What does Yea Forums think of Max Payne 3?

They're all great for different reasons. I felt Max was a bit overpowered in 2, especially the bullet time. But it made for some really fun times

Game's okay first time around but once you're on your second playthrough you realise how little gameplay there actually is. I don't understand how Rockstar could take a noir style game where the story is told through the gameplay + short comics into a literal movie.

3 is my favorite TPS from last gen. 3 perfected the gameplay and made me feel like chow yun fat.

I loved how cool your movements in 1 looked in slow mo but in 2 you just move fast most of the time. I keep thinking of the line in 1, "time slowing down to show off my moves" but the only move that actually plays in slow mo and gets showed off in 2 is that retarded reload.

Maybe that's nostalgia goggles, but the game has aged very gracefully, for being a 16 y/o title. Both visually and mechanically.

Loved it, even its cheesy mid 2000s man on fire vibe resonated with me. That with sam's voice acting and the amazing gameplay makes it one of my fav 3rd person shooters.

Really hope rockstar makes another game with max payne 3's gunplay. I dont want a new max payne per say just a game with bullettime and the gunplay

No it just aged wonderfully, both the original MP games did. I didnt play them for the first time until 2015 and they were fantastic experiences then and now 2 is one of my favorite games ever

I can confirm this, first time I played 1 and 2 was back in 2011 after 3 got it's first trailer and caught my interest. Now they are both some of my most replayed games, I've lost count of how many times I've beaten them, same with 3.

The only downside of the first one (aside from ugly ass character models, arguably part of the charm) is that enemies tank bullets and like to ambush you

The only problem with the original is that its first difficulty level is adaptive. The higher difficulty levels don't have that shitty feature and have less "wtf that guy should've died" moments.

Mechanically one of the most fun shooters I've ever played, completly fucked by the unskippeable cutscenes.
The last good game Rockstar made

Multiplayer was fun as shit, shame it's dead now.

I thought it was great. This game feels to me both like it's still part of the Max Payne series but at the same time it's different in many ways.

IMO one of the best-feeling third person shooters of all time.

Story-wise I get why people don't like it, it's a real departure from the writing of Max Payne 1 and 2, but somehow, it's just so memorable in its own way. It might be my favorite thing Rockstar has written.

Story is a wreck. Why does Max forgive the guy for blowing blondie's brains out? How did he forget about the boat massacre and shootout?

This. He treated the guy who fucked hookers in the brothel worse than he did the actual murderer.

I actually love all Max Payne games, but I think MP3 is the most replayable even with its cutscenes simply because the shooting is so good, I loved MP2 back then, but looking back at it, enemies flying all around the fucking place if you dual wield anything and use bullet time is just too "cartoonish" somehow, I prefer the weight the combat has in MP3

Max spared Serrano because Serrano had just been horribly medically tortured for god-knows how long and he genuinely didn't think killing him would be a worse fate than leaving him alive.

Earlier he doesn't even really think about killing the mob boss for the same reasons, that with his son dead his life would be an eternal hell, etc.

The brothel pervert he doesn't really do anything to. You CAN shoot him later, but mostly Max just leaves him to his business there and in the prison. He's also blatantly a sleazy creepy pedophile which we're all wired to loathe and Max had a daughter once, so it makes sense at least to me that he would find him particularly contemptible.

It's also possible Serrano died in the building implosion later, mind.

That wasn't said nor implied. You had quite a but of time between the doctor interaction and you actually blowing the building up.

Maybe he can sympathize with killers but not to pedophiles or some weird vague thing.

I honestly think this is true for most people. There's almost a romance people have for killers, no such thing with diddlers. Pure visceral disgust.

I like the game but i can't stand the sensitivity on mouse. 2 is too high and 1 is too low and there's no way to go inbetween

Use DPI settings on your mouse user.

i think even the braindead people that get offended by feathers on video game characters would understand that max was only fighting back since they started shooting first

It's a good game. Even with the constant cutscenes and very annoying problem with ati drivers I had back then where I had to reinstall drivers everytime I wanted to launch the game, I still managed to enjoy it. Will probably never replay though.

Get up to speed gramps. There's a mod to skip cutscenes now.

Although it does reduce the game time ridiculously. It's only like a 5 hour shooter when you skip everything but that's unironically a good thing. Action shooters shouldn't be longer than that.
