On 14th March, YouTube channel Toy Bounty Hunters uploaded a two-hour long interview session with well-reputed actor Reuben Langdon who has been the voice of Dante since Devil May Cry 3. In the interview, the actor revealed how Series Director Hideaki Itsuno almost resigned from Capcom following the release of DmC: Devil May Cry.
“He was ready to leave Capcom”, Reuben said. “He was not happy. And I think he put in his resignation and then they said wait-wait, you’re a valuable guy (and) we don’t want you to leave. What can make you stay?”
In the words of Reuben, Itsuno demanded a Devil May Cry game. Itsuno had a wishlist and Devil May Cry was on the top of his wishlist. He said he’ll stay if Capcom let him do a Devil May Cry game the way he wanted to do it. Reuben further commented, “Hats off to him(Itsuno) and hats off to Capcom for going all out and they literally gave him everything he requested and wanted for this game. And it’s paying off.”
The guy had saved the franchise, if it wasn't him, we still wouldn't had a new Devil May Cry game.
Caleb Sanchez
That cocksucker westaboo called Keiji Inafune had left by then right? Probably one of the reasons why Capcom was so much more receptive to this demand.
Zachary Ramirez
No, he need to make DMC6 before he kick the bucket.
Jackson Barnes
Is Keiji Inafune the John Romero/George Broussard of our time?
Inafune and Ben Judd were forced out in 2010, just after DmC were announced. They were forced out because of the Bionic Commando 2009 bomb. DmC was released in 2013.
Internally, Capcom knew how awful and incompetent Ninja Theory was. They had to explain how to animate bloody punches. I'm sure Itsuno was shaking his head at what NT was up to.
Kevin Murphy
After the shit that was Mighty #9, I don't fucking care about his works anymore. Besides, it was Inafune who made capcom to work with a shitty western developers.
Ryan White
B-But the DmC fans told me that Itsuno really wanted to make DmC 2!
Caleb Baker
That's what I meant, he strikes me as one of those self-styled "rockstar devs" who stubbornly impose their incorrect read of the market and get distracted easily by shiny things like new engines and spinoff franchise material. Companies are better off with their absence or keeping them under the tightest leash imaginable.
Cameron Richardson
>getting the cucked version
Elijah Morgan
Remember when we thought pic related was going to ruin the game?
Nah, Itsuno said some nice things just to not bring a fight between the fanbase of DMC and DmC.
He's the father of the franchise since Devil May Cry 2-5, of caurse he wouldn't been happy with the reboot.
William Clark
Inafune was one of the first "rockstar" devs actually. He never turned down an interview, especially with English news agencies. For that reason, he kept getting press, and kept being associated with the Mega Man series. He probably learned this from John Romero, who was the OG Rockstar dev.
Ironically, Inafune repeated Romero's path with MN9 which was his Daikatana.
James Evans
I wish he had as much of a fetish for the dodge button as Kamiya did, but also I'm glad that's the way things are or else DMC and Bayonetta would be too similar.
Matthew Murphy
But it did? It showed how fucking incompetent the team was right out the fucking gate.
James Roberts
based nigger, you're alright dont go to the kwanzaa festivle this year
Ian Cruz
Everyone on Yea Forums at the time was making Dina out to be this Grima Wormtongue that would just suggest bad ideas to inafune, when Inafune didn't need help with coming up with some pretty shitty ideas.
Lincoln Fisher
Kamiya is a total dickhead to begin with. The guy has no respect for his fanbase, he's mostly spending his whole time just to act like a clawn in twitter instead of making games, the guy was working at Platinum since 2006, and what he made during those years were some 3 games, and one of those 3 games was cancelled. He's a lazy bitch ass.
Oliver Hill
While we're talking devs with an ego, what of Kamiya? He also broke off due to disputes, is fairly opinionated, makes games that seem to have difficulty selling well, but the caveat here is that his games garner a cult following and review well critically. Is he just punished to have a poor fate? Is he just >tfw to intelligent?
Wyatt Brown
>Kamiya has no respect for his fanbase You're talking about the guy who, despite having a terrible grasp of english, visited Yea Forums because W101 organized a photoshoot of 101 physical copies of the game.
Brody Wright
Moving around the areas in DMC5 feels as dull as it did in the previous games. Bayonetta has panther and crow which really make traveling the area more fun. I don’t need more defensive options but more movements options in his action games would be highly appreciated.
Easton Hall
>visited Yea Forums because *W101 fans fixed
Kayden Nguyen
No, I'm talking about a guy who calls his followers a brainless insects and blocking anyone who's talking in english with him.
Lincoln Scott
When your feed is full of obvious b8ing, port begging, request to make FOTM anime like KLK into a platinum game, & journos taking your words out of context, you would be a bitch too.
You can use the infinite Devil Trigger while playing as Super Dante or Nero and move faster.
Bentley Evans
I think he's taking twitter way to serious.
Levi Brown
In another words, where is Bayonetta 3?
Blake Gutierrez
Kamiya isn't that much of a dick. He did a roundtable discussion with project heads of REmake 2 just last week.
Ethan Rivera
No way. It's not DMC if I'm not jumping to dodge.
Cameron Green
Twitter is a cesspool, and he's unironically smarter than 50% of people who use it for doing so. You can still be a fan while also, you know, respecting his boundaries.
He gets stupid questions, dumb requests, death threats and gets called a racist all the time, just because he got fed up with people mindlessly droning on at him. Now he blocks people out of habit, even if they're posting friendly things, because they don't take a second to read his profile or his image that literally repeat the message constantly.
Jacob Morgan
Pretty much this. Not every fucking game dev has to act like one of your friend simulator E-celebs.
Jaxson Rivera
No, I would have loved it if it just went full stupid instead of the halfassed piece of shit we got.
Evan Bell
The man thinks you're inferior to him because you aren't ethnically Japanese.
Jeremiah Gutierrez
The man thinks you're inferior because you can't fucking read, and if that's the takeaway you got from his messages, he's right.
Nolan Wright
>Blasting my way through SoS having zero issues, annihilated Cerberus without taking much damage, if at all. >Mission 17 happens. >Can't get close enough to even knick Urizen's shins at any point, constant bombardment of bullshit projectiles fucks me up hard (mainly the summoned swords and he hits me with something else while I'm trying to avoid or guard against them). >Stuck on half HP for a long time, fuck up too many royal guards or trickster dodges and die. Eventually use a gold orb because I've been on this boss for 45 minutes and I'm getting pissed. >V's summons kick my ass for an hour until I get mad and use a gold orb in the final round. >Same happens with Vergil for Dante and Nero's fight, have an easy time until he gets to almost dead then he just counters every single thing I throw at him, none of my dodges or blocks are worth dick all.
I've beaten 3 and 4 on DMD and I never had this much difficulty with a DMC game before.
This upsets you why? Are you mad that an Asian man doesn't acknowledge your the superior race or something?
Mason Taylor
mission 17 on SOS? That's easy shit. Learn to enemy step / jump cancel, he can't really do much when you're above him.
you dont want to kick his shins. you want to air trick and get up high, you're safer.
Gavin Ortiz
ive gotten all S ranks on 3 DMD and that's infinitely harder than anything in 5. Even Hell and Hell.
John Jenkins
>fan: did you read the article? >Kamiya: do you eat shit? Based
Jordan Ross
That's not even just a fan, that's the Kotaku writer.
Nolan Reed
Apparently people in this thread don't realize that the reason he wanted to leave Capcom wasn't because of DmC itself but I didn't expect you losers to comb the sources anyway.
Levi White

Lincoln Gray

Lucas Phillips
Thank you, I'm glad some one acknowledges that Capcom put literally "Jaffar from Aladdin" in a Devil May Cry game.
Ryan Hall
>Is he just punished to have a poor fate? Know that I say this speaking as a huge fan of Kamiya and his games. He is one of the luckiest game devs in the entire industry. Viewtiful Joe is a fantastic game, and it was also a commercial flop. Okami was an okay game, critically acclaimed and well-loved by its cult following, but its original sales weren't near enough to warrant its 4-year dev time. There's a reason Clover was closed down. Then Bayo, it does well enough and is again a great game and critically acclaimed, but Sega were unsatisfied, they didn't want to fund a sequel, didn't see it as being worth it at all. Then Nintendo comes along and funds the sequel anyway along with letting him make W101. And W101 flops. Then Microsoft hire him for Scalebound anyway. This is the only real poor fate he's had, we still don't know the details but it was canned and that's terrible for him and terrible for Platinum. Yet he's on the board as Chief Game Designer overseeing all their projects, and right now Platinum is working on some independently funded IPs and I'd bet my left testicle he's directing one of those projects. After RE2 and DMC he hasn't had a single game sell well, decent at best and complete flops at worst, yet he's constantly getting more work and moving forward with his career where anyone else would have fallen on their sword by now.
Why did Ben Judd get kicked? All I know him for is being Phoenix Wright's voice. He also did do the "better than nothing" line
Josiah Rodriguez
>Expecting DMCfags to not be delusional retards
You must be new here
Tyler Turner
>all those Tameem dickriders and DMCV haters that said Itsuno loves DmC >Dante says it almost made him leave Capcom Lmao get fucked you retards.
Camden Ramirez
Like I said, I think his caveat is that unlike the other failed devs mentioned in this thread, he seems to actually makes fun games that are often critically acclaimed. That might be why he's allowed the clout he presently is. I for one love his games and don't really know why they don't sell well, beyond maybe his incendiary personality.
Leo Moore
>Internally, Capcom knew how awful and incompetent Ninja Theory was. They had to explain how to animate bloody punches source?

Joshua Smith
As much as I enjoy platinum and their games, sometimes I feel like the dodge button was their undoing for a while. I don't exactly remember what years, but there was a long span of time after MGR where every fucking game they were putting out was low budget and had the dodge + witch time mechanic. It made all their games feel ridiculously samey. Even nier automata would have fallen into that category if it wasn't for Taro's writing and whoever did the amazing animations for 2b. I never got around to bayo 2 or any of platinum's more recent games, so maybe they've managed to switch things up a bit.
Nathan Harris
Why is DmC considered so bad?
Carson Hernandez
It's because the general public don't actually like good games. DMC became successful after they spent nine months talking about auto assist and released demos on Human difficulty; if they focused on mechanical depth in the marketing and put the demos out on SoS you can bet it wouldn't be as accepted as it currently is.
It's a mediocre game, especially within it's own franchise. The main problem is that the devs were massive assholes to fans, and journalists used it as an excuse to antagonize fans.
Juan Gutierrez
Because it's had a Devil May Cry name on it, and for a Devil May Cry game it was a shit game. It was a nice Heavenly Sword sequel tough.
Josiah Perry
LoL! Even Hashimoto who recently left Platinum had knew Bayonetta beter than him, so better that he managed even switch his position and become the Director of the 2nd game.
Colton Sullivan
The gameplay sucks, the story is laughably bad yet played straight, the characters are unlikable, the colour coded enemies means you have to play "hit them with the right weapon" instead of letting you get creative with your attacks and most of the good things the game did are from the DMC team being made to instruct ninja theory how to make a goddamn game.
Jaxon Wilson
I guess the first 3 on the wishlist would be:
DMC5 DD2 Rival Schools3
Chase Cook
Also the style meter is fucked because damage is the biggest priority so you just find the heaviest hitting weapon and spam it until you get SSS.
Hunter Miller
Yuji Shimomura is not Yusuke Hashimoto.
Brandon Edwards
Well he's right
Elijah Stewart
>That cocksucker westaboo called Keiji Inafune had left by then right? Inafune already did the damage needed. He's the one that introduced Ninja Theory to Capcom and told them to let them make DmC, he's the one that gave Dead Rising to the Fucking Leafs, he's the one responsible for Dark Void and Bionic Commando.
Grayson Mitchell
Itsuno has balls. I can't imagine going up to my boss and saying give me the resources and freedom to do everything I want on this project or else I'm walkong.
Jayden James
Except Dina is partially responsible. One of Dina's primary jobs was also to relay feedback to the devs. Instead she banned backers and never actually relayed any gameplay feedback because she didn't care about the game itself, she just wanted to get paid for spreading feminist propaganda.
Inafune even said that feedback from the demos would be important to developing the game, but said feedback never reached them.
Jayden Anderson
It's because he knows that other companies would want to hire him. If not, he probably could have had enough support from his fans and staff that had worked under him before to go independent.
Carson Williams
He had nothing to lose at that point, this was during the Capcom Dark Age before RE7, RE2make and MonHun World.
Gavin James
>Bionic Commando Was it Bionic Commando that killed Inafune's career at Capcom, or did he manage to hold on for a little after? You got to make yourself indispensable to your company first, for that to work. Regardless though, it is ballsy to go up to executives and lay an ultimatum on them like that.
Easton Anderson
So what's Inafune up to nowadays?
John Murphy
clearly
Henry Williams
Yeah, it's a shame that the game is trash.
Jace Torres
>Was it Bionic Commando that killed Inafune's career at Capcom, or did he manage to hold on for a little after? He was still around for a bit more. BC was 2009, and he was still at Capcom on 2010 when he outsourced Dead Rising 2 and DmC.
William Taylor
>Was it Bionic Commando that killed Inafune's career at Capcom, or did he manage to hold on for a little after?
Game came out in 2009, bombed, and was such a shit storm that the Capcom President said that no other games were to be outsourced. Inafune didn't leave until 2010, but I'm certain they're connected. Ben Judd was the only person in Capcom who was pushing for the project because he's a low iQ fanboy, and Inafune was the one who approved it. Those two bore 100% responsibility for the biggest bomb in Capcom history.
Middle manager for Japanese only mobile games at L5, aka old Jap dev hell. He'll have a comfortable life until he dies. But he'll never be a big headline grabber or do anything of ntoe.
Charles Martinez
He's working as a manager or producer making mobile games I think. It still boggles me he tried to push another property before MMN9 even was released. Talk about reach exceeding grasp.
Juan Powell
>Game came out in 2009 Christ has it really been that long already?
Aiden Watson
>It still boggles me he tried to push another property before MMN9 even was released. Talk about reach exceeding grasp.
This goes back to how Comcept was setup. They're artists primarily. The goal of the company was to start projects and do the fun 10% of gaming where they draw shit and bullshit some story and characters. Then they leave and another company does the gritty 90% of actually making those drawings into a real game. Comcept was long done with MN9 so they decided to jumpstart Red Ash to give themselves something to do. Fans however, were confused why they were wanting to do a new game.
Just goes back to Comcept's poor idea, and their poor communication.
Dylan Cooper
>Level 5 hired him for their mobile division Yikes, Level 5's mobile division is already a fucking joke that can't put a game together, Inafune isn't going to be able to do much as an ideas guy when he's surrounded by incompetent buffoons.
Level 5's mobile division took several years to make a game that was LITERALLY JUST A 3DS PORT WITH A CASH SHOP AND SOME CUT 3DS CONTENT ADDED IN.
Samuel Ortiz
>Inafune isn't going to be able to do much as an ideas guy when he's surrounded by incompetent buffoons
good
Carson Gutierrez
I really wonder when was this mentioned, during production of DmC or that in between time of the release of the vanilla and the definitive edition, because seeing of how DMC5 ended I don't think he hated as much as it's mentioned in the article
Christopher Gomez
>It still boggles me he tried to push another property before MMN9 even was released. Talk about reach exceeding grasp. Inafune's job has always been the "ideas guy". Which is why he did so well at Capcom, he was surrounded by talent that could put his ideas into games. He brainstormed stuff like Megaman Battle Network, Dead Rising, Onimusha and more.
But Inafune is a producer, not a director. He's not very familiar with actual games development. When he made Comcept, Soul Sacrifice was a massive success because it was made by Sony Entertainment Japan who make great games, but with Mighty no.9 and Kaio, they fell apart.
Alexander Baker
>It still boggles me he tried to push another property before MMN9 even was released. He's actually just an "idea guy". No really. He makes up some shit and then give it to others so they will make the actual game. The Red Ash thing after MN9 wasn't because of him pushing another property, it's because his work with MN9 (the idea, design character, other everything else except the fucking game) was done and he need another work to do. Yeah, everybody knows that shit is stupid, but that's the Con Man for you.
Joshua Diaz
Itsuno did play a major role in giving DmC the DMC2 treatment and salvaging it into a somewhat working game, so he has some level of affection for the game.
Jaxson Robinson
I liked Dark Void and loved Bionic Commando, but they really needed to be their own thing instead of derivative shit.
Alexander Ortiz
>spends the rest of his career trying to get literal retards to make mobile shit while watching Capcom save every single franchise that he tried to "improve"
All we need is a new Bionic Commando game and his "legacy" is completely erased.
Colton Ramirez
What was bad about bionic commando
Andrew Collins
Both of those games are in an awkward situation. I don't think either of them are bad games either, but the controversy surrounding them completely overshadows them.
Zachary Morris
I strongly think that it wouldn't have been received so badly if the devs weren't outright hostile towards existing fans. You just don't shit on your fanbase. Didn't help that the worthless game journos helped to fan the flames as well.
Connor Stewart
>Kaio
Always would love to see where that game went wrong. All we got was an announcement trailer, several years of silence, and a cancellation. All I've learned is that it was made by Intercept, another Infundme studio, and it cost like 3.8 million dollars. No details why they had so much trouble with the game.
From what I could find on the info, Inafune gave Marvelous a bunch of random ideas and told them to make a game, and that was the end of his input. There was no collaboration or effort in from Comcept, and as a result Marvelous was stuck with the vague instructions to "make a Three Kingdoms + Pirates game because Westerners don't know what Three Kingdoms is".
Liam Martin
So, if Bionic Commando was a huge bomb, why did they keep putting Spencer in Marvel Versus Capcom?
Carter Hughes
>All I've learned is that it was made by Intercept, another Infundme studio, and it cost like 3.8 million dollars Interept was literally made of a bunch of nobodies that made a single phone game and then died after Kaio. And user, you forgot the worst part. It wasn't Intercept that cost 3.8 million dollars. Marvelous Entertaintment, the developers of Harvest moon , were the ones funding it. They lost the money, not Inafune.
Brody Flores
The game was developed by Intercept, Inafune's development studio. Marvelous were the publishers who paid for ti. He made three companies after leaving Capcom: Comcept, Intercept, and DiNG. Ding did mobile games, Intercept was a standard dev studio, and Comcept was artists. Intercept seems to have died after Kaio was cancelled in 2015.
For whatever reason, Intercept was unable to complete the game. I'm wondering if Inafune hired amateurs or if the scale of the game was so beyond what they could manage?
You can imagine Marvelous paying more and more money, but becoming more and more impatient with Inafune and Intercept, until they realized the game is just never coming out and cancelling it.
Nicholas Davis
To think he was the villain all along. All that "Fuck Capcom" was his doing.
Chase Morales
Itsuno has literally said DmC is his favorite game in the series, and dmc5 has numerous positive references to it. People are projecting their own feelings onto Itsuno.
Eli Ortiz
Retard
Ayden Adams
Development on Kaio was probably a god damn disaster from day 1. And you have Inafune juggling like 10 projects at once so he can't give any his full attention.
Brayden Murphy
So it made 60 million, that's a profit dumbass
Matthew Myers
Itsuno is smart enough to know that you shouldn't shit on games your own company made, even if you hated it.
Matthew Barnes
>Inafune fucked over, Resident Evil, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Devil May Cry, Mega Man, Ninja Gaiden, and now i'm learning about him fucking over Harvest Moon. Jesus how deep is this Closet?
>Game came out in 2009, bombed, and was such a shit storm that the Capcom President said that no other games were to be outsourced
This is such a fucking cop out. Grin talked about being micromanaged by Capcom. Ninja Theory talked about being micromanaged by Capcom. Dontnod talked about being micromanaged by Capcom. These devs weren't allowed to do a goddamn thing unless it was approved by the publisher and 90% of what they wanted to do was vetoed by the publisher and then the publisher turns around and says "We aren't outsourcing anymore because everyone sucks at development but us"? No, their incompetent micromanaging is as much to blame here.
This seems to be a pattern with Japanese publishers. When they are dealing with Jap devs they give them a lot of freedom but when it comes to western devs they micromanage the fuck out of the project and it invariably winds up being a piece of shit and then they blame the western devs for it. Most of these devs are nowhere near as bad under western publishers as they are under Jap publishers and I don't think that's a coincidence.
Camden Sanders
How the fuck do you S rank mission 10 on DMD? I can never seem to drag the style point past the S threshold and the furies just keep dragging down even lower. I've been replaying the stage for more than an hour to no avail.
"Not enough hitstop" according to a Jap is not exactly not knowing how to animate a punch.
Carter Martinez
Shit automated "platforming" Shallow as fuck combat that lulls you to sleep abysmal plot with blander than oatmeal characters doing near fuck all with the material they referenced. an ending that looks/sounds/is cool for nobody but the developers and whichever hack they hired to write it. There's nothing good or fun about the fucking dreadful piece of shit that is Enslaved.
Isaiah Young
They added him back then to promote that game, the only reason why Spencer cameback in Infinite was because Combofiend worked on the game and he was his main 3.
Cameron Bennett
You are fucking retarded if "not enough hitstop" is the conclusion you made.
Aiden Garcia
>and whichever hack they hired to write it
Alex Garland. He is no hack.
Evan Reyes
>"For example," said supervising producer Hideaki Itsuno, "let's say you're making a punch motion. If it's going at the same speed from the time you start swinging to the end of the follow-through, it's not going to feel all that forceful. There's a sort of charging-up period at the start, and then a snap or a whoosh as you quickly push forward on it; that's what makes it feel good. But at the start, it was all going at the same speed."
They literally didn't know how to animate punches. If you want another game that did this, it's Mass Effect Andromeda. All the punches are the same speed, with no explosion of power, like what Itsuno is describing.
DMC only fags will forever seethe about this, even though kamiya couldn't even top himself with bayonetta 2. Bayonetta is just a near perfect action game is all, idk why niggas lose their shit over this stuff.
Jaxson Collins
Western devs don't like making every single move an epic "nothing personal, kid" move. They like a clear distinction between weak attacks and powerful attacks. Japs and weebs don't get that because they've grown up on anime where characters can destroy planets merely from the shockwave of snapping their fingers and that's really cool and badass to them and so they want every single thing a character does to feel just like that, every fucking time.
Andrew Carter
>some nonense rant about weebs or something
I hope this is baiting and that no one is actually this stupid. Uh, this is how punches work dipshit. The andromeda punches look laughable because they're the same slow speed. No snap.
Owen Myers
Nero > Equip Gerbera Dante > Hit UP on the D-Pad for Trickster
There you go. Fucking moron.
Samuel Wood
>they're the same slow speed. No snap also no impact.
Lincoln Morris
>Uh, this is how punches work dipshit.
No. You want to punch someone in real life you don't do some long wind up because that's just a massive telegraph. There's a snap in western developed games, it's right at the very start. Japs want wind up, pause, snap, follow through, pause again. Western devs just do snap, follow through which is how you are supposed to fight.
Jace Sanders
this except bayonetta is behind dmc4 because it has shitty gameplay qtes, boring bosses, retarded gimmick levels, and combat the incentives you to land 1 out of every 4 hits you throw
Oliver Flores
his problem is that he keeps making games that are too casual for the hardcore audience but too hardcore for the casual audience it's clear that nobody, nobody, wants that shit, except xNFx's
Gabriel Fisher
I'm sorry, trickster is good and all for Dante, but it's retarded that for Nero in order to have actual good dodge you have to equip a breakable, finite item, when they could've just make Tablehopper replace the shitting roll Nero starts out with instead requiring you to perfect time your dodge in order for Tablehopper to work.
Parker Phillips

It didn't have lock-on at launch and didn't implement style switching, so it was just an action adventure game where you do some physic-less, trivial platforming segments in-between beat em up arenas.
Everything about the game's aesthetic was well put together, but the Westerners just didn't understand what people who typically play character action games really want, so the gameplay suffered for that.
Nicholas Bailey
The breaker is only finite if you get hit using it Also plain old jump is good enough for 90% of things They also added a quick side hop animation to step around larger enemies And you still have the roll
Xavier Cooper

they made Kung Fu Chaos, but that flopped and wasn't approved for a sequel, so that really mindfucked them, broke their spirits. I'm hoping they're allowed to break the mold again next Gen now that they are under the Xbox banner.
I know all that, doesn't make it any less better. The roll should be completely replaced with Tablehopper 1 instead of still being the default dodge. Jumping is safe and all but it kills the pace.
Carter Nguyen
He's actually the only reason Enslaved isn't more embarrassing.
Robert Rivera
Ugly photorealism. That's all westerners can do.

Not a single one of those developers have ever made a good game except Grin which did Bionic Commando Rearmed. Hell I'd argue that gameplay wise DmC is actually NTs best game. Still pretty crap but plays a hell of a lot better than Enslaved, Heavenly Sword, or Hellblade
Parker Davis
game of thrones, current chart-topping music, the battle royale fad, and capeshit are all currently trending, that should give you an idea of how utterly, shit the tastes of the general public are.

I feel like Kamiya is a lot like Dante.
A “too cool for school” attitude with a lot of highs and lows in his career. While as a dev, his choices might have not translated into sales— his games have consistent critical acclaim.
He might just be someone who is better as a producer or supervisor.
Jaxson Foster
>I never got around to bayo 2 or any of platinum's more recent games Remember how in Bayo 1, Witch Time was actually meant as a crutch and the highest difficulty disables it entirely?
In Bayo 2 the entire game is designed around it, tons of enemies have armor that lets them break out of combos or are impossible to launch unless you trigger witch time, so every fight involves you having to bait enemies into trying to hit you first before you can do anything in return.
It's just as terrible as it sounds. Platinum is nothing without Kamiya.
Tyler Roberts
>Remember how in Bayo 1, Witch Time was actually meant as a crutch and the highest difficulty disables it entirely?
I should replay that at highest difficulty then. Because Witch Time just destroyed the flow and pacing of battles. I hated it.
Ian Williams
Of course, since Witch Time is the entire focus of Bayonetta 2, rather than disabling it, that game's highest difficulty makes it even more mandatory as certain enemies become nearly impossible to even hit without it.
Just don't play Bayonetta 2.
Daniel Moore
>dodge button In my ignorance I used to believe DMC needed a dodge button but after replaying the series and many other action games I realized that the dodge button is a crutch and breeds laziness. Most fights end up circling the target and dodging at any attack while in DMC jumping is the go to evasive maneuver since it has liberal i-frames and often puts you in a better position to counter attack than rolling does. The only enemies that rolling works for better than jumping are mobs and Angelos (Nelo,Creedo and Cavilere)
Isaiah Carter
Bad PR promoting a mediocre game. It wouldn't have gotten so much flak if it was it's own thing, but the very brilliant PR campaign just pissed everyone off, so the game's reputation suffered the loss.
Andrew Richardson
It's not a bad game, but it's essentially a cinematic experience.
Cooper Bell

You can switch Dantes Style into trickster and use it as a dodge
Ryan Watson
I honestly can't wait for Dragons Dogma 2 now. It's my pie in the sky game, delay suicide-tier anticipation.
David Torres
was their one good decision he made for Capcom? The guy really believed that there was money in specifically making towards Western audiences and even going as far to hire Western studios to make games I can understand the idea of them wanting to appeal to the biggest gaming market but Capcom games already highly appealed to Western. Trying to go even further would only alienate the hardcore fans
Isaiah Young
after the success of DMCV i'd be surprised if it didn't happen
Blake Carter
Plus it's getting a shitty Nitflix anime and a Bing Bing Wahoo port so Capcom is trying to drum up interest
Chase Reyes
Move change target to moving the right analog stick while locked on and move devil trigger there
William Hughes
How do you feel about blacked Morrison?
Bentley Davis
he was blacked in the books the anime is based on
Cooper Jenkins
>all but it kills the pace If you're a shitter maybe. A good jump dodge, especially with Nero should put you in a position to counter with his sizable aerial arsenal or close the gap with a snatch/wire snatch if need be. Dodging is fancier but less safe as it often gives minimal distance from an enemy follow up and few I-frames unless you pull a Table Hopper
Best announcer in the game >Work off that debt son
Jeremiah Jenkins
The anime was it's own thing for a good amount of time and only recently started to get incorporated along with a lot of the side material into the series proper besides
Easton Campbell
Reminder that Nico exists because of Itsuno's fetish
>And it’s paying off. And it's 20k copies first week TOP KEK fire that nip and bring back DmC - the actual peak of this series.
Joseph Gray
According to his recent interviews that’s exactly it apparently.
Asher Murphy
>for something so contradictory both to DMC5's end result and to what Itsuno said about DmC It's not contradictory to DMC5's end result though. For all the memes people keep trying to force, DMC5 does not in any way play like DmC. It shares concepts and UI/UX elements, but mechanically is absolutely nothing like the game. It's pretty clear that Itsuno didn't want anything to do with the gameplay of DmC. He was also probably pissed off that Capcom took his franchise away from him. He was still brought on to oversee the development, but he basically got Kamiya'd.
I think Itsuno genuinely likes the work he did on DmC and of course wanted to take the good ideas that NT tried to do but failed at, and it's clear he was intent on fixing DmC since that's what the series left off with, but nothing about what Itsuno said and Reuben said contradict each other.
Xavier Williams
Source? Would love to see this
Wyatt Richardson
I remember when that was first posted here back when the interview dropped and I actually had to look up the source because I didn’t believe it. Itsuno really is awesome.
It’s basically confirmed now, he kept mentioning it in DMC5 interviews and in the final one he said he was gearing up for a new project with a big grin on his face when an interviewer asked about DD2. Not to mention it’s being ported to Switch and there’s a DD Netflix anime in the works. The anime will most likely be fucking garbage but it shows they’re actually investing in the franchise and coupled with Itsuno’s comments it seems like they’re making a major push to revive it. I wouldn’t expect the game til like 2023, a full 11 years after the first game like how DMC5 was 11 years after 4, but it’s happening at least it seems.
Luke Morales
Who gives a fuck
Blake Bailey
t. delusional DmCuck
Easton Bell
Only a matter of time now til the gyno conmanlet wises up and closes Ninja Theory!
He’s so obviously fucking gay, like holy shit just come out already. He shat on the original DMC and called it gay in his pitch to Capcom and even photoshopped Dante into a scene from Brokeback Mountain, but then in his section on what the new Dante should be like he had pics of a bunch of Calvin Klein underwear models. He’s so clearly fucking gay but in hard denial holy shit.
Alexander Morris
Nice try, Tameem
Luke Reed
the only delusional retard is (you)
Austin Hernandez
the game is great you're just a faggot
Kayden Ward
If only Darksiders 3 was as great as the 1st and 2nd game.
Wyatt Watson
That was years ago. Now he'd respond to the first one with >Blocked waito piggu end of converstation
Oliver Roberts
Do anyone still remember that ugly british journalist Keza McDonald?
Adam Morris
don't ask retarded questions.
Leo Price
Was Viewtiful Joe really a flop? It got a sequel, a spin-off game and a two season anime.
Nicholas Ward
So they guy basically threatened to leave and demanded to have the game his way like some kind of a terrorist? Good to know.
Brayden Foster
>Retard detected
Noah Thompson
Seeing you DmC cucks seethe like Cavaliere is priceless.
Nathan Mitchell
Does anyone have the Dante pic that's like a doodle of him doing devil horns shouting >YOU CANNOT KILL ME >I AM OMEGA
Joseph Bennett
>ITSUNOOOOOOOOOO t. Tameemic Black Knight
Julian Perez
Capcom could've just easily not caved to a "terrorist's" demands. Itsuno probably would've joined Platinum by now if they didn't.
Nathan Howard
a hell of alot more fun then shitty movie games
Henry Phillips
I'm fine with jumping too but I feel like it gives too much generous iframes. despite people shitting on bayo's dodge button, at least it still requires good timing
Camden Hughes
did itsuno do any coding or 3d modeling?
Kevin Turner
He's an ideas guy.
Jace Thomas
To be fair with that copy he could delete the day one patch and not only get nude butts but also the better version of sub-human that PC cannot.
Blake Edwards
It's funny he pulled the "gay as an insult" card against Dante and the games media sucked their dick still. Now to be fair this was in 2010 or so pre GG so the video game "journalists" haven't started to wear social justice as a shield. What I don't understand why they still defend DmC:Devil May Cry today when they find that kind of shit unacceptable
Eli Bailey
everyone can code or model, thats why the west sucks, they think they can just throw a fuck ton of code and realistic 3d model and shit together and it will made a good game
Hunter Williams
Looks like Gary Oldman from fifth element, put on sale.
Evan Clark
Thats Reuben fucking langdon you are talking about though. We would sooner take his word.
It's refreshing to read a story about someone who genuinely loves video games for once.
Juan Davis
Capcom is slowly learning. Very slowly, but they're definitely at a much better spot than other japanese companies. They started giving at least a decent treatment to the Megaman series again, they did a decent remake of RE2 and now this. Next up, getting competitive at fighting game development again. Or like a certain very disliked youtube celebrity said, a new Breath of Fire with Dragon's Dogma mechanics.
Wyatt Ward
This is why Kamiya will always be out guy
Chase Reyes
When I buy a videogame, I want to play a videogame, not a fucking movie.
Evan Diaz
>a certain very disliked youtube celebrity who?
Matthew Allen
Razörfist
Cameron Jenkins
It doesn't play like it but basically everything else is more like DmC than old DMC.
It doesn't make a lick of sense for contradictions like this to exist, I'm not going to take Reuben's word for it. That guy believes in aliens, he's insane.
Oliver Garcia
>Have an SS combo going >Judecca snipes me from offscreen >Dante calls me a dumbass
>but basically everything else is more like DmC than old DMC So everything except the gameplay then, and this is somehow something we should be upset about. Okay.
Just because Reuben is crazy doesn't mean he would fabricate something Itsuno said or did. He's crazy, not a liar.
Carter Morales
>but basically everything else is more like DmC than old DMC. maybe if youre a fucking braindead autist who is actually retarded enough to think that muh wapaneese superior race only likes muh anime and everything with realistic characters is MUH DmC!!111
Probably not personally, he’s been a director for like 2 decades now and doesn’t do the grunt work anymore. Back in the 90s when he first started at Capcom he would have.
Because that would require them to admit they were at fault in defending him in the first place, and that’s not something you can do these days unless you want your company or personal reputation to be eternally fucked. They’ll never mention that incident and even if they’re forced into discussing it they’ll avoid taking any kind of responsibility.
Christian Harris
Itsuno has said he wants to do Dragon’s Dogma 2 after DMC5 and then after DD2 he wants to do Rival Schools 3, so give it a few years and the legend himself will return to unfuck their fighting game division.
Wyatt Moore
How fucking stupid are you? do you actually think that a director just "gives ideas" for other people to execute? Any big studio would completely fall apart without a competent project leader that sits at the highest point of the chain assessing any problem that comes up high enough
DMC5 seems like it had an extremely competent director/ producer trio since the game came out on time in an incredibly polished state filled with quality content, the complete opposite of some project management clusterfuck like the phantom pain which was obviously cobbled together out of 5 years in the making assets that kept getting remade and repurposed on the directors and producers changing whims and requests
