How did 00's internet (and vidya) culture go so wrong? Being able to bounce from newgrounds to runescape, to that bottomless PS2 library, everything felt so full of possibilities. That experience just doesn't exist today.
What would you know about the 2000s... you were barely alive
Alexander Watson
add halo to that image and we will be getting places
Hunter Baker
can we please just stop with these stupid ass wojak edits? It's so tiring
Brandon Gray
This one doesn't even make any sense.
Juan Morales
I agree, we used to have so many different OCs and shitty, yet funny jokes. Now everything is pepe or wojack edits that end up on instagram within a week.
>person born in 98 >wouldn't even be able to talk till 2002 >10 years old by 2008, not even old enough to play video games unless retarded parents >posts gamecube and ps2
>im-fucking-plying
Bentley Edwards
>Is it just nostalgia glasses? No, everything was irreversibly fucked in 2014
i remember growing up with all of this fondly (and pic related) and I was born in 92, does that make me a zoomer or just someone with extremely shit taste?
You know i hate these wojak edits, but this shit is stupid. Can people born in 88 and 89 not have nostalgia over 90s games now? Can't have nostalgia over the decade they grew up in
It was legitimately a good time. A lot of stuff was coming into it's own, video games were really starting to understand how to make 3D really work. I miss it.
Leo Bailey
My takeaway id that PS2 and Gamecube released in 2000 and 2001 respectively. A kid would be 3 years old when the PS2/gamecube would be in stores. Say the kid starts gaming at 10 years old which is still a huge stretch but fuck it, it's 2008 now. What game console is he going to get? A console from 2001 or a new Xbox 360 or PS3 released in 2006?
Keep the shitty wojak memes, but at least be fucking accurate in your memes.
Lincoln Cruz
Isn't this more for those born in like 1990-1995? Those born in 98 would've been barely conscious for the 2002 stuff like Newgrounds and PS2 and would've been more involed with the 2008ish stuff like Justin Bieber and iCarly.
This image is actually pretty relevant to my generation. All of those things were a part of my childhood. And while I don't personally vape almost everybody my age that I know does.
James Butler
A lot of this is for those born more like in 1990 like Cruisin USA
Liam White
I know, right?
I was born in '94, just barely on the "30" side of 20, and a lot of this shit doesn't even seem like it's applicable to people born this early.
Yes, and pcfags are the worst for it. I swear people talk about how good companies were with post launch support back in the old days.
And I say fuck off, you got 2 patches if you were lucky most of the time, had to download them from fucking fileplanet, the content would usually be a couple of game breaking bug fixes and maybe a couple of maps that weren't finished in time.
And if the game did get some real post launch support, you had to download patches and install them in order, so if the host for patch 1.02 that you needed to install the real big patch 1.1, you had to go find a file for it, and this was before everyone and their mother mirrored everything.
James Smith
>Born in 2000 and had all of these Minus the faggy shit in the bottom middle
Imagine being homeschooled and sheltered from mainstrean culture your entire childhood and belonging to no generation at all
Hahah yikes
Jason Carter
Getting these wrong by almost a decade makes the bait too obvious.
Caleb Bailey
Wrong generation retard
Isaac Gutierrez
No. Maybe an honorary zoomer. At least you have FF3 DS in there. That game is pretty based
Ryder Wright
Oh and lets not forget that PAL versions of some games would run slower, but also would sometimes get extra content and bug fixes because they were developed later on. So everyone lost somehow!
Gavin Ross

>mfw kids that had a 3ds in elementary school are old enough to be posting here time goes by too fast
I was born in 97 and I think it fits really well. A lot of stuff I have nostalgia for on there. Its obviously going to vary from person to person though, which is why these images are inherently not very funny or interesting outside of "I REMEMBER THAT THING!"
Jack Campbell
I associate more with early millennial. Was born in 87.
Jose Rivera
How do you guys feel seeing Early Zoomers now posting nostalgia for the downfall shit era (late 00s-early 10s)?
kids are into the things aimed at kids from the time they were kids while older people scoff at them?
THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.
Jayden Edwards
>Not realizing country towns in the midwest were way behind
We just started getting into the pokemon craze in 2001 with Yu-Gi-Oh bleeding in. Magic wasn't a thing in my town until 2004 or 5. No one heard of it or played it
Dylan Baker
nobody had a sega saturn
Jack Martinez
You are too young for the snes when it came out
Julian Baker
a lot like how I felt about people born in '90s back in 2009
Aiden Garcia
im probably the only one then. I had one exclusively for daytona usa and rayman
Juan Gonzalez
I just find it interesting when people try to say people born in 97,98, and 99 can't have nostalgia over the ps2, but when someone born in 87, 88, or 89 claims to have grown up with the snes and gameboy nobody says anything. Very interesting
Logan Gutierrez
I mean, I was born in 91 and my childhood was literally a mix of Amiga CD, C64, SEGA Megadrive (genesis) and Playstation 1.
Luke Murphy
SNES came to the U.S in '91. I was already playing Super Mario World in '92 and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Also got a Gameboy and Gamegear then. Not everyone started playing games at 10 years old.
I was born in 89. Linkin Park was more of a thing when I was growing up in middle school.
Jason Green
>has to wait till 10 to start playing vidya
What hellhole childhood did you have? I was born in 1992 and I first played vidya in 1997 at age 5. I would visit my uncles and my cousins had a PS1, would play Crash Bandicoot 1 and some Rally and racing games. Begged my parents for my own Playstation and I got one in 1998. I remember I got Spyro the Dragon which I fucking loved and played to death, I also got other classics like Crash 3, Gran Turismo, Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus, Tomba, Tekken 3 and Hercules on my PS1. Then I used to visit my uncle and he had a PC at this time and I played Age of Empires 1 and Command and Conquer 1 on his PC. I have so much nostalgia for the mid to late 90's era games. Then I remember in 1999 hyping for Spyro 2, and again in 2000 for Spyro 3. In 1999 I also branched out and got into Medal of Honor on my PS1, I got Gran Turismo 2, I got the fucking based and god tier Star Wars Phantom Menace game on my PS1. I also got Grand Theft Auto 2 and loved it, I rented GTA1 as well. This was all before the series became popular, I remember telling kids about how cool GTA2 was at school and no one had heard of GTA. I also played tons of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and High Stakes, and got those Army Men 3D games. My dad also got a computer in 1999 and I got Lego Rock Raiders and Command and Conquer Red Alert. This was all between the ages of 5-7.
>in 2007 and 2008

on the up side, I look the exact same, on the down side, I looked like this at 15.
Cameron Morgan
Finally a thread for me. Fuck boomers and fuck zoomers
Jordan Ross
Nothing wrong with that, but i just feel that people who grew up in the 90s are a lot of time hypocrites and are trying to make it seem like people who grew up in the 2000s had horrible childhoods. They will claim anything they deem good from the 2000s and say we can't have nostalgia over it. I just don't understand how someone born in 1988 can't have nostalgia for for the snes and be hypocritical about someone born in 98 can not be nostalgic over the ps2
Josiah Martin
It's because Zoomers are universally hated.
Robert Collins
2007-2009 is the real point of no return era, when the iPhone and social media like Facebook and Twitter truly took off and the internet was irrevocably changed for the worse If you don't have at least a few years of pre-2007 internet under your belt you're in a whole different generation
Juan King
yes we all saw that image user
Chase Martinez
Zoomer's watched Drake and Josh?
Asher Hughes
That's because they're literally the stereotypical "darn kids!" people and they didn't even realise that'd become it.
Zachary White
Indeed after 2007 everything went to shit.
Nicholas Hall
Yeah, if someone born in 1990 said they were a 90s kid no one would blink an eye, but If I as someone born in 1997 said the best years of my childhood were spent from 2002 to 2006 then the gatekeepers here would be all over me
Benjamin Bailey
*born in 88 can
Daniel Young
Kek, I was one of those guys back in 2009 hating on shit. Though I've always thought the downfall only happened in 2007. Also that based user realizing that Disney was brainwashing people all the way back then.
Jayden Campbell
i agree born in 91. and remember linkin park before say the 6th grade. how old would that kid have been? 1?
He may as well throw the slim shady LP on there while he's at it.
Logan Morales
As i've said before, it feels surreal to now see zoomers posting nostalgia for that 2007-2009 era you hated on
Michael Price
Why would someone born in 98 care about Hybrid Theory, an album that came out 2 years after they were born?
Adrian Sanders
It's all just non sense
Owen Morgan
Almost everyone I knew as a kid watched it. t. zoomer
Bentley Ramirez
98 isn't zoomer. Zoomers start in 2000.
Jeremiah Cooper
it's not really all that out there when you consider the fact that the only handhelds available at that time were Gameboy and Gamegear. We wouldn't see another iteration until GBA, unless you count trash like Virtual Boy. I don't see why zoomers think this is a "gotchya!" moment when late '89s babies say their handhelds were Gameboy.
Kevin Kelly
I was born in early 99 I experienced a little bit of of the ps1 era but after that I had binged on xbox ps2 and gamecube along with other hand held gaming devices
Blake James
"kids" media focuses on tha what, like, 6-11ish market, then everything else focuses on 12-15.
People need to accept that the way that the modern pop media machine works is that everything is focused towards the younger bracket to turn them into consumers early. Because once you're in, you'll almost certainly be sticking around. And the only things that might pull you out are if you go hardcore family life, and if you're going to do that they can't stop it, so they don't try. They just wait till you have to take your kid to kids stuff, then your teen to regular stuff.
Asher Morales
we have this thread every day
Isaac Anderson
They're certainly not 90s kids.
Andrew White
not really. I know most PS2 nostalgia threads are created by zoomers. Not saying it wasn't a good console, but when someone says PS2 was their childhood, then yeah, obviously I'm going to assume they were born in the late 90s.
Oliver Cruz
This won't become true regardless of how many times you repeat it.
Gabriel Stewart
it's more like 95-96, the weird hybrid kids, especially if you had older siblings to mix your influences up even more
James Myers
Go back to Instagram you fucking faggot. Also you weren’t born in ‘98 you were born in 2002.
Daniel Nelson
Ummm no. Somebody in here with their logic said that a persons in 98 would have only started 7th gen gaming in like 2007 or 2008 so with that logic people born in the late 90s would have not been using the og gambeoy, but would have started with the gameboy color in 98
>96 >95 You remember one or two years of the 90s. You are 2000s kids who are just remembering stuff from the early 2000s
Daniel Wood
Consoles, especially older ones, lasted for a lot longer than their lifetime did. I was born in 89 and yet my first "console" was a SNES. Shit was expensive for its time and people didn't always have the latest technology.
I think really stuff like the post-PS2 is really the end of that. Consoles are, comparably, cheaper than ever and people don't hold on to technology as much anymore.
Colton Reed
Im a 98 zoomer here and i don't like any of this shit lol
Logan Taylor
Yeah 2007 was extremely noticable. Myspace, Facebook, Iphones, social media, all that fucking garbage started around then. That shit Big bang Theory show started around then too. Then we had the 2008 financial crisis. Those two years were the death knell. I remember 2008 was also the first year I ran into SJW's. I was hyping RE5's release, and was just fucking perplexed that people were calling it racist, and some journalist prick was calling the game racist and all this other shit.
I can only imagine how surreal it feels for Gen X'ers. I visit Yea Forums a lot too, and Gen X'ers are constantly seething over the newfound love for the Sta Wars Prequels. They had such a culture of hate about them, and suddenly the next gen who grew up with the PT becomes of age and likes them, and compared tot he ST, loves them. It's hilarious watching them get mad at Millenials on Yea Forums.
Carter Johnson
So how do you feel about zoomers reappraising the stuff you hated?
Charles Bell
someone born in the late 90s would have started with the DS. Maybe GBA if they got in early.
Evan Baker
some people throw in 97 if you were born in the first 2 months. I remember alot from 99-01
Asher Robinson
i meant born in the late 80s
Jack Murphy
There is only one relevant huge generational gap right now, and it's the people who first experienced the internet at university, or work, and people who had it in their homes as a kid.
Everything else is window dressing. Even 2008 is because despite the damage it did, the system hasn't changed and we're probably just sat around waiting for it to repeat.
Brayden Howard
>there are people who think 90s was a good era
Connor Edwards
>is it the nostalgia glasses
if you have to ask
right up to 2050 when people on the coast start dying en masse to droughts, extreme weather, and hurricanes, life will continue to get better
zoomers fill their time with all the same shit you did, except its better versions of that shit. its not like games from your day disappeared, it just sucks now.
Kevin Jones
How did the 2000s start with 9/11 and end with a global recession and still end up better than the 2010s
Brandon Jones
Myspace was definitely before 2007
>I can only imagine how surreal it feels for Gen X'ers. I visit Yea Forums a lot too, and Gen X'ers are constantly seething over the newfound love for the Sta Wars Prequels. Yeah. The prequels used to be made fun of negatively on Yea Forums, but then after the release of The Force Awakens, people started praising them to be contrarian and the famous "prequel memes" took off greatly from there.
Christopher Walker
user nobody was running out to get the ps3 in 2006 and drop their ps2
Xavier Davis
yeah i'm talking about the OP picture, i think it applies to those years pretty well and you would be surprised how much some of us were influenced by the 90s by proxy, my first console was a sega genesis, much of my first wave of media and toys were handed down from late 80s through the 90s. i feel in between zoomer and boomer
Landon James
Depends how I am feeling on the day. Sometimes I will call them shit taste plebs, other times I will ignore and move on with my life.
What is gonna be harder though, is in 2028, people are gonna start having nostalgia for pure garbage like Marvel films or Nu Star Wars, or for EAfront 2 and garbage Ass Creed titles and walking sims.
It started getting bad around 2007-2009, but there were still tons of good games released then too. Now we are in a cultural fucking wasteland. Almost nothing good is getting made. And people are gonna have nostalgia for this garbage decade.
Juan Foster
Yeah I was born in 89 and my family was too poor to buy an SNES. I had a Nintendo that was given to us by my grandma.
Austin Wright
SNES wasn't even dead until the late '90s though. We were still getting a decent amount of games well until 96 or 97. People here act like PS1 immediately killed it in '94. Shit SNES was still getting Megaman X games until '95 when PS1 was getting shovelware in its infancy.
Jacob Mitchell
A lot of the issues with this revolve around how overused and incorrect most usage of "millennials" tends to be. Millennials are as old as 35 right now. If you were born between like 85 and 95 you are pretty much peak millennial. So the prequels appear, especially the 2nd/3rd, right at the starting point for most Gen of Z.
This is also why there is a transitional generation called Xillennials as they both didn't really experience the 80s, but experienced all of the 90s.
tfw under the wing of manchildren for so long that you never grew up. have advanced knowledge of everything late Gen X - Now. would exchange it all to be a functional human being.
Joshua Stewart
why a fucking wojak? why not draw a normal person? especially if we're talking about a culture from before moot's chink villa ever came into existence?
and the ps2 didn't immediately die when the ps3 came out
Michael Watson
How's it feel to be right on the start of Zoomerville?
Jace Watson
>under the wing of manchildren How? Elaborate.
Matthew Wilson
No user just because you got to play the snes in 2002 does not mean anything to me
Grayson Williams
ps2 is from 2000
Michael Garcia
Yea Forums feels like it's in constant civil war over Star Wars now. Half the board loves the PT, the other half hate it, almost everyone hates the ST except for the shills and SJW's, and then there are baitmasters who shit on the OT and claim PT is better. Then there are the oldfags who shit on ROTJ as well to be extra elitist.
Cameron Roberts
born in '91 so don't remember a lot of the 90s but my brother was big into games already and knew what was released and was going to be released so I still got to play quality vidya like warcraft 2 and later starcraft, heroes 1 & 2, and diablo.
Ethan Price
>he didn't surf the web in the middle school libraries because nobody knew how that shit worked so there weren't any blocked websites
I was around 11 years old when OG color came out. The only handhelds available until then we're Gameboy and Game Gear. My dad got me a Gameboy when I was 5, in '92. I don't believe anyone started playing video games inside of the womb, but at around 5? Certainly.
Joseph Green
A millennial is someone who was born in the 20th century but became an adult in the 21st century. Anyone who was born between 1982 and 1999 is a millennial.
Jackson Phillips
Your point? Almost every thread on Yea Forums is garbage
Juan Cruz
user the ps1 sold 102.49 million units and is one of the best selling consoles. Stop with your lies
Logan Hernandez
Feels alright I feel like a weird mix of zoomer/millennial Had a shitty pc as a kid so I could only play boomer stuff like Doom,Quake,Half Life and CS 1.6 Had Samurai Jack,Clone Wars and Sponge Bob was still good when I was a kid watching it
I've gotta agree. I was born in 1992 so I am peak Millennial, but I never experienced the 80's, and I don't really have anything in common with 80's born Millennials, I find they are the ones who bought heavy into the SJW shit, and are the reason the gen has a bad name too. 90's born Millennials are way more based.
Also I would say the Prequel Trilogy is definitely a 90's Millennial thing. Zoomers didn't start till 1997, so they were 8 max when ROTS came out. I was 7 when TPM came out, 10 when AOTC released and 13 for ROTS. I feel like I grew up with that trilogy. Zoomers can kind of lay claim to the Clone Wars tv show though, along with us.
Gavin Butler
Don't disagree that people born in the late 80 grew up with the snes and gameboy i'm just criticizing the logic of someone in this thread

"Millennial" is not defined by growing up in the 90s, you tard.
Matthew Green
zoomer starts after 95
John Price
Ned's declassified was pretty good though and had the old nick soul to it. Drake and josh did kinda signal the new style of stale couch potato sitcoms though, which would lead to iCarly

You people are retarded. It isn't called a "nintieslial," it's called a fucking millennial. From the word millennium. Any definition of a millennial must involve the year 2000 being some sort of cutoff.

Dylan Long
like i said had a shitty pc so i could only run boomer games
Chase Gutierrez
user in a few months, people born AFTER 9/11 will be old enough to post here.
We will literally be getting post-9/11 posters here end of year. Savor these months while you can. It's the last months Yea Forums is still majority filled with people who at least existed before 9/11.
God Jewt should have not made the age limit static. There should have been a hard cut off in 1999 at least.
>in a few years people who were born after Yea Forums was founded will be posting
Brody Young
Seeing people place so much value in hedonism and materialism through pop culture really brings home the vapid nature of modern life.
Like jesus christ do you actually think you're fucking special because you were an infant with zero preconceptions around the same time some shitty games and TV shows were on at the time?
Brandon Bennett
yeah, I mean, technically someone born in 2019 could grow up with an Atari if they were dirt poor. But I think we can all agree they were not part of that generation
It's weird to me how Yea Forums now thinks endless wojaks and rhyming -oom words is teh funnay, because I remember how early 2010s Yea Forums freaked out about Reddit overusing epic meme rage face stuff. It's like this board has become the exact thing it used to make fun of.

i'm not lying. it was easy to install. we had older siblings. some of us know doom, deal with it.

Nah. Millennials are 1982-1997. Each Gen is about 15 years long except for the Boomers who got extra length. Zoomers are from 1998-2013. Gen X from 1966-1981. Boomers 1946-1965, they got 4 extra years for some reason.
Eli Hughes
92 here. what am i?
Isaiah Harris
Good for you. I could play doom now and it wouldn't make me apart of that generation. You're not a hybrid you just played old games

gens are shorter now because the world and technologies change too fast no way is a person born in 97 the same gen as someone born in 82. completely different realities
Josiah Allen
Earlier zoomers were, mostly, influenced as younger siblings. They watched the prequels because their siblings did.
Christopher Russell

Jacob Harris
center for generational kinetics says millenial/gen y starts at 77 and ends at 95 and zoomer starts at 96 with the end not being established
Ethan Robinson
I agree. But 1982-1997 is still the official start and end dates of Millenials. There must be some mix up about the end date, but that is because different countries and cultures have slight differences. But in the west, Zoomers start at 1998. I should know, my youngest brother was born in 1998 and I've been making fun off him for not making it into the Millennial gen for almost 10 years now. All my other siblings are Millennial like myself.
Yea Forums being "18 and older" has always just been a meme. It has to say that for legal reasons, but it obviously isn't true. You don't get the dumb shit that Yea Forums was famous for from adults.

>I've been making fun off him for not making it into the Millennial gen for almost 10 years now But Millennial wasn't even a well known term in 2009. Did you catch on to it way before everyone else or something?
Evan Thomas
new millennium bros ww@
Dylan Roberts
That's retarded. What country's system is this. No way does someone born in 1977 have anything in common with someone born in 1995.
Xavier James
Yea Forums was always adults acting like teenagers pretending to be 18
Brayden Phillips
Yo who remembers this shit? I miss it so bad fuck zynga
I was born in 1992, and I'm curious about something. Back in the early 2010's, were people on here as mad about people my age as people are now at "zoomers"? I vaguely remember being on Yea Forums back then, but my memory is very bad.
Connor Taylor
Who 2000 here?
Carson Ward
Neither was Zoomer. I called him a Zeder and made dumb jokes by adding Z's into his name. Millennial was known as Gen Y at the time.
that always happens anywhere though the userbase just hadn't aged that much and there wasn't as much of a clear demarcation
Brandon Perez
me here chill
Aiden Myers
From what I've observed, 1994 is the last year that nearly everyone agrees is millennial, while 2000 is the first year that nearly everyone agrees is zoomer. Anyone born in between those years will probably forever be shifted around in definitions, much like the peeps born circa 1980-1982 who are either gen x or millennial depending which definition you're reading
Leo Hernandez
I was born in 91 and played snes and nes growing up. Not everyone can afford the newest consoles. There are a lot of kids who buy consoles a generation or two being because they’re cheaper and already have a large library of inexpensive games.
My first console was in 97 and it was an nes with over 20 games my dad picked up at a pawn shop.
Kayden Green
Yes. "IF YOU WERE BORN AFTER 1986 YOUR OPINION ON GAMES IS INVALID" used to be a popular image on here.
Ryder Clark
From the Wikipedia article, it looks like generally 96 is millennial and 97 is zoomer.
Born same year as you, and yeah, I remember people REEing whenever I mentioned I was born in 1992. Same for any 90's kids. All the 80's, and 70's if you believe it born user's were triggerd as fuck that "90'sfags" were allowed to post now. I got called a child until like 2013. It's only recent that we are now being treated like oldfags.
Jonathan Parker
What went wrong Yea Forums? Why has the taste in gaming changed so fucking much since the 2000s? > Internet's Favorites (GameFaqs) Characters (2002) > 1. Link > 2. Mario > 3. Sephiroth > 4. Crono > 5. Samus > 6. Scorpion > 7. Snake > 8. Cloud > 9. Rockman > 10. Sonic > 11. J.Valentine > 12. Pac-Man > 13. Aerith > 14. Alucard > 15. Lara Croft > 16. Pikachu > 17. M.Aensland Games (2004) > 1. FF7 > 2. C.Trigger > 3. Melee > 4. Mario Bros 3 > 5. OOT > 6. ALTTP > 7. Zelda (1985) > 8. StarCraft > 9. Wind Waker > 10. FFX > 11. GoldenEye > 12. MGS1 > 13. FF6 > 14. SMW > 15. Tetris Nowadays most gamers won't even recognize a majority of the characters on the top list
Yes, and if you got to some of the more mature boards on this website, you will still get this every so often. 90's born fag was a big insult that was common.
James Adams
>It's only recent that we are now being treated like oldfags.
It does feel strange that I'm now older than most other Yea Forums users. I remember being on Yea Forums back when Synchtube and Ace of Spades were popular things on here.
Landon Barnes
>mfw played all these because early gen X uncle like playing games despite being a blue collar worker
>Tribes isn't even the boxart lel God that games release was such a joke. It was basically unfinished.
Owen Clark
>1987 32 is great user my kid loves watching me play games and my wife has already left me.
Brandon Bailey
>not a single GOOD game your point?
Joshua Butler
Sad, an entire decade can't even compete with 1 year.
Gabriel Morales
>first game in the list hey todd watcha doing?
Camden Gonzalez
>whole decade against one year
Brandon Cox
>an entire decade has to compete with a single year cheers for proving my point
Michael White
Skyrim alone blows everything P posted out of the water.
Hudson Ramirez
96 fag reporting in. my high school was pretty interesting my junior year. the class above me was clearly more like the millennials and the class below me zoomed like a mazda commercial. one user said it feels like a mix between zoomer/millennial and that's pretty spot on. kinda makes it hard to fit in on top of already being kinda awkward.
is anyone gonna get mad if i admit i've been on Yea Forums since late 2010? i pretty much just lurked up until 2018
Even normalfags could name most characters on that list.
Jackson Wright
I don't understand how it went from being balanced demographically supporting all platforms & fandoms, to basically being solely dominated by Zelda, Pokemon & Smash shit
Julian Collins
Portal 2 is the only good game on that list. Witcher 3 is a maybe, but it's pushing it. While this only has 1 bad game on it (OoT).
Nathan Wright
everyone did that, if anything for better or worse you have a deeper ingrained understanding of Yea Forums having somewhat grown up with it. probably for worse... 95 since 2008 posting the whole time, its taken a lot of work to be a decent person
Daniel Lee
>Portal 2 is the only good game on that list. Witcher 3 is a maybe, but it's pushing it Fuck off boomer. You're way too blinded by nostalgia to actually realize that most games in were shit.
Noah Roberts
Yeah, last year I suddenly realized I was now older than the majority of the board, and I felt really weirded out. I had to leave Yea Forums for a few months. The fact that I realized I had just become an oldfag was strange.
Jacob Smith
>the class below me zoomed like a mazda commercial. In what way? Like were they more into "Early gen z" stuff like iCarly and Hannah Montana than you?
Wyatt Johnson
Why is it that all of those games on the right are rated so much higher (Metacritic) then the ones on the left? I don't understand, games have only gotten worse yet games keep getting insane amounts of praise that rivals most classic games in their time
Nathan Sullivan
That makes it okay?
Jonathan Roberts
>Is it just nostalgia glasses? Obviously. You were a kid you had no responsibilities. If you were 30at the time you would probs be a proto doomer
Leo Peterson
>Why is it that all of those games on the right are rated so much higher (Metacritic) then the ones on the left? Because they're better dipshit.
Christian Morgan
>be in computer class at school >retard next to me looking at google search bar for several minutes >types "potato panic" >starts laughing hysterically before any results even come up
Jason Brooks
I feel like I'm getting too old for this board as well, though I keep coming back here out of habit.
I was born in 98 and this image applies to me 100%
Mason Richardson
>Why is it that all of those games on the right are rated so much higher (Metacritic) then the ones on the left? they're not though? ocarina is the highest rated game of all time
Zachary Evans
>he thinks old games are shit because they were limited to their control scheme and technology of the time
Yeah I left and started maining /biz/. I went to /vr/ for a while, but the board was too slow, and still wont accept PS2 gen game discussion. So I left and had Yea Forums as a side board instead and /biz/ as a main board for a while to get over the fact I was outgrowing Yea Forums. But then I realized I was missing out on tons of gaming news, and new games were getting announced and I was finding out only months afterwards, popular releases came and went and I didn't even notice. So I had to come back, and accept that I am an oldfag now and make peace with the fact this is a zoomer board now and that shit taste will be everywhere.
Andrew Miller
definitions vary. I'm 94 and i'd consider 93-99 a transitional period between growing up in an unconnected world to a connected world. Thinking back on it, the difference between how people used the internet from 2009 and 2011 was completely different. I'd say 2010 was when the mass adoption of social media, and smart phones happened rather than 2007.
Like i can see links between 2007 and 2009. But if i compare 2009 to 2011 it feels like they are in completely different eras. If i compare 2011 to 2019 i feel like it has been pretty similar, only difference is that people are more hostile.
92 was probably the best year to be born in, you got to be old enough to experience the cutting edge technology transition
Joseph Jenkins
They aren't, BOTW is the only game that's rated as high as the ones on the left.
Jackson Scott
I wonder if kids still climb trees or play freeze tag these days, i hope they do
Brody Sullivan
>>Thief >>Half Life >>Fallout 2 >>Resident Evil 2 >>Metal Gear Solid >>Shit Yes all shit >Thief A boring stealth game with little to no charm >Half Life Overrated trash >Fallout 2 One of the worst rpgs with a retarded lol aren't I wacky!! tier humor. Add to that the fact that it was hilariously easy to break and you got yourself a shitty fallout game. >>Resident Evil 2 Boring shitty horror game. >>Metal Gear Solid The start of Kojima hack career. None of them are good compared to most modern games
Benjamin Sullivan
Yea Forums was always there for me, i could always come lurk a thread whenever i needed to kill time or forget life sucked. still is
These days I just spend more time playing single player games. I still feel OK with that, but being on Yea Forums feels odd now that I'm nearly a decade older than everyone else.
Easton Howard
>Wew, now this is peak shit taste. Not even gonna bother with the rest of your post. It's all downhill from there. I accept your concession
Kevin Perry
Never said it was you sperg
Charles Martinez
Dude im gonna be fucking 21 in a few weeks. Anyways gotta say Wolfenstien ET was my shit back then.
Cooper Fisher
>If i compare 2011 to 2019 i feel like it has been pretty similar, only difference is that people are more hostile.
I feel like there's a lot more political butthurt on the Internet these days. Even on Yea Forums, things have changed, while I remember how things on here used to be just "LEL JIMMIES SHIGGY DIGGY PLUS TIP".
I was born 96 and can relate to half these things. As I was writing this I noticed the pinball game in the bottom left - i used to play that shit on my grandpas computer for hours, holy hell haha
Isaac Long
It depends on the parents. I wouldn't view generations as anything more than a 10% shift in standard deviation to the norm of another generation. Good parents will still raise balanced children, bad parents will raise children but with slightly more distractions.
Dylan Ramirez
I'm from 98 and the only thing from this image I remember fondly is Spider Man 2.
Yeah, same. I mainly play SP games now, aside from occasional milsimcades. I mainly stopped playing nu-vidya around 2012 as well, with only a few exceptions. So I feel distanced from all the people playing the latest turds too. I wont even bother with them, I am happy playing classic vidya I missed from the 1996-2007 golden age for the most part.
Parker Barnes
>needs 4 years to start talking Is this a stealth insult about zoomers being retarded or is it horrendous parenting? I started forming fully realized sentences after a year or so.
I was born in 1985 and Linkin Park was part of my teenage years. It was the perfect time to listen to them while attending high school and I can't imagine how a fucking 2 year old would listen to Hybrid Theory according to that picture, so I'd appreciate if you would stop spreading lies.
Asher Young
I was born in 97 and I can relate to everything but Call of Duty like it's kinda scary how accurate it is to me
People started to call anything original >reddit Creative types got bored or stopped posting because there wasn't a point of making something new if it was going to be shat on. It was an attempt to preserve the culture and it ended up poisoning the sites creativity in the long term.
Elijah Rogers
>people born after 2000 are 21 now
What the fuck?
Grayson Morgan
I doubt you'd find many people in real life that consider 1996 and 1997 to mark the beginning and end of the generations. Everyday people just see you were born in a year beginning with "1" or a year beginning with "2" and that's enough for them to ascertain what generation you belong to
Brody Hughes
i watched Yea Forums go from "winrar!" and "fail. GTFO" to "based" and "yikes, cringe" such decadence... such decay... waiting for OP to deliver sweet release
I also feel like Yea Forums used to be more silly back when I first started coming here. There was a lot of off-topic stuff back then, but it was mainly just goofy nonsense like those "19.95 plus tip" threads.
Samuel Cruz
feels like a logical evolution of internet shit
Elijah Harris
>tfw I'm a newfag that only got to see this place go from "ISHYGDDT" and "le monkey face" to what it is now
Asher Lopez
3 generations have grown up thinking they're the rebel fighting against the establishment. While they were the establishment.
Its worse in Europe.
Colton Taylor
Because this meme really means you were born 98'-00' and had an older sibling. You either adopted their old vidya or got to play their new stuff meant for a different age bracket.
Oliver Young
>98 zoomer
more like 92
Chase Price
Born in 96, CoD should be MW2, NFS should be Underground 2(MW fine too), in general it's pretty accurate even if while everyone listened Linkin Park i loved to listen Skillet.
Hunter Diaz
every younger generation just got worse and worse and with each, iteration less and less nuance. i believe it has much to do with smartphones becoming increasingly more capable/the bandwith on which information was sent and received got much larger in a short span of time, memes were blowing up and subsequently reddit culture got (even more) worse. all in a short span of time. i like the think i escaped it narrowly by being born 96, but this whole era is pretty fucking plagued
Adam Brooks
You're trying too hard. You are one year older than someone born in 97 and grew up on the same stuff
30 year old Millennials are unironically turning into boomers.
Parker Baker
I’m pretty grateful for being born in 94. I remember newgrounds and ebaums fondly back in 2001-2006 starting at seven years old. I believe my introduction was the skull kid flash game that a teenage family friend showed me.
Ian Foster

Easton Hill
>all those people ITT born after 1990 >all those people ITT born after 1995+
Jesus fucking Christ, what happened to this place?
what i mean user is that with each new class of kids they are more and more likely to subscribe to that reddit type bullshit. most reddit memes just affirm the current narrative and it feels like there's less and less reasonable people every year. Or maybe there have always been sheep but our devices have left it so well pronounced this time around, maybe this is the first time my eyes have been open.
Jacob Walker
Core/late millenial master race. Fuck early millenial soiboy garbage
>how horrible gaming is now Games are better now than they were back then
Hudson Parker
Core Gen Y = Late Gen Y > Early Gen Z > Core Gen X > Early Gen X > > Late Gen X = Early Gen Y >>>>>>>>>>> Core Gen Z
Though this is only going by what's on the image. If you include Jurassic Park, and Back to the Future, Late Gen X and Early Gen Y would be higher. Late Gen Y is also missing Lord of the Rings, though Core Gen X gets the old cartoon LOTR.
Jack Morgan
Nah.
Jason Gonzalez
Oh shit, this image. I definitely saw this image on something as a child, but I just can't place it.
yes 5th gen games are objectively worse and Yea Forums would also shit on them if they came out today
Sebastian Morales
Nah.
Jace Martinez
I spend more time on other chan nowadays but I still come here to see what marketers/normalfags are doing. Old habits die hard. Still have to use reddit even but I'm well aware that it is a porn haven.
Ayden Perez

Because he's not some neanderthal who would eat with his hands?
Adam Bell
Give up the MP trash user. Completing SP games at least give you some sense of achievement and you can look back at all the titles you finished and see the list grow.
What was the arts degree? I also fell for the uni meme and got a useless arts degree. Though the STEM degree is a total meme now too apparently so now I don't feel bad over it. You should go to /biz/.
Landon Roberts
Early Gen Z is way too high. At the time it was widely considered the downfall shit era.
Bentley Bailey
Multiplayer games always just numb my brain at the end of the day, they're my vice. I got a degree in literature, which I don't necessarily consider useless as I only needed to incur $2k debt while working part-time. (Canadian) I'm just lazy, have no good habits, and really just dislike my life and myself. I can't do anything productive unless I'm forced to do it, but that won't get a person anywhere.
But yeah, I'll crack open a SP game in my backlog tomorrow, just because I don't zone out and play them for 8 hours like I do with MP games.
Colton Ward
If anything core-late millennial is onions. Early millennial you had edgy shows like Ren and stimpy, core-late you had onions shows like Pokemon and Spongebob that turned kids gay.
Justin Wood
>tfw born in 1996 but experienced stuff from the 80s and 90s because I was born in a third world country Back in 2006 I would still rent VHS tapes and go to arcades, good shit.

>grandparents let you watch the old cartoons they've recorded over the years, even the ones that've been edited or just never shown on tv anymore
What the fuck are you even talking about zoomer. Everything you described exists today.
Chase Robinson
I'd say its more applicable to countries outside america where people continued to play old consoles long after their release. I'm a '99 zoomer and this is literally me and my friends childhood except replace those shitty shows with classic cartoons like Tom & Jerry
Isaac Bailey
>didn't experience the 90s >perfect timing Are you retarded? You skipped the best era of gaming, from early 90s to mid 00s. When we went from doom 2 to quake in 3 years and from quake to hl2 in 8. That kind of progress will never happen again. Witnessing it was truly magical. I pity everyone who missed that era. And I pity everyone who never saw the pre-internet world of the 90s. You will never get it.
Joseph Morales
Fuuuuuck man i feel you this is bull shit
Xavier Jackson
Do Zoomers really do gay ERP now? It's something I keep hearing about that apparently goes on on Discords. How did something like that come to be normalized within your generation?
>Superior to all gens that came before it If you're a consolefriend maybe, 5th gen PC games were the golden age of gaming.
Camden Ortiz
>That kind of progress will never happen again. Not the guy you replied to but I don't think this is true. Progress has stalled because it is too dependent on human labor. Artificial intelligence will change everything about game development.
Parker Garcia
ah ned the show went kinda went to shit when they bought new people on, and the whole ned and jennifer love arch thing
Luis Rivera
Started posting at 14, it's easy to pretend you're of age if you're not retarded, just don't act 14.
Cooper Mitchell
>10 years old by 2008, not even old enough to play video games unless retarded parents t. hypocrite born in 1988 who brags about playing pre fifth gen consoles
kids born in 1998 were barely even around for the PS2 during its prime, they were fucking 8 when the 360/PS3 came out. i'm a 1996 zoomer and even I identify more with 7th Gen consoles, even though I did have have a PS2/Gamecube for the first few years of my early childhood
Juan Morris
93 fag here. idk i think back in the day when i was in hs like before reddit was so ubiquitous there was a balance of shitposting and genuine discussion on all blue boards or at least the ones i go on (Yea Forums Yea Forums Yea Forums Yea Forums fit/ /ck/ and even on pol sometimes) but now its all multilayer ironic shitposting because so many normies and unironic posters just went to reddit eventually so in order to talk on these boards u have to be on the developing discussion so intimately to get through all the shitposting and man is it fucking exhausting
Yea Forums still has good threads and funny memes but its just different i guess
Jaxson Bailey
28 soon... fuck
Dylan Davis
Assuming we don't go extinct in the near future I can foresee people putting the recent advances in natural language processing to work in their games in the near term. youtube.com/watch?v=D5VN56jQMWM Imagine every NPC in a game having almost inexhaustible dialogue trees that are fully voice acted and adapt themselves to every event in the game.
Aaron Carter
The question should be did playstation exist when you were born? if no = boomer if yes = zoomer
Benjamin Perez
I'm from 98 and aside from vaping, CoD and the zoomer haircut, everything else applies to me
Nolan Evans

Same, its even visible in HTC Vives shitty webcam. Full bald soon.
Jackson Davis
If this place still exists in thirty years many of us will still be here.
Lincoln Hill
I'm nearly 27, and I was either 18 or 19 myself when I first started going to Yea Forums. The oldest thing I really remember is that I was on Yea Forums when MML3 was cancelled, and everyone here flipped out about it. I think I also remember something about a guy getting arrested over hacking the PS3, but I don't remember much about that.
Wyatt Johnson
I was born in 97 and some of my earliest vidya related memories are playing Ps1 games around 2002-2003. But I had an older sibling and grew up in a poor family. The amount of pre gen 7 nostalgia people born around the 1996-1999 zone absolutely depends on how they personally grew up. I take it you had no older siblings.
Asher Ward

I find it really disgusting that people who post wojaks and normalfag memes are being nostalgic about the 00s here. I'd understand underage newfags who don't know any better, but did your brains melt as you got older?
