uncompressing uses a shitload of GPU power because umcompressing is a mostly GPU task instead of CPU task.
think of it like this
the CPU is a small room with VERY smart people solving hundreds of very hard equations per minute
the GPU is a massive factory with shitloads of children solving very simple expressions per minute
Uncompressing works by havong the GPU calculate where the compressed data will stand on the computer's memory and how it will be organized, which is relatively simple but still takes time

i an autistic about monitoring my cpu and ram usage across various games, i've used probably 6 fitgirl packs and not a single problem, just don't try to play anything while it's installing cause the unpacker is a beast and uses like 100% of everything, which is why people prob think it's a miner. and look, if the goal is to get 20 minutes of mining out of me while i install and that's it, then i don't really care, but i don't think that's what's happening

There's no miner. Every other repacker that has hidden a miner in their releases gets caught quickly since there's a new service running that generally looks suspicious.
It is possible that the miner runs only while you're in the game, but that's a difficult thing to do, especially for a repacker who probably doesn't have a very good understanding of programming.
