I was decent at PM when I was in uni (win a few club weeklies a semester, always top 8 when we'd do intramurals with our rival school's club) but I'm completely dogshit at Ultimate. Pretty much skipped 4 altogether (released the year I graduated school, never got around to buying a WiiU for it)

Ultimate takes a while getting used to. The dash mechanic is different than any smash game but behaves similarily to melee. Rolling is punished heavily. Landing lag is gone on most moves but it's not the same with L-cancel. Shielding is also punished in this game because of the shieldstun and the rate of depletion from jabs. It's quite difficult getting used to when you're used to PM. Smash 4 was dogshit floating in space with infinite rolls and shield.

I've definitely noticed the rolling bit. I think there's a bit of rollback on techs in general as opposed to properly reading, neutral game, etc that's just killing me.

yeah I can agree. There isn't much technical to do other than tech when hitting a wall or landing. wavelanding is still neat but not very practical unless you're out for spacing. Also notice how a lot of characters have no combo strings.
