Big Boss was the better protagonist but Solid Snake is equally as cool
I like the part in MGS2 where he says "And yes, this is my real hair."
I lolled
As much as I liked MGS3, Naked Snake was a terribly boring guy motivated entirely by melodrama.
Overall Solid was better but Snake in MGS3 was the best
Big Boss for a single game, Solid Snake for the series.
Naked Snake was pretty amazing in 3 but it's a character that was only interesting because he was pure and the idea of "Is THIS the future antagonist of Metal Gear?" it makes you interested in how he went from point A and point B, the premise itself is good but keeping the finer details hidden behind the curtain is sometimes more impactful that telling the entire story of the most important character in Metal Gear's story.
Some things are better left a mystery, much like how the Cobra Units had weird powers but it ended up becoming parasites, how the patriots ended up being the goofy team from MGS3. Many of these should have been left to the imagination, the problem with Kojima is that he tries to explain everything and it takes away the magic.
Solid Snake was handled much better, I prefer Naked Snake in the single game but his "evolution" to becoming the antagonist was awful.
Big Boss is more interesting, but Solid Snake is a far better person
>implying Solidus wasn't better
He was a true patriot
bump
Were Big boss and Solid Snake not basically the same character? They seemed very similar in how they acted with people
>BIg boss had mercenaries at disposall
>Solid snake had infinite ammo bandana
i think big boss was more based
Love it. And pic related is still my favorite game of all time, it's so perfect bros I just want to cry.
The consensus is that every MGS thread goes to shit immediately and no one can civilly disagree about anything. Personally, I like Solid best and think 1 and 3 are pretty evenly tied for best game. 2 is incredible for the writing and everything from Arsenal Gear onward, but imo Big Shell just isn't any fun, Dead Cell is utter dogshit, 2's characters and bosses are mostly a step down in general. But I actually like the katana controls and love the Solidus fight so clearly my opinion is worthless.
Loved the series overall but I hate the fact that Kojima and Konami weren't on the same page as far as MGSV is concerned. It could've truly been a masterpiece.
Also mad we'll never get a SNAKE EATER remake.
Solid Snake is the better character and I hate how basically Big Boss hijacked the series. I only like the plot twist from MGSV because it means that game wasn't another game with Big Boss as the protag again.
>faithfully remake models
>waste them on pachislot garbage
WHYYYYYYYY
Lel
I liked these videos. These days I really love solidus's dialogue at the end, along with raiden and snake. They really do give me some happiness and hope, the AI is too bone chilling right now man. I find myself agreeing with them more often than not. It's a weird feeling.
Why did they change the voice actor? They change takes me completely out of the MGS experience
Hayter and Kojima didn't get along for some reason.
How come they had Snake go for soulless, ginger rookie Meryl and get rejected over for joke of the entire series Johnny instead of having Snake get with Naomi? She was much more interesting, attractive, and her codec conversations with Snake were much more intimate. The circumstances would have made their relationship intriguing.
>letting personal enmity get in the way of work
Why is Kojima such a woman?
Just went a different direction with V. To be fair, Big Boss is different VA in 4 too. Keifer wasn't bad at all in that part.
I feel ya. Egos get outta hand and work gets lost between personal in-fighting. Remember also when MGS V was released and Konami Japan removed Kojima's name from promo material and box cover art. Adults being pedantic...sad
MGS1 + 2 constitute the best videogame experience in existence
afterwards its a steady decline
maybe 5 > 4 but both are meh
What the fuck was her problem? I don't remember much of 4's storyline beside a few key scenes and the end but why was she a traitor again?
>MGS1 + 2 constitute the best videogame experience in existence
kino opinion
Ignorance. She was nice
Scenes that gave you feels throughout the series? For me:
Gray Fox getting smashed. He had a small part but I really liked the character
Pleb ending by giving up during torture scene and Meryl is killed...feels
Vamp vs Raiden fight scenes..dem flips and chest stomp
Old man Snake fistfight with Ocelot while the bgm changes...great
Fortune's death and Emma's death...feels bad man
Any scene between Snake and Dr. Naomi. Also any scene between Otacon and Emma
Also forgot to add that but in V when you relize your interactions with Paz were just in your head and she died long before. PLAYED US LIKE A DAMN FIDDLE...guess it doesn't matter much in thr grand scheme of things since Venom wasn't the Boss anyway.
Because she was addicted to Vamp's BRC Big Romanian Cock
>Metal Gear (Solid) series?
MG2, Ghost Babel, and MGS2 are my favorites. I like most games in the series, though. The only ones I don't like much at all are Portable Ops and MGS4. And Snake's Revenge -- can't forget that one.
>he tries to explain everything
To be fair he only did that because there was a lot of fan demand for him to do so. That doesn't excuse the shitty way he did explain everything, but it's not like he had it in mind originally.
>waste them on pachislot garbage
I don't think you realize how common flashy Pachislot machines are, or how long it's been a thing. It's like none of you remember "EROTIC VIOLENCE." Video game Pachislots aren't anything new; there are a lot of similar anime/other licensed ones too.
Besides, a remake is a shitty idea.
>Scenes that gave you feels throughout the series?
>Besides, a remake is a shitty idea.
How, Sway? Snake Eater is arguably the second best game out the whole bunch. With a remake they could fix the cameras subsistence style completely, enhance the enviromments in the jungle and other outdoor/cave sections and Konami would regain the trust of many who were salty about the Kojima split, plus make money hand over fist at the same time. They own the Fox engine and have the assets laid out but they're like nah...we're good.
Did Snake fuck Otacon's sister?
only mgs2 raiden though
What? No...she was barely even 18 wasnt she?
>Snake Eater is arguably the second best game out the whole bunch.
If you think that, why does it need a remake? Admittedly Snake Eater's concept and environments would lend better to modern AAA demands than earlier Metal Gear games, but I don't really see the point in it. I'd rather have a new Metal Gear game, preferably one in a new continuity with new characters so we can finally let this clusterfuck of a story end.
How was she only 18 and working a huge defense industry job
She was quite smart and even morr dedicated to her studies at Oxford when she left home.
>let the story end
everything is explained and mgsv put the nail in the coffin
Peace Walker was good.
Peace Walker was shit. Both the gameplay and cutscene style.
I suppose it's okay as a portable title but playing it as a real game is a pain.
Anyone play MGS Acid? I couldn't get into the turn based shit at first but then I got a hang of it. Eventually I dropped it for Portable OPS and Portable OPS+
I'd literally tranq everyone in that room just to be able to survive long enough to defuse the bomb.
Reminds of the classic MGS3 videos.
I'm trying to remember a channel that had those old secret theater mode cutscenes from Snake Eater Subsistence disc2. There were some hilarious edits featuring Ocelot and Snake on the chopper at the end.
A new game will never realistically come out. Besides, V closed the loop albeit sloppily so...the best we could hope for is a remake of a solid game. Why are you so against it?
fuck yes
Top 10 anome crossovers
tell me your anus didnt clench up when he tore those shits off and he starts zooming around fast as fuck
Not even gonna lie, I died like 5 times before killing him
solidus was pretty based
What was supposed to be up with the left side of volgins face? It almost looked like he was a cyborg or something, the burns had flesh peeled away it looked like metal
youtube.com
This always makes me emotional
Nothing will beat 1 but all the rest of the games are great.
Electricity burns from his shock power I assume
Who let this pass inspection?
Dad?
son
you ve got a way to fall
There's a hole inside my boat
Guys,i started the series with mgsv.Which one should i play next ?
MGS2 is the best
MGS3 should have been the only prequel
MGS4 is actually great until you leave shadow Moses
MGSV is not a MGS game but a grindy western base building simulator
Fuck Kojima and Fuck Konami
dont even @ me if you didnt beat MG1 and 2
that is all
MGS3 > MGSV > the rest.
MGS2 is narratively interesting but the gameplay is total ass.
TPBP this post best post
>Until you leave Shadow Moses
>Implying Acts 1-3 are better than 5
act 5 felt like a never ending shooting galary where Kojima tried to push in too much fanservice at the last minute
its the weakest chapter in the entire game
1-2-3-pw-4
people call Huey the most cucked man in the world but i still think he hasnt surpassed his son just yet
Solid was more serious and introverted, BB was much more socialable, outgoing and mirthful by comparison, and while he typically operated solo, BB was a leader and never really alone. Solid was a lone wolf.
We're going to see MG 1/2 remade before that happens.
From what I understand it was more Kojima came to resent that his voice became iconic for the character because he wanted to replace him with someone famous.
Series sucks, and has laughably poor writing, even MGS2 does, and that's one of my favorite games of all time.
Faggot.
What does it mean to create context?
>Raiden
Shame it took until MGR for him to become good
>the problem with Kojima is that he tries to explain everything
Fans and Konami pressured him into this and he answered by making games where the meta-commentary is way more interesting than the actual content, especially MGS V.
No seriously, fans are such autistic assholes, the ending of MGS3 gives you ALL the elements of how Naked Snake became the Big Boss. The only games you need to play are MG and MG2, MGS1, MGS2 (which is the best conclusion to the series), and MGS3 for fun and to explain the motivations of Big Boss and why he created his nation of soldiers.
>its the weakest chapter in the entire game
Not 4? Surely you'd consider that the weakest from a gameplay perspective
Meant 3, whoops
