Possibly cause FF8's Steam port is based on some old PC version so they'd have to make a new port for consoles. You had to mod the PS1 music in cause the Steam port uses low-quality music from said PC port.
If FF8 does get a new port, it'll probably get the treatment FF9 did with updated models

Basically, at the time they deleted all the source doce of the game, making it almost impossible to do a decent port or get high resolution backdrops.

I think it's the best FF in terms of everything outside of certain gameplay decisions. Level scaling is fucking cancer and I stayed away from the series cause I thought that was a common thing in FF's. 8 was my first so I had nothing else to go by.

XIII has decent combat after 40+ hours when you unlock everything and finally encounter somewhat challenging enemies. Too bad the first 40 hours are a chore.

and FF8 has the best pacing in the series and some great set pieces. And probably the most replay value considering the entire game can be played as you desire with the junction system. You can make the game hard by levelling up without junctioning or shit on the game effortlessly with the card mod system and get thousands of hp and do thousands of damage right in the first 4 hours of the game. But no one ever talks about this shit or appreciates it because of muh stupid plot twist. Whatever...
