Movement in Halo games is slow as molasses, weapon diversity and control is extremely narrow, rocket splash is so huge you only need to lead on vehicles, and the crosshair magnetism is way too heavy-handed and not in-line with advances in manual gamepad aiming since 2001. Things like the BR and removal of health packs took the game backwards after CE, and yet the fans still argue for a Halo 3 clone.
The thing is, Halo isn't just slow compared to arena FPS; it's slow compared to other console shooters. Everything from the movement speeds, to the physics, to the ultra-heavy crosshair magnetism, is all a relic of a by-gone era where no one knew how to make FPS control smoothly on gamepads. By the 360 era, things improved enough to support the much faster gameplay of later COD games, BF series, UT3, even some Quake 4 console tournaments in France, etc.
So yeah, you can call Halo whatever you want, whether it's "tactical arena FPS" or whatever, but it's really its own thing which bears limited appeal either to PC arena FPS players or even people used to the later console military shooters.
Which is why I have a hard time believing that Halo on PC will result in any sort of success or long-term interest.

Yeah. Nothing is set in stone in terms of what is happening, just that they are "revealing more info" about MCC. Some leakers claim its getting released in the form of a beta or a fully working build ready for sale. I guess we'll find out in a few hours.
People are recommending BR and Battlefield kinds of gameplay in Halo, but I really think people don't want this shit. A lot of games are falling for the BR meme and utterly fail.
However I wouldn't mind large war battles in Single Player.
You get currency from everything. Multiplayer, Campaign, and Firefight. I think Forge too, but Multiplayer gives the most points rewarded for kills and finishing games.
However on the MCC on consoles they gave every armor available in 4, I don't know about 3. So who knows. I don't think they would release everything, especially with the credit system. It takes away all the reward. If they don't fuck with the system, double exp should definitely be added because it takes goddamn forever to rank up.

I'm on the fence. On one side, you get everything instantly. Whatever you want your Spartan to look like. Which is cool.
But on the other side, there's no prestige to the more difficult unlocks if everyone gets them and it loses its cool factor.
Either way I'm a bit happy and disappointed.

We all played 1-3, ODST and Reach. This isn't anything new.

We haven't paid attention to Halo or anything surrounding it in a decade, (even Bungie or the community, since Destiny didn't release on PC). We all moved on thinking this day would never come. 343i Halo was never the same, so we left Halo behind. Before projects like Eldewrito, hope didn't exist; any Halo game past H2 had only lived in our heads through rose-tinted glasses. We had mastered Halo: Combat Evolved though. You could say the definitive Halo 1 experience has always been on PC despite a couple of missing graphical effects. Nowadays this is arguably the case for Halo 2 PC (cartographer) as well. Hell, a lot of us we're always playing Halo PC with xfire on the side even with the releases of 2, 3, ODST and Reach. Yea Forums even hosted Halo PC game nights every now and then. PC was definitely a home for another, unexpored side of Halo, whereas Halo on Xbox was a home away from home.
But now we've come full circle. We're actually going HOME this time for real. For us, home is where Halo is, and Halo is now on PC--the platform we went back to 10 years ago after Halo died) Once you're on PC, you are immortalized. When you're on console, you're contemporary.
We're not going after Halo anymore, Halo has come to us. We don't have to go home. Home came back and it's here to stay.

Microsoft has been testing running literal Xbox versions of games on Windows 10. The next "gen" is rumoured to have full BC and come out with two different models out the game, a high end and low end. Spencer years ago said he wanted to get on the "cellphone" model where there was a new Xbox every few years. But it wasn't a necessary upgrade, and players could basically just upgrade whenever they felt it was best, rather than waiting a whole generation if they wanted to be bleeding edge.

This is one game release user, something that is partly marketing to the Microsoft games store exclusive next halo game, partly just a fan service, and largely an optics thing. They aren't going full steam. But even Phil fully admits steam is better than their present store. And I think the goal here is exposure and good graces. It also shuts up a lot of the conspiracy theorists who think they are planning on blocking steam and other nonsense. I think they see steam for them, sort of the way EA sees GoG. Not so much a threat or competition, but a side deal. Once gamepass is fully on PC, I think they will be a decent player on their own OS again.
