Why is Overwatch so frustrating to play?
I don't get this level of helplessness from other competitive games like CS:GO and Siege and even Dota.
Why is Overwatch so frustrating to play?
Because Overwatch is literally just based around broken ultimates.
It wasn't meant to be played for more than a thousand hours. No game is, unless you're an autist.
This only happens in OW because its horribly designed dogshit forced 6v6 ultimate trading chokepoint simulator
Because ow is a piece of shit.
>playing overwatch
just as bad as playing WoW
It's terrible competitively but I still enjoy it casually.
Individual characters have no skill ceiling and no strategy. Your performance, at any given time, is 90% based on how well your teammates are willing to cooperate. The remaining 10% is basic FPS competencies like aiming.
You're not an autonomous, self-sufficient player, you're a lone unit in a strategy game. You can't do jack shit on your own.
classic was shit
you classic niggers didn't even play it when it was live, BC is the best expansion
OW has a punishment algorithm where you get put in a terrible team for 5 games in a row if you're in teams that are too good
Stunlock abilities, it taking waaaay to long to get back to the action after you die, teams getting held up and chokepoints until they lose or they burst through for a sudden win.
They basically designed the game because they wanted it to be exciting from a competitive point of view, but it doesn't really work that way when nobody does any of the shit they planned for competitive play on a casual level. They WANT players to make good team composition choices and work together, but rarely does it turn out that way.
That said, it can still be a pretty good time waster, best when you have a friend to play with. Arcade modes are better than Quickplay too.
In team-based shooters, abilties need to be thought of not just in how the ayer utilizes them, but how the team utilizes them. In a simple shooter with no 'skills' or ultimates, this is largely irrelevant, but it can still be seen in a game like CS with grenades; you dont really need to count which player has which ones, the total number of each type across the entire team is what matters.
Where this hurts a game like overwatch is that, at a fundamental level, it matters less that you have an ult, and more that your team has 3/6 ults to enemy team 2/6 ults. With so many of them going around, "ultimate" abilities becomes a simple numbers game. And with powerful ults that can completely turn the tides of battle and invalidate multiple units for their duration, when ults matter, little else does.
It's far too team based and unless you have a team of six you can count on you're fucked. My original account can't get out of high gold-low plat but I managed to replace in high masters on an alt. On average players at master's are indistinguishable from lower ranked players at an individual level.
Play Paladins.
It has way better waifus.
because
>game is based on cooldowns, if you use all your abilities, you are basically fucked
>game is basically rock paper scissors in terms on 1v1
>infinite ammo, because of this the winning team who has the point already doesn't fuck off ever, while the losing team is forced to constantly respawn and walk all the way to the point in hopes to retake it. And because of infinite ammo theres to cover mechanics like in other FPS where you hide to reload
>game is way too focused on teamwork, taking solo routes usually results in suicide, in other fps you can basically solo the other team if you are good enough, but since this game is based on cooldowns, there is no mechanical skill involved thus the low skill ceiling
>stun
>zarya's shieldball having no level indicator so you just unconsciously avoid shooting it
>there's always some dicksucker playing reaper
>genji
>hanzo
>most heroes nerfed into uselessness while some already irritating hero gets buffed
what overwatch needs is more stun + shield characters, preferably one that can silently teleport behind you and press q to instantly kill everyone
Characters are annoying
We also need a character that has a stun ability, shoots stun bullets, and stun ultimate.
Being team play oriente game, where you depend on your team mates that are in 51% case of forced 50/50 matchmaking complete imbeciles.
The "kills" do not matter, victory condition does - it is fun with friends. Its horror with randoms.
They strip mechanical skill from the equation, so you feel hopeless to the power of timing and synchronizing of one button abilities. Most matches are already won or loss before they are even fought since ults are so important
It's a team game with very little solo carry potential.
Most heroes have an 'I pressed this button and you lost' ABILITY ON COOLDOWN. This isn't even addressing 'I win' ultimates.
I think the biggest issue that most people don't notice or purposefully choose to ignore is that the map design is literally the worst in a major multiplayer game. Call of Duty probably has better maps. Chokepointy, awful trash.
Shit community and shit balancing
Wait until Gearbox fixes Battleborn. It's so sad that Battleborn died. It was fun, but there was no goal like GM or top 500 in Overwatch. I really hope Gearbox doesn't drop Battleborn.
Blizzard fucked up and Gearbox should really capitalize on Blizzards fuck ups
>wait until gearbox fixes battleborn
I want to marry D.va
Because teamwork matters more over individual skill. Now throw randoms in the mix and see what happens.
>Most heroes have an 'I pressed this button and you lost' ABILITY ON COOLDOWN.
>Because teamwork matters more over individual skill.
Completely this. Player skill gets hard countered by groups of enemies just using their abilities together, not even ults. If a D.va is blocking damage and a soldier is shooting at you while a Mercy heals them you're just not going to win.
Shit makes the game incredibly frustrating as you're hyper reliant on your team to accomplish anything.
should I fap to mercy?
