of the loop bad
dumb wojak poster
This is what I'm talking about. Even people who played and loved LBP have NO idea Dreams even exists. The game is not finding its audience and will flop hard if Sony don't change their strategy
also, my level is in that trailer, but I won't say which
I'd say Sony has had more soulful games but otherwise, LBP does indeed have soul.
Shame it's dead.
>latinplayer
An infamous dude who has been shat on by others for copy-pasting the same shark and bomb survival levels.
Media please port 1 and 2 to ps4
I want to play this series again but lbp3 is not the right way to do it
No.
mostly played the first one. fun game but not really the best platformers ever tier.
The first one had more SOUL imo
surely I wasn't the only one who watched these
The true nostalgia experience
youtube.com
List those games then user
I really hope thats not the case I really want dreams to have the magical community that lbp 1 and 2 had but as an adult
Ape Escape, Parappa/Um Jammer Lammy, Jak/Ratchet/Sly, MediEvil, some of their JRPG's, Patapon, Vib Ribbon, Jumping Flash, Gravity Rush as examples.
server shutdown when?
Why is Sackboy derp?
>gravity rush
>soul
I think you're mistaken user
Probably soon.
They already shut down in japan, and karting servers shut down last year everywhere
Dreams beta had a good community but that's probably because most kids/casual fans were filtered out
LBP1 was soulful
LBP2 was even more soulful
LBP3 didn't exist.
>tfw just bought a used PS3 to relive LBP1 and 2 kino story modes
who /comfy/ here
>tfw LBP introduced me to Royksopp and other artists
youtube.com
youtube.com
fuck these were so comfy and informative, also makes me think of the LBP Central levels that the whole website put together in lbp1, good times
>listening to this with your e-gf
>nodding your heads to the beat
>waiting for the instrumental solo
>start spazzing out like retards
I was so happy when they picked one of my levels for the LBPC spotlight thing
The first game had the most soul
youtube.com
*begins to play*
I think people grew up by lbp3, tearaway was kino though
>havinf an e gf
Are you some beta faggt who cant get one irl?
Thanks for the PTSD.
This was like 10 years ago user. I'm 24 now and married
Nah, I hate to say it because of how much of a shit forced meme it is but these games are quite soulless and just feel slow and boring to play
They are neat little creator studios but what the point if the platforming is a snoozefest
>tfw finally acing that level
>that dead space level that was always at the top of the most hearted levels list because it was made right at release
Dreams is promising. People made some cool stuff in the beta, but it was mostly art stuff or very simple games
It's gonna be a while before we see mechanically refined levels, but I hope genre templates added in the early access build will help
This and castle crashers were those games I played briefly at someone else's house and loved but couldn't get myself since I only had nintendo consoles at the time. What are the chances they bring little big planet to pc?
zero
>all those levels that were just theme parks with a bunch of rides in them
they were just eye candy but they were still my favorite
console purge fucking when
>One of those levels where you have to grab onto an object as it speeds through
>Slap your friend off of it
Never hopefully
>Sony
>Soul
LBP only got made because sony funded it. They were a struggling indie studio before that
fuck just remaster lbp 1 or 2 . I didn't like dreams at all
Based. Passion Pit is great
media molecule is unironically one of the most soulful studios
I like dreams
This came out during my college years. You have no idea how great it was to share this experience with three other people in the dorm lounge with everybody switching out and dressing up their Sackthing. Fuck I miss those days.
Unironically this. Media Molecule is one of the best things to happen to Sony and is one of the main reasons I even buy a Playstation these days.
what a good fucking trailer. take me back I don't want to be here
I used to watch this trailer over and over again when it came out
this gives me crippling depression
LBP 1 had the most soul because logic was made with dark matter, dissolving material and cardboard, while 2 introduced those chips.
also the story levels even had visible logic
Why aren't time machines a thing yet.
I want to teleport back in time to the ps3 age. So many games I want to try now but can't because the online for them is dead.
And I want to go back to the start of hs, wake up and not care about homework and just make trash levels all day.
We need a lbp 4
There was a series of levels in LBP1 that I loved, it was called unknown space station or something, it was a kind of dead space series of about 3 or 4 levels with alien insanity monsters taking over some spaceships, absolute kino. The same guy also made a great little snow white themed level and one about looking for a doughnut geyser in some sugar mines.
God I miss that stuff.
Microchips and logic gates were huge for creators though. And dreams takes it even further
acing that level made me feel like anything was possible with practice and dedication.
This game made my childhood and teenage years so sparkly I hate looking back on it because I can't relive them
>They already shut down in japan
what the actual fuck
I should put LBP 3 and play again some old classic community levels before it's too late
I'd say LBP1 had more soul than 2 but all the improvements in the sequel paved the way for better gameplay and a lot more possibilities in creation. 2 is the better game but the first was the one that got me hooked on the series anyway.
Also fuck the rotating wheel in the bunker
>tfw learning how to make every logic gate gate from dis-solvable green shit, black matter, cardboard and pistons
I want to go back.
But being limited was fun creating complex shit with simple logic. Dreams is too much, If I wanted to make a game I'd rather just install Unity or UE4
Dreams is still much more limited and much easier to use than Unity/EU4
its just lbp creation but in an acutal all direction landscape my guy
GOD it feels good to be a zoomer
Is dreams going to have a mascot we can customize like sackboy?
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THE SOOOOUL
you forgot the best song
youtube.com
Yes the imp (basically your cursor) is customisable. It wasn't implemented in the beta though
remember when i brought the first lbp my bro was like why didn't you buy waw you faggot but i was like play it with me for nearly 2 months straight we'd play and make levels.....that was what 7 years ago and i am 25 now and we've never played a game like that again.
shit game
no actual main character means there won't be emo kids with shark teeth in their hair ""dating"" each other anymore and filling the level photos with their garbage.
the game will stay as a content creation platform and not become fucking habbo hotel
My Pod... home...
What the fuck are the comments on that video? Everyone bitching about being 10 when they played it. Damn zoomers having nostalgia for a trash decade especially in gaming.
I guess not having any emo fgts would be nice but I doubt they would even come to this game as they did lbp
I know nothing about dreams but im pretty sure we aren't getting anything close to a pod in it
Why were there so many of these kids? You could literally dress up as a goofball, monstrosity, whatever the fuck you want yet you choose to look like a scene kid.
fuck off faggot. media molecule are great devs
ERP levels are going to be inevitable though, expect shit like "DELTARUNE ROLEPLAYING" once Dreams comes out
I'm gonna make so much fucked up porn in Dreams.
LBP 2 is a better game imo, but LBP 1 has even more soul
But yes... LBP is the most soulful series I have ever played, only thinking about that game makes me cry...
It makes me sad that we will never have something like this ever again and that we will never repeat the experience of playing the game for the first time...
>I know nothing about dreams but im pretty sure we aren't getting anything close to a pod in it
There is a homespace that you'll be able to customise, it was partially implemented in the beta
and that pic was from Dreams. Not part of the main game, just a level one of the molecules made for LBP 10th anniversary
youtube.com
I'm never even talking levels, I mean the players themselves. Like here I am looking like something that crawled out of your nightmares, while the three other players whom enter my pod look like normal human beings.
How?
Sack of shit and the entire artstyle is souless as shit though
seething

>The only Western Vita game worth buying
I don't know how 3 was so rough when Vita felt like a much more natural successor to 2. Tarsier did a good job I suppose.
Not to mention any game with Crystal Castles in it just wins by default.
youtube.com
cope
What about Tearaway?
youtube.com
Forgot comfiest song.
>Forget about Tearaway
I swear I'm going senile
LBP is so special to me, I'm very thankful that I was the age I was when it came out, I don't think there's any other game where creativity is the main aspect and I think having it as my childhood game did a lot of good for me.
>MM dropped this to outsource LBP3 to some shitty company while working on a massive blunder that was Tearaway
>then proceeded to work on such a project failure that the entire game was made around the Sony Dildo sticks but they failed so hard that the sticks went out of market before the game was even released
Has there been any company so fucked? They had everything and lost everything.
Never played Vita, when did 1991 play in that game?
You can play dreams fine without the move dildos, and they're having a resurgence now anyway (thanks to PSVR)
Seethe more
I have high hopes for Dreams that I think will be met but yeah they should have done 3 themselves, or just not done it at all.
It wasn't their choice for LBP3 to be made. Sony owns the IP and can do whatever they want with it
It's for one of the bonus levels, which weirdly did a lot with system orientation, etc. so there were quite a few vertical ones like this.
youtube.com
Just like you can play FPS games fine on a gamepad. Does't mean it doesn't actually suck.
well then Sony shouldn't have frothed at the gash for another cash injection at the expense of a memorable IP like they always do
PS4 has gyro too. It's almost the same experience as using moves
A-are moves THAT bad?
They're better for sculpting (because 3D inputs) but worse for 2D stuff like logic and music creation
Fuck off Ari
Great news user. In heaven we all have our own "god space" which contains the entire Earth and it's entire history so you can experience or manipulate anything you want of the Earth's history at any point.
Everything is sluggish in this game. Hated it.
>All of media molecule's games are soulful. Sony should treat them better
>has been funding dreams and it's development hell for about a fucking decade
Media Molecules should be thanking god that Microsoft and Nintendo rejected them. Dreams would've got forced out the door unfinished or completely fucking axed a long fucking time ago if they were with anyone but Sony.
LBP is still making mad cash on cosmetic DLCs. probably the only reason basedny hasn't axed it
