Not a lot of hype for submarine combat+ peace negotiations games.

Some existed, but it kinda peaked with 25th Anniversary and Judgment Rites. And there there is the way that the franchise has been unpopular with the core audience since Abrams molested it.

cant believe cunts still watch western TV and film

nu movies were awful and the series in your pic is behind a paywall for a shitty streaming service that nobody uses

Besides Star Trek Online which has been going on for 9 years and the devs have at least another 3 years of content planned for it?

You mean Netflix?

>STD
>Star Trek

Pick one

Is this the thread where we get mad at blacks and act like there has never been a black in Star Trek?

shut up incel

>mad at blacks
They've never been annoying before.

when has that ever happened? it's a pretty popular opinion that ds9 was peak trek.

Phasers are lame.

>nu
stopped reading there

The people who have their hands around the neck of the IP probably demand too much of a licensing fee or otherwise have some overbearing demands over control of the game.

last time I checked, its not on Netflix

It's on Netflix literally every country in the world outside of the ((((USA)))). Looks like you guys got cucked.

shut the fuck up

Was I the only one who played the fucking weird Resident Evil game?

STD is not real ST, Orville is.

People actually watch this garbage instead of the Orville.

He's just trying to be funny, like a circus clown

>wojack
>frogposter
The biggest faggot in the thread right here.

SeeHow's that Season 3 renewal coming along, Orshill?

Evidently not, since STD is getting canned pretty soon.

Clowns aren't funny though. So in that regard he's succeeding in just being a retarded attention-whore.

Macfarlane humor killed orville for me.
>I have to work with my ex wife ohhh noooooo

Neither is the Orville - but don't take that the wrong way, it's not Star Trek either. It's like a failed fan film. Like Axanar!

A Telltale style game could have been cool back when they were still solvent.

Star Trek is for normies now.

Like that matters? Sure there's Trek fans outside of the US, but the Trek fandom is made or broken by the US fans. And CBS All Access has about 25 subscribers.

>Franchise limps along for years because it caters too much to a small hardcore audience
>Expands to make it more normie-friendly and explodes in popularity and makes more money than it ever had before
>Original fanbase feels betrayed even though they didn't support the franchise in its hardest times enough for it to survive

Where have I heard this story before?

Not him, but that might have been the case in the past but it's certainly not these days with global programming. STD is huge in countries like Germany, in fact Germany even has a theme park with a Star Trek world modeled on the new franchise.

These threads suck. Go back to Dukatposting.

>unironically liking Orville

Reminder that the best star trek game is the Armada 3 mod for SOSE.

>theme park with a Star Trek world modeled on the new franchise
I did not know that, fair enough, and I guess there's no accounting for taste. From what I've read, Netflix basically paid for S1 of STD, and now STD 2 is finally available, I wonder what the differences in budget has been.

Orville has writers from Next Generation and Voyager and feels much more like a 90's Trek show than Discovery despite Seth McFarlane's hit or miss humor.

STD is pure 100% garbage.

Attached: std season 1.jpg (716x136, 19K)

There are quite a few but it's true recently there haven't been many new ones.

This is the main reason though.

A grand strategy paradox-style game might be fun. However, if it was made by paradox you'd expect 15 DLCs and plenty of bugs.

FPS doesn't work well for it in my opinion. Klingon what's his name, I'm looking at you.

Battle tactics games have been done and all I tried were underwhelming.

I don't know about an RPG. It might be possible but I'm not sure about it.

Like said a Telltale game sounds reasonable for those who like it. Less chance of it happening now...

A sort of Lucasarts / Broken Sword style game could be fun - I'm old though :P

A VR game has potential but the only one I know is that Bridgecrew thing and I hate multiplayer.

Maybe a research and tactics game in a more X-com style.

orville is fucking cringe

I think the arrangement was always that Netflix paid a big sum for distribution for STD, which was enough to cover CBS' expenses. Season 2, in theory, should cost less because the main sets, etc have already been built and they can re-use more. Netflix also got the rights to the Short Treks and Picard series, so maybe there's more cash coming through there.

Image is part of the theme park in Germany. It has a rollercoaster where you're on a shuttle leaving the Enterprise that looks pretty kino.

Actual Star Trek >>>> Orville > STD
You cannot dispute this.

season one was trash but season two is legit good.

I guess the problem for me is we got like 600 episodes of 90's style Star Trek from TNG-ENT, and it got really apparant they were running out of steam by the end of that run. Orville has some neat parts, but they really are covering territory that ST has covered thoroughly before, from characters to plotlines. Even that neat two-parter with Isaac was a story from Voyager called Prototype.

Nah, they were trying to normalize Star Trek with the introduction of the darker aspects of the Federation in Deep Space 9, Enterprise trying too hard to be "adult", and then the endless jerking off to the TOS era. They only hit gold with the reboots because they made the characters more relatable to your average person and in turn making everyone an emotional asshole.

i remember playing some but at the time i was too young to understand what to do so i didnt get very far

I don't think DS9 was trying to go for wider appeal, but 'test' the ideals of Star Trek with more adult storytelling. You're right that ENT tried to appeal more to the normie crowd, but it was hideously misjudged between the opening song and the awkward attempts to be sexy (like the decontamination room).

So I assume this is as trash as Enterprise was? Okay. Not that big of a deal. On to the iteration.

They were able to go darker with DS9 because Rodenberry had died and he had for a long time blocked any attempts to write the Federation as anything but sterling example of humanity's best.
the first few 2 or 3 seasons sucked but then the cancerous producers all shifted their attention to Voyager and DS9 was able to blossom.

CAMERA NEVER STOPS MOVING IN STD IT KEEPS GOING ON ON AND ON WOOO UPSIDE DOWN TRACKING SHOTS DURING CONVERSATIONS ISN'T THIS COOL GUYS

Season 1 tried way too hard to go grimdark gritty war, but failed in comparison to DS9. It had an amusing multi-episode visit to the Mirror Universe, but beyond that wasn't great.

Season 2 has overall been better with more episodic stories and interesting ideas. The over-arching arc of 'the red angel' entity appearing across the galaxy to save people is a bit shit though, and all signs point to it having a disappointing conclusion. However, it did give us Pike as captain for a full season of Trek and he's pretty based. His Number One has excellent tits too.

>I don't think DS9 was trying to go for wider appeal, but 'test' the ideals of Star Trek with more adult storytelling.

I can agree with you on that, but I feel like they saw that people liked the darker aspects of DS9 and it sort of laid the foundation for what they thought was being more "adult" and how they could reach a wider audience with that. I feel like a big problem with the franchise is that they do one thing that people really like and spend forever trying to recapture that and think more is better.

armada 3 mod for what?

Google "Star Trek Armada 3" and find out. It's not like there's that many Star Trek mods, let alone something specific as Armada 3.

the best episodes of TNG and TOS were multi-faceted and explored and tested the limits of the federations value system. having long over-arching storylines doesn't lend itself to being 'adult-like' in and of itself, it's the complex story telling that can only be possible when you step outside the bounds of the federations preachy moral supremacy.

That's been the problem with a lot of STD S2. It has interesting situations that don't get played out to the extent they should be because the creative team are more worried about pacing. Like

>Ep2: Discovery finds a colony of humans who were transplanted to an alien world against their will 200 years ago. They're heavily religious, and have no knowledge of the Federation or warp, but some of them dream of the stars. Does the Prime Directive apply?
Fuck it, let's just not tell them and leave them alone. Cya suckers

>Ep4: A sentient planetoid, the last of its kind, grabs Discovery and holds it in place while it seems to hack its systems. What does it want - what even is it?
Burnham (of course) figures out it's peaceful and everything will be fine if they just relax and let it do its thing lol.

>Ep6: Discovery returns to Saru's world where his race are raised as livestock, slaughtered before they mature by another warp-capable race. It's revealed that originally, Saru's race were the planet's predators and when they mature they're extremely powerful, which is why the prey race turned the tables with their technology and forced Saru's people into submission. What does Discovery do? Does the Prime Directive apply?
lol let's just forcibly mature Saru's whole race with some technobabble and leave, figure it out on your own assholes

Sins of a Solar Empire.
Great RTS/4x hybrid

do you know who jonas salk was?
he was the jewish scientist that cured polio. he created the march of dimes to raise millions to fund his research.
polio was a crippling and deadly disease putting children all over the world into a wheelchair or an early grave. the vaccine for polio was one of the greatest medical achievements of the last century. its a globally essential medicine.
and this guy jonas salk?
he could have made billions from it. he could have patented it and made actual billions of dollars.
you know what he did? he waived the patent. he gave up billions just to make sure as many people who could be helped got the help they needed. he became a celeb after that even though he hated it. truly a great man and he left the world a better place than he came into it.

If I had a choice between polio existing in the USA/world and jews. I would choose polio every single time and twice on sundays. I would infect myself with polio and tour america spreading the disease in a custom built wheelchair or crutches if it meant all the jews and their influence were excised from my country like the cancer they are.
polio is nothing compared to the harmful effects of jews on the USA and world.I would give anything to live in a world where our biggest problem was building access ramps and compliance with the civil disabilities act.

that sounds like hyperbole. it is not. 100% authentic feelings. I cant sleep at night anymore. I wish I never started questioning things. I wish I was still a dumb rube out there able to laugh at things instead of a woke misanthrope. I envy the dumb.

The best star trek game with an active community:

There's DOZENS. They don't make them anymore because no one watches it anymore. Only the original series, Next Gen, and DS9 were ever not shit.

Oh shit people play this regularly?

STD is aids

I appreciate Seth wanting more Star Trek and just making his own version, but feel bad for him because Fox sees him as nothing but the funny family guy man and pushes for more overt comedy in the show

Tell me if your federation is so so why are there no good Star Trek games?
